Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

MudandMoet · 26/06/2024 14:06

Gorgeous hospital bag @cd24x you'll always have a lovely overnight bag to use now too. It's inspired me to get cracking with hospital bag duties.

I'm a sun worshipper so out getting some rays while browsing baby things. I know these days will soon be numbered so definitely making the most.

No leaking boobs here yet but I did get a cotton bud and get a little milky white blob out of my right nipple this morning so maybe it's on it way!

HRP1990 · 26/06/2024 14:19

@rupertbear91 my pregnancy app told me to expect leaky boobs from now (29 weeks pregnant) assuming it’s colostrum!?

@mrsbgb I’ve been told to up my iron also, so I’ve been trying to eat more dark leafy greens and red meat. I’ve been taking Spatone in the morning too which is a liquid iron supplement. It’s only been a week since I’ve been told, so I’m not expecting miracles yet. (The real question is am I just exhausted because I’m pregnant and also have a toddler..or am I tired because of the low iron? Probably both lol)

Lillers · 26/06/2024 14:56

Had my GD appointment - there was a group session which was really useful, and I had a chance to meet with the dietician as well. His advice was really similar to everything I’d already researched which was reassuring - I’d read a lot of stories about hospital teams giving conflicting advice to what’s available online so pleased this isn’t the case. I could go back to work now but they don’t know what time my appointment ends and I’m also carrying a little goody bag containing lots of notes, my new blood glucose monitor and a sharps bin, so I’m going straight home!

cd24x · 26/06/2024 17:47

@Lillers so glad that you had what sounds like a really useful appointment. Fancy making some room on the GD bench for me? Had my 28 week growth scan this afternoon (due to previous large baby/BMI). Baby is on larger side again. Then had follow up with consultant who confirmed it's gestational diabetes this time round. Got an appt at diabetes clinic on Friday. It's only 15 mins though so doubt it'll be as in depth as yours! Best start researching properly.

Lillers · 26/06/2024 17:51

@cd24x I’m sorry to hear you’ve got it too! Did you have it in a previous pregnancy or is this the first time? I’ve found the gestational diabetes UK website an absolute godsend, and definitely recommend joining their FB group too. It’s a lot of info to get your head around in a short space of time but we can do it!

siobhanmt247 · 26/06/2024 18:06

Hi everyone. I haven't been on in a while but I still check in with you all now and again. I'm having another little girl and can sympathise with those who have GD. I was diagnosed at 10 weeks but had a growth scan yesterday and she's on the 5th percentile, her femur is well below the 3rd so I have more investigations for that. I hope everyone else is doing ok in the heat

TripleESept24 · 26/06/2024 20:07

How hot is it 😭 didn't sleep well last night I'm exhausted.

Had 28 week appointment today, baby girl was so funny she was kicking the Doppler and making her chase her around haha!

I still don't understand the percentile thing!!!! But I'm 28 weeks and my bump measured 28 which they said is good, this is the graph!

And here is a bump pic of her all bunched up one one side she does that quite often and bump looks lopsided 😂🤣

Hope everyone is doing ok? My heartburn is getting worse by the day!!!

@TripleESept24 excited to get my bump measured for the first time Friday! I also have heartburn on and off and it’s so wild sometimes it’s just from water 😂👍🏼
but managed a pizza tonight and I’m grand! Wild!

I am lucky I got an air con unit a few summers ago when it was 30s and we had a puppy in august and I was worried about him 😂 he and I have been sat in front of it for two days now!

Lillers · 26/06/2024 21:23

Tested my bloods for the first time this evening - it was horribly stressful, I ended up in tears because I couldn’t get the machine to work and was too scared to lance my finger (even though I knew it wouldn’t be bad, it was a huge psychological barrier knowing that pressing the button would draw blood). I was stressing because they’re so strict about the times you have to test, and when it wasn’t working obviously time was ticking away. DH had to lance me in the end, and then when it wasn’t working and it kept drying up I ended up having to do it 3 times.

I can’t believe I’m going to have to do this 4 times a day.

MrsMoggy · 26/06/2024 21:24

@siobhanmt247 we are also having growth problems, baby was only 6th centile a couple of weeks ago also due to femur length. However repeat scan this week and she is now on the 13th centile and femurs considerably grown. So try to stay positive. We will be regularly monitored still to make sure still growing and because of my hyperthyroidism. Take care

This was the second time I'd had my bump measured! Xx

siobhanmt247 · 26/06/2024 21:31

Sorry to hear you're struggling with the finger pricks @Lillers t is surprising how quickly you get used to it though. I'm on insulin now and finding that quite difficult still

Thanks @MrsMoggy im hypothyroid but I seem tonkbow more than my consultant on that front. I had a scan at 16 and 20 weeks and femur was around 40th centile but it wasn't even on the chart so I think it must just be a mis-measurement. All others were around the 50th. I have high pressure in the cord so back for a doppler tomorrow then another growth scan in 2 weeks so I guess its early days still

Sorry for jumping on the post, where I work one of our patients has this on prescription and it's brilliant as gives you readings anytime with no finger pricks. It needs replacing every 2 weeks; something to consider, maybe your Gp will prescribe if you want it.

longingtobe23 · 26/06/2024 22:57

@TripleESept24 i noticed that! A friend of mine started her tracking at 25 weeks too
wonder if my trust do it slightly later for a reason! But I asked them last time and they said we go from 28! So I am on tenter hooks until then hah!

Yes I was disappointed too, I was under the impression it’d start from 25 weeks but my midwife said it won’t be until 28! Sad

Decaffe · 27/06/2024 03:02

Why is it still sooooo hot! 😩

SantasRubiksCube · 27/06/2024 03:34

Is anyone else getting a bit panicky/anxious that they still have so much to do? I'm 30 weeks today and feel like all of a sudden I need to get loads done but have no time. I work in a school and have other kids I have to do school/nursery runs for so just thought to myself 'well all the others were well over their due date I'll just do everything when it's the school holidays' but then I've come to the realisation that that's not for three weeks so I'll be 33 weeks, then he might come earlier then the others (we have a glamping holiday booked when I'm 36 weeks, the only time DH could get off work but what were we thinking 😵‍💫). We have a pram, car seat and clothes but need a new chest of drawers for the clothes (and they all need washing) and the biggest thing....we need a bigger car! I can't imagine having to deal with that when baby comes but life has just been so busy. DH helps as much as he can but works full time and is a very laid back person. Sorry for the long rant, it's hot and I can't sleep so of course my mind has started racing 🤦🏻😅

Xur · 27/06/2024 04:01

0400AM and I am sat on bed eating random stuff as I can’t get back to sleep.

I have a dry cough and I am operating on less energy, I do have some cold virus or something in me and what bothers me is that I’d have to go into work tomorrow regardless because I have to do a video interview and I’ve left my work laptop in the office.

SC126 · 27/06/2024 06:29

@SantasRubiksCube feel like I could have written this myself. I got on mat leave at 33 weeks but we go away for a week at 34 weeks. I still have things to buy. I’ve bought or already had the bigger things from last time but the little stuff adds up. I need the suitcase for our holiday so hospital bag will be done after this trip and I’m starting to get a tad stressed over it all. My husband is always very chill about the whole thing and says we still have loads of time.

Thanks, I have seen these and for GD in my area they tend to only prescribe them if there’s a real problem with bloods taking (other than me just being a baby!)

I managed to get my fasting bloods this morning on the second go! So I’m getting there. The only drama was when I realised I’d accidentally locked my sharps bin - who knew that closing the lid would permanently lock it?! DH had to pry it open with his multitool, but it took him ages.

Emmaev · 27/06/2024 07:51

Hope everyone is well! Really struggling with the heat, so glad I only have 5 more shifts left at work before mat leave, working in a busy care home waddling around and sweating through everything is absolutely no fun, go away feeling like I’m gonna pass out most days.

On the leaky boobs front I haven’t had any. With my daughter no milk came until a couple of days after she was born.

I can hardly even believe I’m 30+3 now, we’ve gone to fortnightly midwife appointments now and monthly scans. Fortunately bp is still in the safe zone and no protein yay! At this point with my daughter I was swelling like a balloon and had raised bp. So I’m tentatively optimistic that I’ll make it past 34 weeks this time

mrsbgb · 27/06/2024 09:18

Did anyone actually sleep last night?! I feel horrendous today. Luckily we go on holiday tomorrow so I'm only working until lunchtime but even that feels like a struggle!

I had my 28 week midwife appointment yesterday, she measured bump but didn't tell me anything about it so I'm assuming it must be average, which is interesting as I know from all my scans that baby boy is pretty big! Booked my 31 week appointment for when I'm back from holiday and can't believe we're on the fortnightly sessions from then. A woman in my NCT class (where in fairness I'm the last due by some way) went into labour last night a few weeks early so it's all starting to feel quite real!

cd24x · 27/06/2024 09:29

@Lillers technically this is the first time I've had it. I do think that I had it undiagnosed with DS as we were still under covid restrictions at that point and they weren't doing the GTT - trying to get people in and out as soon as possible for appts, rather than have us hang around for 2 hours. Luckily no complications for DS, but a chunk at 10lb 6oz. Thanks for recommending the FB group. I joined last night and have been glued to it. Spent 10 mins just staring at yogurts in Tesco on my way to the office today, looking at protein/carb levels 😂will have to do it all over again at lunch. But I'm determined to get it right and do all I can to control with diet. At your appointment yesterday, did they say anything about carrying on with your community midwife appts? I was meant to have 28 week midwife tomorrow, but the consultant yesterday cancelled it and said to go to diabetes clinic instead as community midwife no longer needed...

@SantasRubiksCube I feel exactly the same. We've got all the baby bits, but stuff still needs cleaning. Big job for us is that we need to get DS room re-plastered and re-decorated before we can even think about turning the spare room into a nursery. So nursery likely won't be done before baby arrives now. Plasterer is coming in a couple of weeks, so should have that bit done by end of July.

@Emmaev That's really encouraging about normal BP and no protein! Fingers crossed that continues!

@Decaffe @mrsbgb Last night was absolutely horrendous. We put the fan in DS room as it was sweltering. I almost ended up on the floor in there just for a bit of air. Hope you're taking it easy today.

Lillers · 27/06/2024 10:53

@cd24x Yes, they said all community midwife appointments would be cancelled and all appointments from now on would be with the diabetes midwifery team. All my original ones are still showing on my app which is annoying, but I do have a couple of new ones that have appeared.
