Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

Page 40 | September 2024 - Thread 7! 🐣🧡💛❤️ | Mumsnet

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

Was really hoping for a positive scan today. 28w growth scan and now have mild polyhydramnios, which has concerned me as can be a symptom of some of the causes of the kidney issue too. I feel like it's all too coincidental. Also I thought it was a sign of slapped cheek virus being passed on but they said it wasn't.
Just feel so low after every scan which is worrying me.
Xx

@SpicyMoth fortunately he is just particularly tall! So his height and legs were always measuring 2/3 weeks ahead of his body haha! I am 5ft7 and my husband 6ft2 - my brother is 6ft5… so we were expecting tall!

So I gave birth vaginally… but as the consultant pulled him out he just kept coming 😂 he is 8 years old now and we share shoes already and he shops in adult shoe section! He never looked chonky (to me anyway) just very very long!
also he was nearly 14 days late! So that certainly added to size 😅

Awh he's so precious!! <3
And blimey, you guys would tower over me I think!! Awh I'm so excited to see everyone start popping, not long to go now!!

@MrsM89 I'm sorry, sounds like you're having a really tough time. Please don't feel down. Are the doctors super concerned? Is baby growing as they should be? Try and focus on the little wins. Although tough and I'd be feeling the same as you I'm sure 🫶🏼

Xur · 22/06/2024 08:04

@MrsM89 did you have the diabetes test?

I’m really sorry you feel this way, I know it’s hard to be disconcerted in these circumstances.
I hope it’s not a big deal 💚

MudandMoet · 22/06/2024 13:50

@MrsM89 sorry to hear you're feeling low after your scan. I hope they have filled you with confidence that they will be monitoring this also. Is there anything you can do or is it just one of those things out of your control? Sending hugs xx

MrsM89 · 22/06/2024 19:56

Thank you all. Feel like I'm really over thinking what could be causing all the problems we are coming across. I think I'm going to give fetal medicine a call Monday to just ask for some reassurance as I'm not due to see them for 4 weeks.

They couldn't do my gtt, so just did a normal blood test for diabetes but that was negative
Xx

Happylittlebump · 22/06/2024 23:15

@MrsM89 sorry to hear you are feeling low.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 23/06/2024 08:12

@MrsM89 Sending you lots of love ❤️I’m so sorry to hear to hear how you’re feeling - these babies have us on our bloody toes! If it’s any consolation, I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios at the latter end of my first pregnancy (as well as pre eclampsia) and I felt awful, as if my body had failed him.

Fast forward to now, I have a very tall and extremely chatty 4 year old. Today he dropped round 2 bags of veg he’d harvested from his allotment that he shares with his nan, with very specific instructions on how to cook and eat them 😂 and if you ask him how to grow one of them, he’ll tell you in great detail. In fact, if you start a conversation with him about anything, that’s it you’ll be locked in for an hour 🤣 so the problems we faced in pregnancy haven’t at all affected his development, even though at the time I felt really scared and beat myself up.

Keep us updated, always here to listen ❤️

Lillers · 23/06/2024 10:08

@MrsM89 Sending you lots of love ❤️

I’ve spent the last couple of days coming to terms with the GD diagnosis. I don’t see a specialist until Wednesday, but didn’t want to leave it until then to make changes, so have been obsessively reading the Gestational Diabetes UK website and Facebook group like a bible! I’m only just starting to appreciate how much of an additional mental load this is going to be - every waking minute is filled with thinking about food. Not in an “I’m hungry and I really want all the bad things!” way, but more that I’m trying to learn what I can can have, how often I should be eating, how I’m going to make it stick, how I’m going to handle it at work etc. Putting together random recipes in my head and trying to work out if there are any hidden carbs in there.

I’m so lucky that my husband wants to join me in this - he’s not going to restrict himself as much as me, but we’ll have the same meals and not keep any sugary or carby snacks in the house.

My mum’s worried that by cutting out all sugar I’ll end up with moody and tired. I pointed out I’ve been moody and tired for 6 months now and so hopefully nobody will notice anything different 😂😂

Ritagoestohollywood · 23/06/2024 11:29

@MrsM89 it’s good they are doing this monitoring the more information and informed you are the better they can care for you, I completely empathise tho I have been through something similar

I had my son in Covid and he has a genetic condition the care was terrible (but we got there in the end)

There were a couple of indicators and nothing was done but he is a thriving little 3.5 year old now and now they know, health and support is good.

good idea to call fetal medicine that is what they are there for! Ask as many questions as you want, ask for further testing (if that’s what you want) I didn’t know any of this could be done when I was expecting.
We’re under fetal medicine at Manchester and I am very impressed with them

it might also be insignificant but they are doing the right thing checking you further

I hope you find this reassuring rather than worrying sending you love ❤️ x x x

Xur · 23/06/2024 12:14

@Honeyandsunshine1 really encouraging words you’ve said about your own experience and your son, I’m delighted to see advice of positive enforcement.

I overdosed on vitamin C, I find it difficult to believe as a fact but I need to lay off the fruit, the berries and certain veg.
I obviously mentioned before I ate a whole box of cherries the other day, by myself. The following day my husband brought home an another box and I ate that aswell. Following that I got a light itchy/stinging spot on my right arm where the skin is soft and thin. I didn’t pay too much attention to it.
the following day around noon I had two glasses of pineapple juice which is also high in vitamin C. After the second glass the same spot on my arm felt lightly sensitive. That’s when I realised it’s vitamin C overdose taking action.

last time I overdosed on vitamin C I was 10 years old, it was from strawberries and I had a rash on my legs.

I can’t believe the problems I’m having to be honest. it’s quite ridiculous.

longingtobe23 · 23/06/2024 14:01

you're all managing so well ladies! Home stretch now - third trimester we got this. Make sure you seek support for anything you need girls that’s all I will say, don’t trust them to do it for you and catch up and chase you, I wish I was more persistent my first pregnancy! And support for any anxiety or mental health for yourself as well / safeguard yourself postpartum and make sure strategies are in place for PND! I was naive and thought it wouldn’t catch me … but it did I will try not to make the same mistake again this time around.

I cried over paint yesterday and I am still not sure I love it 😂 absolute mess - but trusting my instincts that I’ve chosen it right. Just disappointed it wasn’t smooth sailing. The house feels so full of baby stuff I cannot wait to get organised I think that’s making me feel so overwhelmed… but I am grateful otherwise things are totally fine and so far in my control. All completely insignificant problems over here and I need to remember that!

This wont be forever we got this! Try to enjoy what you can when you can 🤍🤍

Honeyandsunshine1 · 23/06/2024 20:17

Hope you’re okay @Xur? You definitely sound like you’re getting a lot of vitamin c. Is the fruit a pregnancy craving or just something you usually really enjoy? 🍒

Also thank you everyone who congratulted/commented on the “secret” wedding we’re having. I can’t remember everyone’s tags but I appreciate you all! Now, does anyone know any flattering things I could wear to the surprise event? For the actual ceremony there’s only us and 2 witnesses so I’ll just wear my usual clothes 😂 but I want to wear something fairly bride-ish for the event a few days later that people don’t know is actually the reception. Ya girl is looking a bit meaty so what do I do, flowy jumpsuit? Or dress? Maybe just a funky pattern jumpsuit as we’re clearly not doing anything traditionally 😂 gosh, I don’t know!

rupertbear91 · 23/06/2024 20:52

Just because having HG and a heart issue isn't enough the stupid dog sent me flying tonight onto a concrete curb when a chicken shot out of the hedge 😔 luckily I landed mostly on my elbow and mat triage have just said monitor movements for the next few days closely but it's really shaken me up and am so worried about what could have happened if I fell right on my stomach.

Xur · 23/06/2024 23:08

@Honeyandsunshine1 thank you! I am fine, I consume fruit daily, but now it’s like the urge for certain fruit has put the foot in the door now. I ate a whole watermelon today. I’m not particularly craving sweet fruit, but rather..fresh, tangy and juicy. I’ve always enjoyed cherries but these ones I’ve been having are a bit acidic, they’re not very sweet. They’re like garden cherries. Not like black Spanish cherries that are very sweet.

My mum told me when she was expecting me she ate a whole bush of rhubarb by herself in one day. I’m sort of going in her footprints with these tangy cherries

In regards to dress ideas, what if you opted for some summery chiffon? Maybe some cute florals? Mid or long length?
congratulations on the wedding from me aswell! ❤️
I married also in a small setting just 2 weeks ago, with just the witnesses and I wore a mid lenght tube gown, very simple, but was celebratory enough.

cd24x · 24/06/2024 09:55

@rupertbear91 hope you're OK and the shock has worn off. Sending big hugs xx

I'm in my 2 hour GTT wait. Got an awful headache - not sure if it's the drink or the heat. As I parked up at my appointment, I realised that the button on my handbrake has popped out and won't work! Luckily the car park is flat and I've managed to park in a spot which only has 1 car to the side of it. Now just got to get it home and get it parked somewhere it won't roll 🙈 fun start to the week!

Cat2022 · 24/06/2024 13:07

I am absolutely melting in the heat today. I had my 28 week growth scan and he is measuring just below the 50th centile. She told me in the 10 years they have been tracking them for low papp-a she has never once seen a baby be small due to it so that’s eased any existing worries.

MudandMoet · 24/06/2024 13:47

Hope you're okay @rupertbear91 definitely monitor movements closely for a day or two to be sure.

@Honeyandsunshine1 I'm not sure of your style or vibe but I'm quite boho (not all of the time as being a farmers wife I'm mainly in scruffs 😂) I went boho for our wedding even though it was just us (I really wanted nice pics for the walls) I'd just lost a baby so was flat tummied but these are lovely examples of what I would have gone with if I'd had a bump.

Hi all hope it's ok to just come on for a bit of a rant, 29+4 weeks here and I had a horrible 24hr stomach bug over the weekend which has pretty much knocked me off my feet. I feel a lot better today (DH took the day off work to do school run so I can stay in bed) I've been sleeping so much and feel lightheaded when ever I'm upright too long, DH has to go to work tomorrow and I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit scared of being on my own to look after the youngest and take the others to school especially in the heat 😩

Lillers · 24/06/2024 16:08

Aaah water has stopped working at work so we’ve all been sent home - great, apart from the fact I reeeeally needed a wee before leaving! And now melting on the train platform because there’s no shade and I normally time leaving work so I only have to wait a few minutes - by being kicked out of the building I now have a 25 minute wait in the blazing heat 😭

Decaffe · 24/06/2024 16:09

Don't worry @Xur you can eat as much tangy, vitamin C rich food as you like - it's very rare to overdose on vitamin C as the body can't store it. In the unlikely event of overdose, the first thing you'd notice would be a stomach upset and loose stools, but it wouldn't cause any real harm! Smile
I have my physio appointment for PGP later this week. It got quite bad over the weekend but that's because I was really busy and didn't really stop/slow down/sleep much. Looking forward to seeing what the physio says.

Hope everyone is keeping as cool as possible!

RosiePH · 24/06/2024 16:27

@Decaffe glad you’ve got a physio appointment! I got some great exercises from mine, which have definitely helped.

I had a busy weekend and now slightly worried I might have caught covid?! Feeling a bit weak, headache and a mild upset tummy for the last 24 hours. No real appetite (when I’ve been the hungriest woman alive the last few weeks!). Hoping it’s just a brief bug and will pass soon.

HRP1990 · 24/06/2024 20:09

@RosiePH we got an email today saying a child at our daughters nursery has Covid! I don’t think I know any children who have had Covid!? So now I’m waiting to see if she comes home with it 🙈

@cd24x If you have a manual transmission car you can leave your car in first gear and it won’t roll, just remember to press down the clutch and the break when you start the car if not you’ll instantly stall it.
If you have an automatic transmission please be advised that the park mode on the gear box has a part that is called the “standing finger”, it’s like a mini handbrake, it will hold your car in a reasonable medium slope. Some people who are aware of this function don’t even use the handbrake that much when parking (like my husband), but if over used it can wear off. It wears off quicker than handbrake cable does. As a short term solution it’s fine to use:)

@Decaffe thanks for the heads up 😉

cd24x · 24/06/2024 20:55

Thanks @Xur. I got the car home (luckily no hill starts!) and managed to get it parked on the road outside the house which is flat, rather than on our sloped drive, and left it in gear. Booked into the garage for Wednesday and hoping it's a quick and cheap fix. It's our little runaround, rather than the family car, but you forget how much you end up relying on 2 working cars until there's an issue.

Annoyingly I'd got my hopes up for a Mcds breakfast after the GTT, but that ended up not happening 😭 had to make do with cereal instead.
