Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

Hope you're okay @rupertbear91 definitely monitor movements closely for a day or two to be sure.

@Honeyandsunshine1 I'm not sure of your style or vibe but I'm quite boho (not all of the time as being a farmers wife I'm mainly in scruffs 😂) I went boho for our wedding even though it was just us (I really wanted nice pics for the walls) I'd just lost a baby so was flat tummied but these are lovely examples of what I would have gone with if I'd had a bump.

Thank you! These look incredible. Do you have any recommendations for where to get something like this? It looks like it could be quite a flattering style for a big ollll potato like me 🤣

Also, I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It must have been a bittersweet day 🥺

Decaffe · 24/06/2024 21:29

@cd24x I had the exact same problem last week! Only for me the button was stuck in the locked (handbrake up) position. I called my garage and they fixed it over the phone. Sit in the driver’s seat and pump the brake pedal a few times. Then, press the brake pedal down as hard and as far as it’ll go. Try the handbrake (with the pedal still pushed firmly down) and the button should (might!) release!

Xur · 24/06/2024 22:28

@Decaffe The handbrake is not connected to the hydraulic braking system of the car. They are two separate braking systems.
The handbrake is a cable that’s attached to the wheel, the brakes on the brake pedal are powered by break fluid that is released onto the brake shoe (caliphers) which hug the brake disk fitted onto the wheel. Pressing the brake makes the brake calipher grab the disc creating friction and slowing down the car. The handbrake is designed to bypass the hydraulic system (in case it fails).
So pressing the brake pedal should not have any effect on the handbrake itself.

MudandMoet · 24/06/2024 22:31

@cd24x a that's a shame I was the same after my GTT went straight Macs for a brekkie... just remember, you're owed one 😋

@Xur In absolute all honesty I couldn't tell you where the handbrake button is on my car. I always just use the park mode. I'm too lazy to go and check now but can't wait to find it tomorrow 😂

@Honeyandsunshine1 I found ASOS did the best dresses in my style - a lot came up on Etsy or American sites when I was looking but I was too scared to risk it not being right. I have a matching dried flower crown and bouquet if you want me to send them over if you do go boho 🫶🏻💐

Decaffe · 24/06/2024 22:48

@Xur What can I say, it worked for me!

longingtobe23 · 25/06/2024 07:11

Trying to catch up but you’re all good mechanics by the sounds!

we have training days at work for this week but in 27 degree heat I feel guilty but I’m skipping them 😬… I might go on Thursday when it’s less hot but I felt so unwell yesterday and sweaty it was awful. I remember this pregnant with my son in august but not at 28 weeks

anyone else struggling? I am aware I’m lucky I can get out of work 🫣

Lillers · 25/06/2024 07:22

The water situation at work is not fixed yet so we’re working from home today! As a teacher this is such a rarity, I’m so excited 😂. It’s actually a godsend for me as I’m still trying to get to grips with my GD diet, and found it quite tricky at work yesterday to make sure I was eating the right things at the right times, and drinking enough. So this gives me another day to get on top of it.

HRP1990 · 25/06/2024 08:55

We’re about to take the plunge and order a Bugaboo Donkey! I can’t see anything about delivery times so I’m hoping it’s not over 11 weeks 🙈 just got to decide between black (boring but goes with everything!) or forest green, more “fun” but will I get bored of it? It’s definitely going to be a change from pushing a lightweight stroller lol

cd24x · 25/06/2024 08:59

@MudandMoet I think it may have been you that inspired the Mcds breakfast idea! Definitely owed one, depending on the test results.

@longingtobe23 Don't feel guilty about not going in. It's far too hot to do anything. I'm going in Thursday and meeting friends after work, so I hope the air con is working on the Elizabeth Line 😩

@Lillers Enjoy your WFH day. Get yourself out in the garden (in the shade), feet up and relax! Hoping you get more clarity on your GD diet. Since you were diagnosed, I've been reading up in anticipation of my test results - I'm convinced I'll have it this time round and it's so much to get your head around.

@HRP1990 how exciting! Personally I'd go for the green to spice things up a bit. Plus I'm biased and have a green Ickle Bubba that we got with DS.

And to everyone else - apologies for derailing the thread and turning everyone into amateur mechanics! Had no idea we could get from pregnancies to vehicles that easily! 😂All advice was greatly appreciated!

Lillers · 25/06/2024 09:08

@longingtobe23 Don’t feel guilty - we’re under a heat health alert (or something) so I think we’re all justified in taking things a bit more easily, as I definitely think we’re more vulnerable to the effects of heat!

Lillers · 25/06/2024 09:10

@cd24x I went out in the garden with a cup of tea this morning - even though I don’t really like tea anymore (I was addicted before the pregnancy!) so didn’t drink it, just the act of being out there with a tea was so calming. I live in an urban area but am so lucky to be surrounded by trees etc and loads of birds to listen to (alongside the planes 😂). It was such a lovely start to the day!

rupertbear91 · 25/06/2024 09:16

@longingtobe23 don't blame you at all. Also struggling in the heatwave. I have the luxury of wfh full time and until my first meeting at 11 today I will be working from my bed as it's the coolest room in the house. Also had 3 showers yesterday just to try and stop the sweating it's not pleasant!

Xur · 25/06/2024 09:42

I have the absolute opposite at work, my planner didnt turn up for work yesterday and I ended up covering for the office until 7pm, at my work the aircon hasn’t been cleaned in forever it’s dirty inside so I don’t switch it on to avoid inhaling mouldy spores. So I was sat here alone in like 29 degrees doing a 3 mans job. I told my employer to provide with someone to cover the afternoon because I’m not comfortable to do 12h shifts alone in this heat and they failed to do so. Today I will see if anyone turns up. So far I’m alone.

I have noticed I have neon yellow pee, very pigmented. Apparently that is also caused by vitamin overdose 🤣

FYI mechanic memes, I’m a certified road haulage transport manager and my husband is a mechanic and business owner who owns a workshop so I happen to know more about motors than I would like to 🤣

malimoon · 25/06/2024 09:44

@cd24x I went into town last night for theatre and can report the Elizabeth Line was beautifully chilled so you can look forward to that 😅

longingtobe23 · 25/06/2024 10:03

Thanks all! Makes me feel better. I was car sharing and I think I also panicked I would have to wait to go home and not escape as I needed too!

My Tripp trapp comes today! Managed to get a base and still have the newborn attachment from Marketplace 😂
I am meant to be continuing with the nursery but on pause until heat sods off! Also did a huge boots haul yesterday for baby / hospital bags and first weeks essentials. 28 weeks tomorrow and still not got my 32 week scan date for low lying, so I’ll ask my midwife Friday if she can shimmy that along. Wondering if it’s moved as it was particularly low almost at covering 😬 anyone else had their low lying confirmed moved yet?

MudandMoet · 25/06/2024 10:49

@cd24x I'll take the blame gladly 😂 Im averaging 2 macs a week. My diet this pregnancy has been shocking but she's still in there, booting away and on the middle centile line so I'm not going to worry about it 😊 have you had your results yet?

I pray that everyone on here who doesn't work from home has air con transport and offices/workspaces in this heat.

@HRP1990 Id go with green but it's my fave colour. I have seen a few about and it's just gorgeous.

I'm just sat in the gazebo and feeling a tad emosh. I'm looking at my line of baby clothes blowing (have just done the very last few bits) and just can't believe that's actually my line of washing 🥹💕

September 2024 - Thread 8!
Xur · 25/06/2024 11:25

@MudandMoet mega cute 🥰
just fyi, my grandma tore her peritoneum when hanging laundry when she was expecting my uncle on a rope like that outside. So be careful with the upward stretch when reaching for it.

SC126 · 25/06/2024 11:44

@MudandMoet ive also just set a wash off with a load of baby clothes. It’s very satisfying!

@HRP1990 id go green too. But I also bought the fox 5 in green so I’m a tad bias.

finally finished painting the nursery this weekend. Well my husband did not me 😂still lots to sort in there. It’s a tiny box room and I’m currently storing all bigger baby things so it’s hard to decorate properly until later on when I can move the moses basket and snuzpod out etc.

Decaffe · 25/06/2024 11:47

@HRP1990 I’d go for green, but we bought the Cosatto Wow 2 bundle in Bureau so we’re all about colour, texture and pattern! I can’t abide black plastic anything 😂

HRP1990 · 25/06/2024 11:50

Sounds like green it is lol. Imagine if we were all local to each other pushing our green prams along the road 😂🙊

cd24x · 25/06/2024 12:17

@Lillers jealous of your chilled morning. Our neighbours have the builders in, so it's not particularly peaceful here today! Hopefully will get outside when it's a bit cooler this evening whilst DS and DH water the plants.

@Xur at least you working in transport and having a mechanic DH is useful. I have a ridiculous amount of useless 90s wrestling knowledge from my DH 🙄

@malimoon thank you for the lizzy line update. I will look forward to it Thursday evening!

@MudandMoet love seeing a washing line full of baby stuff. I had some of DS stuff in with the baby bits the other day, and honestly can't believe the difference in size! It's going to be such a shock when baby arrives and DS isn't the baby anymore. No test results yet. My NHS trust don't use anything online for notes so waiting for a phone call. Although my 8 week blood results are on my standard NHS app, so hoping they might put these ones on soon. Worst case I've got 28 week growth scan and consultant appt tomorrow afternoon so I'll likely find out then if nothing today.

@Decaffe i love the Cosatto stuff! We've got the rotating car seat for DS, and we've bought the same for this baby as can be used from birth. This time we've got the rainbow design and i'm so excited to get it out of the box!

All this pram colour talk is making me want to get ours out of the loft and give it a good clean! I am so unmotivated to do anything that remotely resembles work today...

MrsM89 · 25/06/2024 12:58

@Cat2022 how are you doing? When's your follow up bloods due for slapped cheek? Xx

WinsandSam · 25/06/2024 14:27

Wish me luck ladies! I'd love to do doing nothing and chilling today.. but, I booked tickets for Foo fighters pre pregnancy. Tickets are standing. It's 25 degrees and it's going to be a challenge 🥵😂

Managed the walk into town and around the castle and got super dizzy! Will be eating a shed load of food and keeping the fluids up.

mrsbgb · 25/06/2024 14:53

Good luck @WinsandSam! I'm seeing Taylor Swift in August, and have standing tickets for that - I know at Wembley there's an unreserved seating section in the standing area, so fingers crossed for you FF have the same!

Is anyone here having/considering a home birth? I'm becoming increasingly concerned about the stats at our hospital (nearly a 50% c-section rate every month and 30% inductions) - which feel quite high. I'm going to speak to my midwife at my next appointment about options, but curious if I'm just overreacting?!

Cat2022 · 25/06/2024 15:26

@MrsM89 I have had to take the day off today as I’m ill from hfm so in bed feeling sorry for myself - these toddler nursery germs are no joke they sent an email saying measles are also going around but thankfully she is vaccinated so praying that she won’t get that. My follow up bloods for slapped cheek are tomorrow so hoping I don’t have to wait too long for results my hospital normally are 2-3 days. How are you doing?
