Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

@tryingfortwo2 my GP said loratadine or cetirizine hydrochloride are both fine in pregnancy. I also told the nurse at the fetal medicine unit I was taking it, and she agreed it's absolutely fine and reminded me they give babies antihistamines in neonatal units and not to worry at all. I just buy them over the counter.

rupertbear91 · 19/06/2024 11:32

@Khanga27 I have put a folded double duvet under the sheet on my side of the bed as I have a firm mattress too. Hips still hurt but not as bad!

Xur · 19/06/2024 11:43

Thank you ladies for the feedback ❤️

@tryingfortwo2 I am using Loratadine , was recommended to me by a pharmacist.

@BeautyAndTheBump1 It can also be haemorrhoids, you know there’s types of them. They can be deeper under the surface and they can be on the surface but inside or they can be outside which are the most painful ones. Like fibroids, technically it’s a varicose vessel.

MudandMoet · 19/06/2024 12:19

@Khanga27 I think I would definitely try a night on the spare room mattress just to see. 🤞🏼 it's a better nights sleep minus hip pain. My bed is a right mash up of cushions too right now, left hand side is my maternity pillow, right side a normal extra pillow, small extra pillow for knees! Poor DH has a slither to sleep on. I can't wait until I can sleep on my tummy and back again.

tryingfortwo2 · 19/06/2024 12:52

@Khanga27 i have a pillow under my bum/hips and that helps loads

@Xur @Foxtrotbeta the nhs website says loratadine and thats what I tried to buy over the counter in boots today (supermarkets nearby didn’t have it), and that’s what they wouldn’t give me 😭 but of course that’s what my doctor has now prescribed, and I need to wait 2 days for the prescription to be ready at the pharmacy.. the same pharmacy that has it sitting on the shelf that I tried to buy today. It’s so backwards, and such a waste of everyone’s time and resource!

Xur · 19/06/2024 13:12

@tryingfortwo2 I just walked into a pharmacy and they just gave it to me, it’s so weird how all differs across places

Khanga27 · 19/06/2024 13:23

@rupertbear91 @tryingfortwo2 thanks for suggestions, got a few things to try now.

@MudandMoet thanks, yeah I miss sleeping on my front so much!!

@RosiePH thanks, I looked at trustpilot which looked good. I did notice the bundle I saw had gone up slightly so I am a bit annoyed at myself for hesitating.

tryingfortwo2 · 19/06/2024 13:53

@Xur so frustrating. Had I gone to different pharmacy down the road, I bet it would’ve been fine. Such a waste of time.

MudandMoet · 19/06/2024 14:33

Just a quick update as I'd no idea what to expect. Health visitor has just gone. She was lovely. She asked an absolute array of questions like ....how were we parented ourselves and how would this affect how we bring our child up, do we have any worries about anything, do we have any mental health history, how is our relationship, will we agree on parenting styles and support each other etc
She showed us the correct position for bottle feeding, explained the importance of skin on skin for at least half hour each every day. It was really informative but some bits were very basic and common sense. Anyways, it's another thing ticked off the list.

Eeek 9 weeks today I'll be getting started off 🤞🏼 😬

Xur · 19/06/2024 14:55

@MudandMoet are they supposed to be coming to everyone’s houses? 🤨
NHS should already have record of mental health history. I was asked this on my initial appointment.

WinsandSam · 19/06/2024 15:15

Anyone else a sun worshiper like me? I usually can sunbathe and enjoy it. Today it's 19 degrees, tried to sit out and read. My god I was sweaty and dizzy 🥴 must be more sensitive to the heat

malimoon · 19/06/2024 15:22

@WinsandSam I'm pretty sure you/we also sunburn more easily in pregnancy so make sure you slap on the suncream!

WinsandSam · 19/06/2024 15:32

@malimoon don't worry, I'm factor 50'd up! Although on the sofa now as I can't handle it

MudandMoet · 19/06/2024 17:35

@Xur yes she said it's part of the maternity health care plan up and down the country so I assume so. I had a letter 3 weeks ago to confirm the appointment.

I had my 28 week midwife appointment today and she mentioned about the health visitor getting in touch soon. I don’t actually remember this with my daughter.. unless things have changed in the last 2 years? She’s actually coming over tomorrow for her 27 month review so I’ll have to ask her!

fleur89 · 19/06/2024 18:14

Interesting, I've not been told anything about a health visitor appointment before the baby is here. I'm almost 29 weeks 🤔

Lillers · 19/06/2024 18:15

I got a generic letter from the health visitor saying that at some point they’d send me an appointment.

I know my colleague who’s pregnant had hers online the other day because they would only offer her times while she was at work.

Xur · 19/06/2024 18:44

I’ve not had any letters nor did my midwife mention this on my 28 week appt. Let’s see if someone turns up in the end 😂

Khanga27 · 19/06/2024 18:57

@MudandMoet I’m wondering whether I should ask someone - I’ve not had health visitor mentioned to me by my midwife or anyone else and I’m 30 weeks on Thursday. We had questions at 8 week midwife appointment at the house about mental health, relationship, whether we did drugs etc.

tryingfortwo2 · 19/06/2024 20:35

I’ve not heard any mention of a HV visit either, nor did I get one in my first pregnancy 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m 30 weeks so next midwife appt is at 32 weeks for me, maybe they’ll mention it then…

MudandMoet · 19/06/2024 20:56

@Khanga27 ahh that could have covered it then (and others who had similar early on) for you because we haven't had a midwife home appointment or those questions until today.

@HRP1990 I wonder if as you're already in touch with a health visitor for your other DC they don't bother (even though it's super spaced apart for their visits, think she mentioned up to 8 weeks then again at 12 months and then not again until 2-2.5 years!)

Honeyandsunshine1 · 19/06/2024 21:22

Hope today went okay @WinsandSam! 🥰

I’m honestly walking around looking 40 weeks pregnant… I’m not even 30 yet. We went to the local town hall to do our notice of marriage today (🤭🤭🤭 we’re having a “secret” wedding in a few weeks, and inviting people to a low key event but it’ll actually be our surprise wedding reception) and the registrar looked shooketh when she asked my due date and I didn’t provide a date that was within the next week or so 😂😂

MrsM89 · 19/06/2024 21:25

@Honeyandsunshine1 i am feeling this too. I get asked how long have you got and I'm like 12weeks. People look shocked. Tbh I feel so big already I'm not surprised. Xx

Gosh I am surprised by the intrusiveness of a lot of these questions…!

WinsandSam · 19/06/2024 22:09

@Honeyandsunshine1 thank you! All fine blood pressure and urine wise. Just waiting for my blood results now.

Wow, that's super exciting for you and such a lovely idea 💡

Like you I feel huge and although some tell me I have a very "neat" bump, others comment on how big my babies going to be 😂
