Continuation from thread 7 over here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5070517-september-2024-thread-7?page=40

Can't believe we filled the last thread up already feels like it wasn't even made that long ago, gosh time is absolutely flying by!!

@WinsandSam - I'll have to ask about CBT for sure, thanks so much for the recommendation - maybe I'll actually get some help seeing as I'm pregnant!

I've been trying to get mental health support for... Well to be honest since teen-hood and realising my daily crying was not in fact "just my period/puberty" as every doctor told me it was (all males ofc, typical 🙄) so I don't hold out much hope if I'm being honest.
I originally wanted to wait until my MH was sorted before ttc, but after over a decade I was running out of fertile time frankly, so here I am still with crazy anxiety and emotional dysregulation, but what can ya do?! 😅

As requested a new thread for us all! 🥰 can't believe its thread 7 already! Then hopefully by thread 14 we'll all have our babies in our arms talkin...

Also @MudandMoet take them with an orange or orange juice as the vitamin c helps you absorb it 🧡 🍊

Lillers · 18/06/2024 21:40

@Decaffe I was reading up on pregnancy gym balls today and thinking about ordering one. Just got to decide which one would be best. They don’t seem too expensive but it does sound like it’s best to get one that is suitable for pregnancy so it doesn’t pop under our weight 😂

rupertbear91 · 18/06/2024 21:45

Thanks everyone I just have to be patient and wait for the ecg results now to confirm how much of an issue the fluid is causing my heart, but I will stay away from Google and try to keep my mind off catastrophising although adding in pregnancy hormones is easier said than done 🤦🏽‍♀️

MudandMoet · 18/06/2024 22:07

@Honeyandsunshine1 brilliant thank you! Honestly the crouching I think was because I was scared I was going to faint. The farm shop is tiny and I looked a right dick keep pretending to tie a lace or something. It was the strangest feeling. Will stock up on OJ too thank you 🫶🏻

I read today baby is around 41cm long now. 41cm!!!! That's freaking huge! Around 1.4kg too! It's blown my mind she's getting so big already.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 18/06/2024 22:31

I know 😫 feels like yesterday the test flashed with a positive. I had my 28 week growth scan a few days ago and they estimated her at 3lb 1oz already. I was like huh??? It seemed way too big to me but she’s 70th centile so fairly average.

Once July is over, we’ll be on the home run 😱 @MudandMoet

Xur · 18/06/2024 23:53

people get growth scans at 28W? I’ve not been scheduled for one. My next scan is at 32 W😬

@rupertbear91 remember we are supposed to have some liquid around the heart to cushion it anyway and it is also not uncommon to have that fluid rise in pregnancy. Try to keep a stiff upper lip, if the specialist wasn’t too worried at the outcome of the scan, I wouldn’t worry too much at this stage. There’s all sorts of weird things that happen to our bodies during pregnancy, yet are within the pregnancy experience norm. 💛

the baby’s snuzpod arrived today, I assembled it after work. I don’t know why I was excited about it that was the last big thing we bough from the baby expo.

malimoon · 19/06/2024 00:34

@Xur I had the growth scan (today at 25+4) because my bump was measuring big at my 25 week midwife appointment, so they referred me. Otherwise I wouldn't have had a scan until 32 weeks (and even that is an extra one to look at my fibroids!). So if you're looking on track size wise I don't think it's a routine thing 🙂

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 19/06/2024 06:41

Ladies I need some advice 🙈

TMI - but last night I discovered that I think I have some form of prolapse...I noticed a heavy swollen feeling down below so felt down there and it was swollen and bulging just below the entrance of my vagina...asked hubby to feel incase I was imagining it and he could feel it too.

What do I do? Do I contact my midwife? Or GP? My midwife has just referred me for physio for my pelvic floor as I pee everytime I vomit/cough/sneeze

I feel a little embarrassed to contact the GP tbh 🙈

HRP1990 · 19/06/2024 07:07

@BeautyAndTheBump1 not sure if this is relevant but had you just had sex? I had what sounds like this a few weeks ago after we had had sex, it did go away not long after though

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 19/06/2024 07:31

@HRP1990 nope, it's been untouched since January 😂

Yeah mine are supposed to be 28w, 32w and 36w. Do you have to schedule your own growth scans or do they do them for you automatically? I have to schedule my own and didn’t even know I was meant to have growth scans until I was actually 28 weeks, so that was a frantic week of them trying to find me an appointment 🤣 x

Xur · 19/06/2024 07:58

@Honeyandsunshine1 My scans get booked in by midwife and professionals. I had one at 20, then consultant scan at 22, next one scheduled for 32 and 37.
In the beginning I was told to book my own midwife appointments but she has been managing those aswell.

Cinai · 19/06/2024 08:10

@BeautyAndTheBump1 at some point I also felt that ‘something is there’, just like a weird swollen thing. But next day it was gone again…I’ve put it down to enlarged blood vessels causing swelling (I had done some exercise beforehand). I asked at my next appointment about a prolapse and was told that I’d constantly feel it. If it disappears again it might be ok, otherwise probably worth checking it out.

WinsandSam · 19/06/2024 08:20

@Honeyandsunshine1 that's good to know! I'm off for bloods this morning due to ongoing dizziness. Was anaemic last year so wondering if it's the same

@Lillers @Decaffe I have a pregnancy ball and it's fab!! Honestly won't regret it. Have used mine for Pilates classes. Was initially scared it might pop but I assure you it'll be fine. I got a cheap one off amazon for about £15

@rupertbear91 wishing you all the best. Sounds really scary as your heart but I'm sure it's something they see a lot. Be kind to yourself

Khanga27 · 19/06/2024 08:31

Hi all, just wanted to ask something. I saw on last thread someone ordered from a company called Eclipse the Stokke high chair bundle and I was looking to order this too. Just wanted to check what experience was like as I’ve never heard of company and stuff like that makes me nervous?

I’ll be 30 weeks tomorrow. My hips are killing me at night now, so pregnancy belt recommendations also appreciated 😊

tryingfortwo2 · 19/06/2024 08:56

@BeautyAndTheBump1 tmi.. but was it to the side, like at your labia? Could it be a vulva varicosity? A soft bulge that comes and goes, tends to appear more if you’ve been standing for a while and disappear when you lie down? Sounds grim, but I had one at the later stages the first time round and it was totally fine, didn’t cause me any issues. I’m just waiting on it appearing again this time… disappeared straight after pregnancy.

My bump is agony today, like in tears in the middle of the night agony. My hayfever was horrific yesterday so I think I’ve hurt myself sneezing 42728 times. Waiting on the pharmacy opening to get my hands on some pregnancy-friendly antihistamines as none of the shops near us seem to stock loratadine 😢

PoppingUp · 19/06/2024 09:12

@tryingfortwo2 im sorry you're feeling so rough! If you have pulled something in your bump try to rest it up! I tried pushing through last week and it made it much worse and I was really worried it was going to just feel that sore for the rest of the pregnancy but after a very slow weekend and cutting down on walking mine is totally back to normal now!

tryingfortwo2 · 19/06/2024 09:31

@PoppingUp thank you♥️ it’s so sore around my belly button, when she moves I flinch in pain. And the pharmacy wouldn’t give me any antihistamines, told me to phone the doctor who said it’s the pharmacist’s job 🥲 waiting on the doctor calling back. Should’ve just bought them, but went to pay (in a Boots) and thought I’d double check they were the pregnancy safe ones.. sabotaged myself!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 19/06/2024 09:44

@tryingfortwo2 Nope it's literally more of a bulge at the very bottom of my vagina opening and then you can feel the bulge at the part between the vagina & anus. TMI sorry, pregnancy for ya 😂 I've downloaded the NHS pelvic floor app so gonna get on a strict schedule doing those. Sorry to hear you're feeling so rough too, hope you manage to pick some anti histamines up quickly to give you some relief!

MudandMoet · 19/06/2024 09:57

@Xur I also had a growth scan at 28 weeks, they estimated baby to be around 2.9lb. When you leave the previous appointment at my maternity unit they automatically make the next appointment there and then. I'm also on every 3-4 week appointments but assume that's because of my age.

@Khanga27 in the cottage we stayed in over the weekend the mattress was super firm and my god I've never felt hip pain like it, all night long. Back home, on my not so firm mattress they're absolutely fine again, no pain at all, so I'm wondering if a firm mattress doesn't suit pregnant ladies hips in general. Curious to know... is your mattress a firm one? If you have what I had over the weekend every night my sympathies are with you. It was so unpleasant.

fleur89 · 19/06/2024 10:01

I think if you're low risk the nhs literally only scan you at 12 weeks and 20 weeks, which I find rather scary! Maybe they scan you at the end too to check the baby's position, not sure tbh

I'm high risk so have nhs scans at 6, 12, 20, 28, 36 weeks for sure. But at my 28 week scan tomorrow they will decide if I need to schedule them in more frequently. I was high risk in the first trimester due to recurrent miscarriage and was identified as high risk again at my 20 week scan due to elevated uterine dopplers.

I'm going private though so inbetween my nhs scans I am seen privately... basically I'm scanned every 2-3 weeks 😂

Cat2022 · 19/06/2024 10:36

@xur Last time I initially only had the standard scans at 12 and 20 weeks and then did end up with a growth scan at 35 weeks (bump was measuring big) and a post dates scan at 41 weeks.

This time I have growth scans at 28,34 and 39 weeks but every trust will be different on their timings even for the same reasons. Mine is for low Papp-a which I know you have too so I’d just presume it’s your trusts policy being different with timing.

Khanga27 · 19/06/2024 11:04

@MudandMoet I think we do have a firm mattress. I stayed at a hotel last month with a softer mattress and found it a lot easier to sleep in. Maybe I should try the spare room mattress in case it’s softer, unless there’s a way to get more cushioning in our bed…

RosiePH · 19/06/2024 11:21

@Khanga27 that was me. I haven’t actually ordered it yet but I’m not too worried. It looks like a small nursery store in NI. Their trustpilot reviews look good, but I’ll pay via Mastercard anyway just to be on the safe side.

Delivery is free to mainland UK.
