The cramps are honestly such a head fuck.

I can’t think of any other time in life where you want the pain to increase 🤣

Ad12345678 · 17/06/2024 13:38

Thanks all for the compliments. I guess it was my way to feel in control at least of that one thing in my life now 🤣 it was also very recommended as I have gestational diabetes and they’re very quick in my hospital to hand out formula if babies can’t maintain their own sugars.
Volume changed so much - I went from 1 ml to 0.1 ml next day and then 2.5ml and then 2 drops again. There was zero logic in it

glasshalffull0 · 17/06/2024 14:47

Does anyone with particularly big boobs have advice for harvesting colostrum? I'm seeing the midwife on Wednesday so I will ask her then too but it's really disheartening to not be able to get anything!

My areola is quite large and then my actual boobs are large too (38H maternity bra currently) and they're not perky so I'm struggling to make the C shape properly or find the optimum distance from the nipple

Ad12345678 · 17/06/2024 14:57

@glasshalffull0 I would just do it with 2 hands at the same time maybe?

DanisEndo · 17/06/2024 15:35

@glasshalffull0 i don’t have particularly large breasts in the slightest but I found the C technique didn’t really work in the way I thought. I started by trying to cover quite a large section of my boob but actually have found success with just applying pressure much closer to my nipple. Closer on top and slightly further down below. Almost gentle pinching? And only gets started if my nipples aren’t erect.

Due in two days!! Wed 19/06/24 🩵 no sign of baby yet!!

MizzMarple · 17/06/2024 15:56

I know exactly what you mean about the cramps @Anxiousheartbeat!

I’ve been so sick last night and today. I probably should go back to triage to get fluids but I just can’t face it. I feel so miserable. But this time tomorrow I’ll have a baby and each time the sickness has ended immediately.

Sick as in vomiting?! Poor you, that’s horrendous! Yay for this time tomorrow for you!!

another day of fucking contractions - at one stage lasting 1 min every 10 mins and feeling quite strong. Of course now they have tapered off. Thank you body, thanks a lot 🤦🏻‍♀️

MizzMarple · 17/06/2024 16:21

Yeah I have hyperemesis and it’s got worse in the last few weeks. It’s lasted to the end in all my pregnancies. I was horrendously sick in my last c section and in my first labour too. Just clinging on to how great I’ll feel once the baby’s born.

i hope your contractions get stronger soon!

Hey girls, I know a few of us had a sweep booked for tomorrow. I ended up getting mine done today at my hospital appointment.. please don’t worry it really isn’t that bad. A little uncomfortable but nothing major she was able to get a good sweep and could feel my waters. I am 1cm.

Any action since? How many weeks are you?

Suchardchoccy · 17/06/2024 20:09

@Redheadx has it done anything??

Redheadx · 17/06/2024 20:16

@Anxiousheartbeat @Suchardchoccy I am 40 weeks plus 4.
I only got it done around 5pm so too early to tell. I have been a 30 min walk after and bouncing on my ball as recommended by the midwife to keep active. Nothing so far just a little tender down below. She said she could feel my waters but had to be careful not to burst them. I’m hoping it kicks something off I will update you all in the morning

39 weeks tomorrow! My first was born at 39+1, hoping this little one doesn't come any later as I'm so sore all over my body. I was very active today and felt like my body was going to split in half from the pain.
Lower back and legs are super sore and can barely get up and move around without any pain the past week or so ..

Ad12345678 · 17/06/2024 22:58

Had my 39 weeks appointment today. Nothing but bad news every time I get close to this hospital... They said the baby isn't engaged - 1st babies should be by now and he is back to back (was in a good position a week ago). Started talking inductions and sections... They said to come in on Thursday to check position and then they'll probably admit me for 2 days on Monday (40 weeks mark) to... check position again a few times a day?? Could someone explain to me why they might want to do it? I also wonder why the engagement is such a big deal in the 1st pregnancy and nothing in 2nd and more? For context - it's a high-risk diabetes clinic and they generally don't allow to go over 40+7.

Is the baby head down? I’m not an expert on this btw but my first was back to back and no one noticed (induced for separate reasons) and I think there are exercises you can do to turn the baby but equally I don’t think it’s a huge issue if they are back to back it’s just more uncomfortable but ultimately fine. Breech is obviously another story! I wouldn’t let people talk you into induction etc without a decent reason.

my pains are quite a bit stronger now/upset tummy as well so having a 4.30am bath like a maniac as I now think this is it (would be pretty mortifying if the deeper pains turn out to be upset stomach pains 🤣)

Anxiousheartbeat · 18/06/2024 07:26

After hours of contractions being 5-10 mins and 2-3 mins long and feeling like labour (I was convinced baby would be here before lunchtime, got all homebirth stuff ready) they have fucking tapered off and just random. Midwife going to come over and check I think I’m going to just get a sweep I'm
40+4 now and I can’t go on like this - if she doesn’t want to come the sweep won’t work anyway but surely she’s ready?

Ad12345678 · 18/06/2024 08:39

@Anxiousheartbeat he is head down yes, I think the main issue is him not being engaged by now… but I don’t get why they’re worried

Suchardchoccy · 18/06/2024 08:40

@Redheadx ah okay, good luck!!

@Anxiousheartbeat that's so annoying, I would get a sweep. I'm getting mine today the midwife is coming around 12:30

I don’t really get that either tbh

Suchardchoccy · 18/06/2024 08:54

@Anxiousheartbeat 🤣🤣 actually makes me feel a bit better about it!

Wheeeeee · 18/06/2024 08:55

Morning everyone 🙂 I'm also getting the regular night time cramps that vanish as the sun rises. I'm looking on it as my body doing good prep, and hopefully a positive sign that things are moving in the right direction. Trying to stay Zen but it's not easy!

I have a midwife appointment on Friday when I'm 40 weeks exactly and she'll offer a sweep then, which I'm hoping will kick things off. In the meantime, our boiler has gone kaput and DH's phone has died irretrievably so we've a few things to try to get sorted 🤦🏼‍♀️

Good luck to everyone with sweeps/C sections/random cramping that might be labour...!

Anxiousheartbeat · 18/06/2024 09:29

Ok midwife coming now everyone pray for me please that 1) my cervix is open and I’m at least 3-4cm Gone (I’ve been told By baby 4 it’s always 2cm at this stage anyway) and 2) either labour kicks off on its own NOW or the sweep does the job then and there as im
now mentally prepared for this

good luck everyone
