@MixedCouple2 It would have been!
Baby is very wriggly today, and I feel really hungry as well. Also knackered as I didn't get much sleep. Can't tidy my flat properly either as I've got a load of recycling I need to get rid of and the bins are full.

Nocoffeenotalkie · 12/07/2024 14:14

2nd sweep done. Still just 1cm dilated easily stretched to 2cm but cervix is now 1cm long which is less than last week. Section booked in for early next week so we've just got this weekend for her to come on her own terms before a forced eviction 😀

I'm not holding my breath. Would be great if it kick started labour but my first was so overdue or wasn't funny. Always knew two weeks early was not overly likely.

AnonymousXXIX · 12/07/2024 15:18

Ugh anxious I can't see my midwife till mid next week. That consultant has really stressed me out, which is obviously unhelpful in a number of ways. I'm inclined to refuse induction but also clueless as to what else to do!

That's annoying! Have you tried ways to induce at home?
As your dilated a bit your body maybe more receptive to things you can do it home.

I am going to start these from Next Monday.

The 5 fastest ways to induce labor: How to bring on contractions fast | Fast Labor Induction

Are you looking for the fastest way to induce labor? Then you have come to the right place. In this video, Nathalie Kaufmann, Pregnancy and Birth Consultant ...

AnonymousXXIX · 12/07/2024 15:37

Oh yes, I have watched all those videos! But I have no idea if any of it is making any difference as no one has checked my dilation or cervix or whatever. My midwife is only available one day a week, and she refused to check this week as it was 'too early' (day before disaster hospital appointment). I have had zero signs of labour or my body preparing for labour. And I didn't have any last pregnancy either - labour started 3 days after due date and lasted 3 days. So unfortunately I am not too surprised that nothing is going on right now.

SapphireSeptember · 12/07/2024 15:57

Urgh, has anyone else got a dodgy tummy? I keep getting stuck on the loo! Annoying when I'm trying to get stuff done. 😰

wannabe123 · 12/07/2024 15:59

@SapphireSeptember hope you're feeling ok. It can be an early sign of labour!

SapphireSeptember · 12/07/2024 16:44

@wannabe123 😱 Oh no! Baby's moses basket bedding is in the washing machine, he can't come yet! Otherwise it won't be dry in time. And I need to go and pick up orders from Boots and Argos tomorrow. I ordered some last little bits. 😊 Maternity knickers and pads from Boots (as well as some fripperies,) and sling, changing mat and travel changing mat from Argos.

Funnily enough the lady at the housing association helping me with my application is going on maternity leave today herself. And she's having a little boy too! 🥰

Morningcoffeeaddict · 12/07/2024 18:29

@SapphireSeptember - I’ve had it on and off for a few days but no sign of actual labour yet. Think it’s one of the signs that could mean labour is very soon or could mean it’s still a week or so away. Feel like everything is a sign of labour approaching at this stage!!

SapphireSeptember · 12/07/2024 20:05

@Morningcoffeeaddict Indeed! My tummy hurts and then it stops, my back has been hurting, my bump feels so heavy I can barely walk. Just feeling fed up now!

Really want to order a takeaway, but I've run out of milk and toilet paper, so I should really go to the shop instead. But I don't want to because I'm tired and I can't be bothered. 🥱

Morningcoffeeaddict · 12/07/2024 20:27

@SapphireSeptember - feeling exactly the same - sore back and heavy bump / achey pelvis (to go with all the toilet trips). Drove the school run today which is a 10minute walk usually as I just couldn’t face it and accidentally slept all afternoon

SapphireSeptember · 12/07/2024 20:53

@Morningcoffeeaddict Don't blame you! I've been sleeping on and off all day, but had a phone call from the housing association and my friend dropping off a moses basket to deal with, so I couldn't sleep right through and had to keep getting up.
I ordered the pizza, a Hawaiian with extra ham and pineapple. Blush And some chocolate cinnamon dough balls. I had some last year and they were really good. 😋 And some full fat coke. Figured I'll treat myself as I've got somewhere for me and baby to live. 😅 Plus I'm really hungry! I do have food in the house but I have to cook it.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 12/07/2024 21:08

@SapphireSeptember - takeaway sounds like an excellent call! I’ve not felt massively like cooking this whole pregnancy so we’ve been back to basics for the last few months but this last couple of days I’ve given up and we’ve had a few oven ready meals / takeaways. Not long to go now though!

SapphireSeptember · 12/07/2024 21:19

@Morningcoffeeaddict I very rarely get takeaway, it's a once in a blue moon thing, but that's because I can't afford it very often. At this point in pregnancy as long as everyone is fed and watered I consider that a plus. 😁
When I'm feeling lazy toast, salads and things like that are what I eat a lot of.

HereAtlonglast · 12/07/2024 22:00

random question (can’t find answer on Google).

can you lose mucus plug or have a bloody show whilst swimming? Wondering if it’s like a period bleed and slows down in water? Swimming every couple of days and suddenly got paranoid today about ending up in an embarrassing situation!!!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 12/07/2024 22:17

@SapphireSeptember - I love toast for an easy meal - my husband used to say that left to my own devices he’s pretty sure it’s all I’d ever eat. He’s less tolerant of that as a meal so he’s having to step up and cook or accept my ready meal choices at the moment

SapphireSeptember · 12/07/2024 22:55

@HereAtlonglast I have no idea. That's a head scratcher for sure. I'd assume so. Could you ask your midwife or local maternity unit if they know?

@Morningcoffeeaddict Nowt wrong with toast. 😁 At least he can cook, I've known several men in my time who cannot.
An early night for me, I ate a big pizza and those dough balls, stuffed myself and now I feel very sleepy.

wannabe123 · 12/07/2024 23:01

@HereAtlonglast when I lost mine it only came out when I wiped and didn't just fall out so I think you'd be ok

I am still swimming, briefly thought about this but I assume the swimsuit would contain it as well.

Roxystar23 · 13/07/2024 09:09

Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted in quite a while but I've been checking in and reading daily. Congrats on all the new arrivals & hoping that those of you who are still waiting are not in too much discomfort!

I'm 38+3. I've said that I don't want to be induced or have a sweep. We have agreed that I am pencilled in for an elective between 39 & 40 weeks unless baby decides to come naturally beforehand. The consultant gave me a choice of having my section between 39 & 40 or 40 & 41. I feel like I'm in limbo as I won't know my section date until I get the phone call which I'm told will be 3 days prior so I can go and get blood work done. Also makes things quite difficult for arranging childcare. However, my hospital bag is now packed and that seems like such a massive achievement because I put it off for so long. I just didn't have the energy.

AnonymousXXIX · 13/07/2024 11:09

I haven't finished packing my hospital bag, which def added to the stress of the suggested induction this week! I have to collect something from Boots, and waiting for something from Amazon, so I think I might have it ready Tuesday ish........

Jess725 · 13/07/2024 12:29

40+5 send help!

Bali200 · 13/07/2024 13:49

I hear you @Jess725 😭 feels like bubs is never going to arrive and if one more person asks ‘baby not here yet?’ I don’t think I can be held responsible for my actions 😂

Had a sweep on Thursday and midwife felt really positive about it, it’s made me lose my mucus plug but that’s it. Have you had any signs yet? X

MixedCouple2 · 13/07/2024 15:42

@AnonymousXXIX awwww yeah I knownit os a lot. But give them a go. Some women do the Mile Circuit x3 a day.

I have just been super active cleaning and scrubbing the skirting boards and up amd down the stairs side stepping.

The cramps come and go in the day not just night time now. Which reminds me of DS1 I just assumed I wouldn't have it like this again as 2nd baby.

Going to start Castor oil on Monday night with Verbane Tea. I been having just red raspberry but going to add the verbane from Monday. Will try Mile circuit on Monday to.

I thought I was late pqcking 😂 finished Hospital bag and Baby bag when I was 36 weeks. Just need to throw in my slides.

Awwwww guys who are at the EDD reber it is only an estimate. And can be off by 1-2 weeks. Not long left!

@roxystar hope baby shows up before then. But a lot of pressure but w
Either way they will be arriving very soon! We have possibly no childcare so may have to go for a home birth.

MixedCouple2 · 13/07/2024 15:46

@Morningcoffeeaddict 😂 my DH can't cook. When he has tried in the past it was awful. In his single days he would eat beans on toast, Tuna out of a can, and lots of pre made food or Greggs!!! Interestingly he was very slim. Then we got married and he put on the weight. Even on my off days what I make is like Michelin star for him 😂 even my fry ups!

I have taught him 3 basic recipes. Pesto Pasta with grilled chicken, stir Fry with veggies and beef and Shakshouka. All very simple and wrote those down for him. So in an emergency he can make those.
