How's everyone doing?

I turned 36 weeks yesterday and had a growth scan. All looking good and baby is sitting on their 95th percentile line still. Estimated weight is now over 7lb. I've got the consultant tomorrow. I'm hoping she will be as chilled about his weight as she has been previously. I've already been told they don't really want me going past 40 weeks due to previous c-section but also that they can't induce me unless it's with the balloon. I'm hoping we will be able to come up with a plan for the next few weeks to avoid having to have another c-section.
Must admit, I'm feeling a bit sore this morning and I think it's from the sonographer trying to get a clear measurement of baby's head. 🤦🏼‍♀️

AnonymousXXIX · 11/06/2024 12:56

34 weeks here, and baby is very much still diagonal! My midwife didn't seem concerned this week, but I am! I'd heard of breech before, but not 'oblique'. Been bouncing on my ball and doing pilates for two days straight, but baby hasn't turned in any other direction yet. Having a slight panic.

Amberellaella · 11/06/2024 15:27

35+5 here and just had my 36 week growth scan. Baby’s growth has slowed so I’ve got to come back in for scans next week and the week after and possibly come in for an induction at 38 not 39! Consultant not worried for now though, and baby is still indulging in regular karate parties so neither am I…

Bluebonnet3 · 11/06/2024 15:47

I'm one week away from my scheduled c-section! Eek! Currently 36+5 and had a consultant appointment yesterday, where we did the consent papers and scheduled me to come in the day before the surgery for blood tests and to pick up a prescription for something (to reduce stomach acid?) I'm supposed to take the evening and morning before the surgery.

I also have a growth scan scheduled for this Friday. I've been having regular growth scans because my son was small, but this baby appears to be pretty average sized. They still want me to have the baby early because of risk factors, mainly age (just turned 45) and ivf, as there is a higher risk the placenta will stop working sooner than 40 weeks.

I have a long list of things I want to do to get ready for the new baby, but all I tend to do lately is sit on the couch in front of the tv and knit, working on a new baby blanket. At least I've washed all the baby clothes (from newborn up to 3 months) that were in the loft! New baby girl will be wearing a lot of blue hand me downs!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 11/06/2024 16:35

34 weeks today! My community midwife has vanished off the face of the earth it seems which is a bit concerning, I haven’t seen her for 6 weeks now. Think it’s another week of maternity assessment doing my weekly check but isn’t 34 weeks meant to be a proper appointment where the midwives talk to you about something? I wanted to ask about colostrum harvesting and there’s not really time for that when you pop via MAU for your check up

Nocoffeenotalkie · 11/06/2024 17:29

@ExpectantEs CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so pleased you're both doing well.

bringmearainbow · 11/06/2024 17:54

Anyone else have or had oligohydramnios? Had my growth scan today and there's not enough fluid around baby will see consultant tomorrow but just wondered if anyone had any experience with it?

Amberellaella · 12/06/2024 10:25

Same here but opposite @Bluebonnet3 if Jr does arrive next week or the one after then he’s just going to have to wear pink as I don’t finish work until this Friday!

Anyone been induced for slowed growth before? I have many questions…

hopingfor23 · 13/06/2024 01:59

Just an update from us - baby boy arrived Tuesday 11th June at 34+4 via emcs after bloods showed infection following my waters rupturing at 30 weeks. His name is Cole and he weighed an amazing 5lb6 😍 he's currently away from us in special care but doing better by the minute so hopefully reunited soon. We are besotted he's perfect 💙

ceruleansky · 13/06/2024 02:43

@hopingfor23 glad you are both doing well, congrats momma ❤️

ceruleansky · 13/06/2024 19:43

Hi ladies,
I was wondering if any of you opted for an elective c section for your first birth and how the experience was, this is assuming you had no other complications (pre-e , bp, etc) and just wanted an elcs.
If any of you have gone through it, I'd like to know your thought process behind it, your experience and if you stand by your decision or have come to realize that vaginal birth would've been better..

Sophie3003 · 13/06/2024 19:59

@ceruleansky I had to have one due to breech for first baby and this is my second so don't have vaginal birth experience yet but am happy to share how I got on and how I feel now?

Sophie3003 · 13/06/2024 20:00

@ceruleansky it was deemed an elective as you get booked in and go in for it, no emergency circumstances

Savvy21 · 13/06/2024 21:35

@ceruleansky I don't think you can ever know whether a vaginal birth would've been better because you have no way of knowing what would've happened.

Cherubs4 · 14/06/2024 00:07

@hopingfor23 that sounds like a heavy experience, I'm sorry to hear that. Do you have someone that you can talk it through with in real life?
That's great that baby Cole is doing well, hope he gets to be with you soon - or already is!

ceruleansky · 14/06/2024 02:14

@Savvy21
That's true.. I'm unable to completely arrive at a decision. So far I have no reason to choose ab elcs.. except my fear of vaginal birth.

@Sophie3003
Sure! I would love to hear your experience. I just want to know if I'm making the right choice or doing something unnecessary.

ceruleansky · 14/06/2024 02:31

I have an appointment on Saturday, I'll be almost 34 weeks so I just want to inform them of my choice in case I get into an emergency scenario later.
I know I don't want to get induced because I've heard awful stories from my friends own experiences.
Would much rather go for a planned c section than an induction I think!
And my doctor has already spoken about getting induced at week 39+x if there are so signs of labour. IDK why inductions are so common now instead of just letting labour occur later..
Anyway, all this is pushing me to just get it done earlier with an elective.
