Hi everyone,

New thread for those of us due in November 2024. Old faces and new: welcome!

The last thread got a bit quieter as the Facebook group seems to be picking up. Link is here: fb.me/g/p_dSrSRkjpYfziyYWj/jkEMUg9j
It will expire in 48 hours so just ask if you need a new one!

Looking forward to hear how everyone is getting on as we approach/enter the second trimester ⭐️

How long did everyone wait for NIPT results? I've been waiting almost 3 weeks.

NHS one, 4 days. Private one, 5 days. Definitely contact them!

They didn't have them on Friday, just wondering if this delay is normal and how long I should wait before making contact again!

Riverstardust · 11/06/2024 13:52

@Catopia that does seem quite long but maybe that's just your area? 🤔 Would just keep chasing them tbh!

Catopia · 12/06/2024 08:27

Results back and all fine, can breathe now for the first time in this pregnancy and hopefully start to enjoy it a bit more!

meepthebeep · 12/06/2024 08:31

That’s great news @Catopia 😊

muddlingthrou · 12/06/2024 14:27

Anyone else craving alcohol? I had the odd small glass of wine in my last pregnancy, but haven't really touched any this time as I'm worried a taste will make me crave it more! Currently on holiday and eyeing up glasses of wine 🤦🏽‍♀️

Hello can we have a new link please? Thank you! X

ChocolateSaxophone · 13/06/2024 00:46

@muddlingthrou I feel your pain - really quite wanted to have a glass of something to finish off a fancy dinner recently and settled for a sip of DWs instead. Something to look forward to at Christmas maybe!

@Catopia glad you have all your information now - frustrating it took so long to come through!

@Flaimzy one of the FB group mods will do you a link soon. Bear in mind they don't seem to work on mobile - desktop is your best bet to actually get through to us!

ChocolateSaxophone · 13/06/2024 00:49

Really looking forward to my 20 week scan in two weeks time. Although I'm thrilled that my symptoms are mostly gone, it's a bit nerve-wracking when movements aren't consistent yet either. I've so far not had any private scans and I'm hoping to keep it that way... else I think I might get a bit addicted to checking in. I just hoping the next fortnight goes quickly. Anyone else struggling in this weird little interim period?

Yes! Finally my sickness is over which is wonderful but I am very anxious. I have a definite bump and I’m tired but still have a huge fear that something is wrong. I’ve felt a few little movements in the last couple of weeks but have had a few days of nothing now and it’s made me very anxious. My 20 week scan is in 3 weeks and I’m debating a private scan just to put a stop to the anxiety. I also haven’t had a private scan yet and could do without the cost of it!

I had a 16 week private scan to determine the gender. I’ve got another couple of weeks until the 20 week one, and not feeling any movement yet so just want it to hurry up and get here so I can check on her and make sure she’s okay.

I just wish I could feel something, then I could relax a bit! 😂

muddlingthrou · 13/06/2024 09:17

@ChocolateSaxophone - it's so hard, because a private scan does only put pause on the anxiety so not sure it's worth the expense if you can bear to hold out a little longer! We will all start feeling movements regularly soon - even those with an anterior placenta like me. I keep wondering if my bump is just from eating all the pies 🤣

1yearplan · 13/06/2024 16:50

I had a dream about getting drunk recently. I'm definitely missing alcohol, which I didn't in previous pregnancies.
I've got my 20 week scan next week. I'm looking forward to seeing her again. I've had lots of private scans and I love looking back at how much she's changed from being just a blob on the screen with a heartbeat to a fully formed baby I can feel wriggling around. I understand that scans aren't for everyone though.

Catopia · 13/06/2024 18:07

@ChocolateSaxophone If a scan will set your mind at rest for a bit it may be worthwhile, but perhaps call the midwife and see if they can see you for a quicker check in and it may also be worth speaking to them about how anxious you're feeling?

We're considering a private scan to check in, and just be able to say hi in a less medicalised setting as I was distracted answering questions and stuff for the first part of my 12wk scan that I didn't feel like I got to relax and enjoy the moment as much as my partner did, and with all the anxiety that followed afterwards with the NIPT etc I would quite like to just be able to enjoy it without all the distractions.

I'm 17 weeks now and can feel movement when they're really active and sliding around low down, but from our scan we have a little live wire in there... I have a feeling my third trimester is going to be hard work...!

LegoBear84 · 13/06/2024 19:32

Had 16 week midwife appointment today (16+3). After a little game of hide and seek finally got to hear baby's heartbeat, student midwife had to push the doppler right down in my pelvis!!
Do feel like I have a gymnast in training growing inside me most days.
Hope everyone is okay.

ChocolateSaxophone · 13/06/2024 19:33

@Catopia thank you for the advice, I appreciate it. I will be mentioning it to the team, but as for moving the NHS scan, I don't think I'm at that stage yet. I'm a big fan of sticking to the process. My nervy moments are fleeting and usually quickly followed up with retching and/or really bad heartburn! Just wishing the time away as usual. But I am keeping an eye on it - I think the line between nerves and anxiety can be blurry but so far so good.

@muddlingthrou that's exactly why I'm not keen on adding more scans - I think it's a lovely short term fix but has potential to make things more difficult. At least for me. If I stick to the rule of "NHS scans only' that's a harder line than "only occasional private scans" 😁

@1yearplan do you have scans on a regular basis, or just as and when?

@Negangirlxx sounds like you're in a similar space to me. Waiting but impatient!

@waryandbored should we make a pact? 😁 We can do this. Treatment as usual, and trust the process.

Negangirlxx · 13/06/2024 19:57

@ChocolateSaxophone

I am very impatient lol but I don’t wanna spend more money on scans just yet haha!

I just wish I could feel something, anything. That’s all I want!

mrssunshinexxx · 13/06/2024 20:25

Anyone else suffering badly with round ligament pain?

mrssunshinexxx · 13/06/2024 20:27

@muddlingthrou could you try a nice virgin cocktail see if that hits the spot
