Hi everyone,

New thread for those of us due in November 2024. Old faces and new: welcome!

The last thread got a bit quieter as the Facebook group seems to be picking up. Link is here: fb.me/g/p_dSrSRkjpYfziyYWj/jkEMUg9j
It will expire in 48 hours so just ask if you need a new one!

Looking forward to hear how everyone is getting on as we approach/enter the second trimester ⭐️

@carlymarie24 I asked the sonographer if he could hazard a guess and he said no, and when I’ve posted here about nub theory, there’ve been guesses both ways 😄 so it’s not definite that it’ll give anything away.

UnravellingTheWorld · 14/05/2024 12:16

@ChocolateSaxophone congratulations!!! I fully understand your relief - I have twins in the last two generations of my family, so I was VERY concerned as well!

Hope everyone's doing well today. I've been having horrible dreams, so emotions are high for me. I ordered Pirate Pete's "I'm a New Big Brother" for my toddler and it came today. I read it and started bawling!!!

muddlingthrou · 14/05/2024 12:30

@UnravellingTheWorld - omg, I've also been having vivid dreams that aren't particularly enjoyable... lots of finding myself suddenly widowed or losing my job 😱 guess that's just the hormones.

Anyone else having headaches? I've just started getting them the last few days, and paracetamol doesn't really touch the sides. It's extra annoying as my nausea has only just lifted, so was hoping to enjoy myself a bit for a change!

piechipsgravy · 14/05/2024 12:55

@muddlingthrou not every day but have had some horrible ones. I do paracetamol but also the 4head balm and sip a full fat coke and I heard that helps.

@piechipsgravy - ooh, might try the Coke trick. I'm sure it does have something to do with my blood sugar, as I feel quite shaky as well as headachy. Will look out for forehead balm too. Thanks for the tips.

Kinsters · 14/05/2024 13:59

I find coke great for a headache as well.

Riverstardust · 14/05/2024 16:59

Another good headache cure if you don't get on with fizzy currently. Lucozade sport is my go too, good for migraines too!

1yearplan · 14/05/2024 18:23

I like red coke for a hangover 😂

Okay bit of weird one... when I lie down I can feel the top of my uterus as it begins to rise up above my public bone (I'm 12 and a bit weeks) However, first thing in the morning before I get out of bed (and with a pretty full bladder!) it seems to be a lot higher, closer to my belly button. Once I've been to the toilet it has sunk back down again. Is this normal? In my head I feel it must be, gravity plus full bladder but wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced the same.
Thanks 😊

Yes definitely normal! That’s why later on in pregnancy you’ll need to wee whenever baby gives you a jab in your bladder!

waryandbored · 15/05/2024 06:35

I’m back to work today after 4 weeks off sick and 2 weeks Easter holidays. I’m feel really anxious as I’m still exhausted and being sick. It feels a lot better and more controlled but I have done the bare minimum for over a month so back teaching 30 kids, teaching PE, playground duty etc is going to test me! 13 weeks today!

piechipsgravy · 15/05/2024 06:40

@waryandbored good luck!

Good luck @waryandbored
Take it slow and have drinks/snacks to hand if needed.
The children will be so happy to see you!

meepthebeep · 15/05/2024 06:47

Good luck @waryandbored

UnravellingTheWorld · 15/05/2024 08:29

All the best @waryandbored make sure you snack and sit down often!

muddlingthrou · 15/05/2024 15:20

@waryandbored - let us know how you get on. I'm currently counting down the minutes until the end of the work day as I'm struggling with another headache. No joy sipping coke or taking paracetamol 😣I think I'm just not cut out for this working malarkey at the moment...

1yearplan · 15/05/2024 16:28

I hope you've had a good day @waryandbored
Feel better soon @muddlingthrou
I'm really struggling with acid reflux at the moment.

Maybe this is a silly question, it's my first baby and I'm wondering about layering for winter.

Do I get the sleeveless bodysuits for the base layer or ones with little cap sleeves?

Any top tips for winter welcome cause I need all the help I can get 😆

Saffster2024 · 15/05/2024 18:11

Hi, I’m new around here. 12+4 today and baby is measuring 13+1 at my nuchal scan today. I am 100% sure of dates so looks like it’s just another big baby, my last two were big also. Not ready to join the FB group just yet but lacking pregnant company, so nice to have found this place.

Welcome! It's private if you did want too, no one can see that you've joined ☺️

Saffster2024 · 15/05/2024 18:23

Ah thank you, that is reassuring. I’m going to wait a few weeks until it feels more real I think. I’ll jump in when ready.

Stibble · 15/05/2024 18:30

Hi @piechipsgravy - i’d like to join the fb group please but the link just takes me to fb in general, has it expired?

@ChocolateSaxophone - same! I have felt so sick that I was almost sure there were two in there. The sonographer halfway through the scan said ‘oh i should check there’s only one baby’ and i thought she’d seen something, but just the one! I was probably a bit too relieved, she looked surprised.

piechipsgravy · 15/05/2024 18:47

Anyone else have a close friend having fertility difficulties they've had to tell about their pregnancy?

Last time I told this friend I was pregnant she really distanced herself from me, I don't think we saw each other at all for 8-10 months. It was so lonely as we were really close before.
Things have got better since then between us, she's in a better place mentally and is pursuing the adoption route now, but I am still absolutely dreading telling her.
We whatsapp multiple times a week but see each other roughly once every 6 weeks now as we live 2hrs apart.

I am next due to see her in 2 weeks so need to tell her soon.

When DS was tiny I used the short sleeved bodysuits under everything. He was born in January and wore sleep suits pretty much until April I reckon. The following winter and the one just gone he had long sleeved body suits under most outfits. We’ve never used the sleeveless ones.. I think I’ll probably get short sleeved for this baby as they tend to be all wrapped up when you leave the house and you keep them all snuggled and warm at home.
