Hi everyone,

New thread for those of us due in November 2024. Old faces and new: welcome!

The last thread got a bit quieter as the Facebook group seems to be picking up. Link is here: fb.me/g/p_dSrSRkjpYfziyYWj/jkEMUg9j
It will expire in 48 hours so just ask if you need a new one!

Looking forward to hear how everyone is getting on as we approach/enter the second trimester ⭐️

@LegoBear84 and @Riverstardust i'm a late one too! mine is next fri 12th at 20+4! not sure on movements at the moment but get the odd butterfly feeling down low and a little like jump feeling (so hard to describe!)

taytay2020 · 11/07/2024 11:18

So excited to be feeling movement now! We had our scan last week at 20+0 and we could see them wriggling around but I didn't feel anything until 20+5. I wouldn't describe it as the bubbles or butterflies I've heard mentioned though - the best word I could think of was 'blob' like a single giant bubble in a lava lamp 😄 Anyone know what I mean?! And how I can describe it better?! 😂

muddlingthrou · 11/07/2024 11:24

Congratulations @taytay2020 - it's surreal and wonderful, isn't it?! For me, baby's movements feel like an elastic band twanging (though not sure if my anterior placenta has anything to do with that). I'm a bit ahead of you at 23+3 and the movements have really stepped up a gear even though they're muffled. I was feeling beaten up overnight 😂I got up for a wee and baby girl decided to have a dance party!

taytay2020 · 11/07/2024 11:58

@muddlingthrou Aww baby dance party! What I'm finding really sweet is that my husband can already feel the little kicks too, so he's really excited! He even felt the first one - he had his hand on my belly for a bit and mostly felt my gurgly digestive system doing its thing, but then I suddenly realised 'wait...did baby just punch you?!' 😍 Such a unique sensation!

LegoBear84 · 11/07/2024 18:44

Ahhh yay to all the wriggly babies!!
Had my 20 week scan this morning, despite them not being able to find me on the system then suddenly I was there.
Was all completed in 20 mins which I felt was super quick, I'd booked 2 hours off work!! Couldn't give a definite gender though as baby wasn't playing, she said she couldn't see any boy bits but couldn't confirm girl as legs were closed!! Bit frustrating as it was very clear with our first he was a boy at 20 weeks 😂 I've ummd and ahhhd all day about a private scan as it would be another 12 weeks for a growth scan, but finally caved and booked one for 20th July. Semi rationalising by saying our 5 year old can come along too which will be a nice experience for him. So fingers crossed this mini gymnast is co operative on the day 🤞

I’m almost 23 weeks now, and have an anterior placenta, so didn’t feel baby for ages. This past week though, she has been ACTIVE. If I sit still or lie down, she takes full advantage and wiggles about, flips around, all sorts. I’ve even started feeling the odd movement outside my body and seeing visible twitches. It’s crazy how fast things can progress in just one week!

Hi Ladies,

Has anyone had a chance to hear their babies heartbeat? I was expecting to be able to hear it at my 20 week scan but the Sonographer said they don’t offer it and your midwife can do it instead?

Ah, that's such a shame - I'm sorry you didn't get to hear it!

I don't think our trust has a policy as such - it just depends on the individual sonographer. At our first 20 week scan, he didn't let us listen but we ended up having to go back as they couldn't get a clear shot of the kidneys and the second sonographer let us listen without being asked/prompted.

I would have been quite upset if they didn't let us hear tbh as I didn't get to hear it at the 16 week appointment as our trust don't use the doppler at 16 weeks (but I know many still do! It seems very inconsistent!)

Kinsters · 13/07/2024 14:32

@Mindfullofideas I've never heard it this pregnancy actually. I am not in the UK so it's a bit different but I have a scan every month and some Drs have the sound on the machine and others don't. The one I see at the moment keeps it muted. I can see it flickering away though which is nice.

I’m glad you got to hear your baby’s heartbeat and yes I agree, very inconsistent. I’m not sure if it’s a Trust thing or just Sonagrapher preference. Fortunately, they did point out the heartbeat too so we could see it beating a way.

Hopefully, we get to hear the heartbeat at the next Midwife appointment.

That’s nice you get to have a scan every month. I’ve had my last one now under the NHS so the next ones we will have will be private.
Hopefully, you also get to hear your baby’s heartbeat at some point too :)

SouthwestSis · 13/07/2024 16:20

No I didn't get to hear the heartbeat at 20w scan but I don't really feel any need to now I can feel her wriggling away inside daily, seems she is a feisty one!

Hey! Just wondering if someone would be able to help me out with a Facebook link to the group. Thanks 😊

ChocolateSaxophone · 17/09/2024 06:43

@Mindfullofideas try this: https://fb.me/g/3LKQrxkid/eo3QcPCc

It may not work on mobile - others have reported issues on anything other than a browser. This link will expire after 48 hours or 20 clicks.

Thanks, I tried to click the link but it says I’m either already apart of the group (which I was previously before I temporarily deactivated my facebook), I left the group or I have been removed by admin. Though, when I search the group up on ‘my groups’ it doesn’t come up.

If you’re an admin can I PM you my name and see if I can be readded that way?

ChocolateSaxophone · 17/09/2024 11:45

@Mindfullofideas yes, go ahead and PM me and I'll take a look.
