Hi everyone,

New thread for those of us due in November 2024. Old faces and new: welcome!

The last thread got a bit quieter as the Facebook group seems to be picking up. Link is here: fb.me/g/p_dSrSRkjpYfziyYWj/jkEMUg9j
It will expire in 48 hours so just ask if you need a new one!

Looking forward to hear how everyone is getting on as we approach/enter the second trimester ⭐️

@Catopia let us know how you get on! We decided not to pay for NIPT so just waiting to see what anatomy scan indicates.

I'm also 35 so had a cut of in my head before we had screening done of 1:400 or higher risk that that we would pay for the NIPT so @Saffster2024 I wouldn't have worried with your result, as chocolatesax says its lower risk than average pregnancies at our gestation.

Feels like a long way to my next appointment now which includes GTT so I'm not looking forward to it!

Honestly, I'm getting more anxious about it as it approaches now. I need some good vibes please everyone.

Hey, has anyone been given their second scan at 22weeks not the usual 20 weeks? Feels so far out, wondering if I can change it

taytay2020 · 20/05/2024 12:45

@daydreamer94 That seems really late, ours was booked in person at our 12 week scan and they offered it at exactly 20 weeks, to the day. I'm sure availability varies by area but it's probably worth calling to see if there's any chance you can change the day.

I called this morning and apparently they do the second scan between 21-23weeks. Strange, can’t remember what it was like with my first.

I'm so surprised! Not to be morbid, but a friend of mine had sad news at their 20 week scan, then had 3 weeks for various consultants to consider if they could do anything to help before the termination cut off point at 24 weeks. I wouldn't want to rush that process if it came to it (BUT at least it's super unlikely to happen). Sure you'll be fine though, it's just a couple more weeks of waiting!

SouthwestSis · 20/05/2024 18:13

Terminations can be done for medical reasons at later gestations, it's only for maternal choice that the cut off is 24 weeks, so there should be no rushed decision making in the case of sad news (though obviously the earlier the decision, the better in such sad situations)

piechipsgravy · 20/05/2024 18:33

@Daydreamer94 which hospital are you under? I have a friend under a hospital which is a major fetal medicine hub- they do scans later and explained that other, smaller hospitals do scans earlier so that they have time to refer on to the bigger hospitals for further testing if that makes sense.

Hi everyone, I hope you're all keeping well. I had my 16 week appointment today and got to hear my daughter's heartbeat, so that was lovely. I've got a 16 week detailed scan on Thursday, so I'm hoping once that is complete and all being well, I might be able to start to enjoy this pregnancy rather than worry.

muddlingthrou · 21/05/2024 12:47

Overslept this morning - slightly terrified at the fact that I had about 11 hours sleep last night! But I guess growing a human takes it out of you. Luckily I still managed to log into work on time, though still in my pyjamas... anyone else sleeping mammoth amounts?

meepthebeep · 21/05/2024 13:07

@muddlingthrou I’m still really tired too (at exactly 15 weeks today), I can’t wait for this second trimester energy to kick in!

We’ve had a date through for our 20-week scan when I’ll be 20+1, so it’s five weeks away, but I’m already so nervous. We’re going away next week which will hopefully take my mind off things a bit, and I’ve bought a lovely book called The Nature Seed for my holiday reading, which is all about raising children to appreciate and care for nature.

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

UnravellingTheWorld · 21/05/2024 16:23

I'm essentially useless after 6pm, but I'm having real difficulty staying asleep in the early morning! So my tiredness isn't really being treated. Still waiting for that 2nd trimester burst of energy the NHS website keeps mentioning 😐

My bump has popped, and I'm pretty sure I've been feeling some wiggles over the weekend! Baby is hereby dubbed Wiggles McWiggleson (husband is a mad fidgeter, but only in bed when I'm trying to sleep).

Hope everyone is doing well 😁

Kinsters · 21/05/2024 16:32

My indigestion is so bad. I'm taking an omperazole before dinner every night but it's 11:30pm here and I daren't lie down and go to sleep as I feel so sicky. I think I'll have to cut my bedtime snack of milk and chocolate.

I've definitely got that second trimester energy though (I'm 17 weeks today). Well I wouldn't say it's more energy than usual but the first trimester tiredness has definitely lifted and I feel normal.

Negangirlxx · 22/05/2024 07:07

I wish I’d get the second trimester energy!
I’m fed up of the exhaustion!

I can’t wait until I can finally feel bubs though. I’m in that weird stage where the symptoms are easing but I can’t feel baby yet, so I’m constantly worried about them.

Cazzy87 · 22/05/2024 11:04

had my screening scan yesterday all good, 20 wk scan booked for July when i'll be 20+4 so excited for that! still fairly tired but otherwise thankful to feel ok 😊

1yearplan · 22/05/2024 11:19

That's great @Cazzy87 I've got mine tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing my baby girl again, but nervous about it too.

LegoBear84 · 22/05/2024 12:11

Had my 12 week scan last week and just got my screening results through, all low which I was surprised at due to being 40 this time around, so definitely a relief. Now have a new due date of 25th November and already have 20 week scan date.

Hi Stibble, try this ☺️ fb.me/g/p_TZ2PBQeDtHUZLHom/8m07v1aA

Hi everyone! I have just had my 12w scan (turns out I'm 13 weeks, not 12+5 - does anyone else feel a bit strange to have gained a few days?) so finally feeling brave enough to post! I would love to join the Facebook group but the links have expired. Would anyone be able to send it again?

muddlingthrou · 23/05/2024 15:06

Anyone else sick of being pregnant already? I can't believe I'm not even halfway yet... happy not to be nauseous anymore (though I definitely have a wave every now and then and still struggle with brushing my back teeth) but my mood has definitely taken a downturn the last couple of days.

@muddlingthrou it's just not that fun but feels like we aren't allowed to say that. I have a 2 and 3 year old and I feel absolutely exhausted 24/7 sleeping crap average 3 wees a night, acne here with avengence , feel huge.
Cannot wait to have my boy in my arms but pregnancy can suck a fat one I never enjoy it

muddlingthrou · 23/05/2024 19:45

@mrssunshinexxx it's helpful to know I'm not alone! And to be clear, I'm pregnant after fertility treatment so I'm very grateful to be in this position. It's just the day to day grind that is getting me down. Hope you manage to get some good rest soon xx

UnravellingTheWorld · 23/05/2024 20:29

@muddlingthrou I hate being pregnant and don't understand women who say they enjoy it. I love being a mum, but being pregnant is a miserable time and it lasts so LONG.

Roll on November!

SouthwestSis · 23/05/2024 21:22

Also really not enjoying being pregnant over here!
My mood has been really affected as well as the relentless fatigue, I feel like I wake up every day with a hangover I don't deserve!
It's a long slog but day by day we are getting it done.
Hope to feel some movements soon and that might cheer me up.
