Hi all, not been on here for a while as I've been on holiday so been away from phone for a bit (which has been lovely)

Does anyone know if the private places will still scan you if bleeding a little? I had an early miscarriage around 5 weeks 4 days ish previously and am now 7 weeks 2 days but have just started bleeding a little. Obviously I'm a bit worried. We have a scan booked for 8 weeks but I'm wondering about seeing if we can swap to tomorrow to put my mind at ease. It's all such a worry!

HH96 · 30/05/2024 17:53

Yep, ovulated on 13th of May. got my BFP on 21st of May.

edit: wasn't trying but just know my body lol

coffeerocket · 30/05/2024 18:20

I guess I answered my own question around fluctuating symptoms - I've been very unwell and tired since this morning!

Does anyone else experience shivers/goosebumps and feeling really cold every now and then? It's been happening to me most evenings and I eventually warm up. I wonder if it's not eating well or being tired?

bootsroots · 30/05/2024 18:23

Hi everyone, I'd like to join please! Tentatively - I am pregnant with my second, due end of Jan. It's early and I don't want to jinx anything but I'm really excited (and daunted) to do this again.

I've had random bouts of feeling freezing too! Wouldn't have thought it was pregnancy related but maybe so!

@Ttcagainnow it's worth calling the EPU? They might scan you since you're bleeding. I had that my last pregnancy and they were great and reassured me.

bootsroots · 30/05/2024 18:58

Yes @WanzieMrsA ! I got the heated blanket out again and my husband thought I was nuts

Lemonyfire · 30/05/2024 19:11

@Ttcagainnow you'd definitely qualify to be seen at EPU but yes I've been scanner privately when spotting before

Blueotterwhale · 30/05/2024 19:24

@coffeerocket I have been having exactly the same! Keep feeling like I almost have a temp. It's the strangest thing and driving me nuts.

I am also so hungry but food turns my stomach so just getting by on a beige diet at the moment. I feel mostly okay during the day and evening hits and I'm exhausted and just want to lay in bed.

2nd pregnancy for me but last one was 5 years so don't remember a huge amount!

Sopshef · 30/05/2024 19:42

Hi - I would like to join too please! I found out a week ago but had been bleeding so couldn't accept it was permanent, but it turns out I have a haematoma. I cannot wait to stop feeling so stressed!

@Ttcagainnow I rang 111, went to urgent care on Sunday and was made a scan appt for the next working day (Tues) at the EPAU. They were super nice. Before then, I did some googling and some of the private clinics offer specific scans for people with bleeding so it's definitely possible. Sorry you're going through this too, I thought about it obsessively. I'm still bleeding but more reassured after seeing the tiny heart beat.

scrumdiddly123 · 30/05/2024 21:12

Going to tentatively join you. I got a positive at the weekend after AF didn’t arrive. A very unplanned, unexpected BFP which we still haven’t got our heads around 😳 would be baby number 5
we’re abroad at the moment so haven’t been able to do anything really just try and take it all in! Home tomorrow and I think I’ll buy another test just to make sure 🫢

skr97 · 30/05/2024 21:35

@coffeerocket im another one that has been feeling cold! Also mainly in the evenings

Summerrose24 · 30/05/2024 22:07

I'm absolutely freezing too! Like a coldness around my shoulders and middle and I just have to get in under the duvet at 8pm 😀 it's every evening and then I end up roasting a while later. I was thinking earlier it feels a bit like when you get up for a redeye flight and you're exhausted so keep shivering! So funny to think of everyone feeling the same way.

CadoAvo · 30/05/2024 11:30

First scan tonight at 7+4 and really hoping for some good news but I'm quite 50/50 at the moment. Spotting started on Sunday and has since turned to light bleeding. Either way, I just need to know 🤞🏼

How did it go for you love? My first scan is Tuesday which I think is 8 weeks not entirely sure xx

bootsroots · 31/05/2024 21:02

Hi ladies - do you have any tips or tactics for explaining (or hiding) not drinking from friends and colleagues?

I'm not telling anyone yet, but have a work event and a holiday coming up and I'm not sure how I'm going to avoid getting rumbled!

It was Covid for my last pregnancy so it just wasn't an issue.

Yes I could also do with some tips! I have a wedding tomorrow and there'll be lots of work people there too - am panicking a bit!

Is anyone else on blood thinners by the way? Clexane or Inhixa - sting like hell!!

WanzieMrsA · 31/05/2024 22:00

Regarding the drinking thing, you could drive? That's the best excuse for not drinking!

TerryRose · 31/05/2024 23:35

Bad nausea and food aversion but then super hungry suddenly , asked my other half for some Spaghetti and cheese, an hour later he brings me up a child's plate of spaghetti with about a tablespoon of cheese on it . He's not one for cooking but he tried but I'm famished 🙈🤣

That's a great suggestion but sadly I can't drive!! I think by the time I get a license I'd be telling people already. But if it were quick I'd definitely consider learning just for the excuse!

It was Covid for my last pregnancy so it just wasn't an issue.

I did several weddings, NYE, work Christmas things pregnant last time and would just order non-alcoholic ciders but would ask the bar person to empty it into a glass discreetly as I was pregnant but not telling people.

Never had an issue for any of the events and no one guessed!

92Char · 01/06/2024 08:25

A lot of people drink alcohol 0 drinks these days, it's not a big deal really. And as a non drinker myself, I always find it strange why people are so interested in why someone isn't drinking. But a good excuse is that you are on medication that you can't drink with.

bootsroots · 01/06/2024 08:34

Good idea @Firsttimetrier thank you! Will test that out. On holiday we'll be sitting around with wines at a villa etc., but maybe I can make myself the bar tender and go and fix myself hard looking soft drinks.

@92Char yes the problem is definitely of my own making. Everyone knows I love wine, and my friends and colleagues are nosey. Any time anyone doesn't drink people start to examine them for signs of pregnancy.

Will try this - getting them to decant my sneaky non-alcoholic drinks into a glass!!

I just know some of my colleagues can be rather eagle eyed and gossipy and I'd rather not have to field loads of questions from prying nosy parkers lol!

That's exactly it isn't it - if you're a woman of a certain age, feels like everyone is a bit 👀

MsSandyToes · 01/06/2024 09:20

I second the medication ruse. We are supposed to be taking pre-natals, folic acid and vitamin D. Decent them into a pill box and say you're on meds that don't mix with alcohol. :-)
