Hi, I'm pregnant and I think I'm due in January on the 11th but I don't know exactly if that's right. I'm 16 and obviously it wasn't planned but I think I'm going to keep the baby. I'm stressed about it so much but my mum says she can help me look after so hopefully it will be ok. I thought I would message here as I guess I want to connect with others who are pregnant but I'm freaked out by that as I know you guys will all be older and I'm 16 and also I'm completely clueless and know nothing about being pregnant

Lemonyfire · 20/05/2024 18:45

@LS888 I completely understand - join whenever you're ready.

@anteklego cautious congratulations as it sounds as there are a lot of emotions flying round right now. Hope you're doing okay. It will take a while to sink it, I imagine you'll have support from the specialist midwifery team too?

Thanks, yeah there are lots of emotions I guess and it's all scary but I think I am mostly fine except I'm so freaked out and also I feel sick all the time which sucks. Hope you are doing ok too. I have an appointment on Wednesday, I don't know exactly what will happen with that or how it works or if there is specialist midwife team but I guess I will find out more then

Oh bless you, you must be a bit freaked out. But sounds like your mum is supporting you which is great, as I’m sure that’ll make things a lot better. Don’t worry about people being older than you, your feelings are valid!

Lemonyfire · 20/05/2024 19:09

@anteklego agree with the below- age is irrelevant when it comes to your feelings about being pregnant. Your symptoms/ emotions/not knowing what's going to happen are all so valid as said below!

I only know about a specialist team as when I was 23 I had my son and was asked if I was under the 'young mums' team and was very flattered to find out it was for mums under 18! But if that's applicable to you you'll find all that out at your first appointment. So great to hear how supportive your mum is too x

I know we've spoken about it and I'm so sorry I can't remember the person who brought it up recently but I've been on Facebook groups for my other kids and found it a really nice way to stay in touch and a bit easier than a thread.

I've set up a group if anyone is interested. It's completely private and hidden so can only join with a link

fb.me/g/p_FJZp58ajWHP4x5sb/8njXhHVq

Hiya can u reshare the link plz.it doesn't seem to work for me

Doesn’t work for me either :(

Lemonyfire · 20/05/2024 21:31

Link reshared!

fb.me/g/p_FJZp58ajWHP4x5sb/qCyXioEQ

I seem to remember this happening when someone set one up for my previous pregnancy. Once it's been clicked on a certain amount of times you need a new one because it's private !
One person has joined so it did work at some point 😂
Just shout when it needs to be regenerated

Elephxnt · 20/05/2024 22:05

The Facebook group is a great idea, I’m another that will deffo join following a positive scan 🤞🏼

Optimistic66 · 20/05/2024 22:10

27th Jan!

Cycle 20 of TTC - hope this is sticky baby! Tested today at 13/14dpo (not quite sure!)

Sproutofthisworld · 20/05/2024 22:30

@Lemonyfire hello, I clicked link and just takes me to Facebook home page, can you share again? I think a Facebook page is a great idea and easier to follow than a WhatsApp group.

I'm not sure why it's working for some people and not others! So frustrating. As it's a group I assume you have to be currently signed in to Facebook? It won't let me 'generate a new link' until the original one has been filled by 16 people but I've copied it back here so give it another go :)

AsanteSanaSquashBanana · 21/05/2024 06:47

Hey guys, I've just found out I'm pregnant with my 2nd. Estimated due date (all being well) is 24th Jan. My little girl took a year to conceive, so we stopped using contraception in April thinking we would be trying for a while and bam! Pregnant straight away!!!

@Lemonyfire I'd love to join the Facebook group but the link isn't working for me either

I'm sorry I'm not sure why it's not working for some people. It can't be a problem with the group as some people have joined with the link so it's very odd!

Violet1988 · 21/05/2024 07:23

Hi, I have read the thread from the start but have put of joining so far as feel like anything could jinx things which I know is silly. I haven't even booked in yet for the same reason.
I'm 6+1 today and due baby number 4 on January 13th. I found out at 4+2 and did another test yesterday at 6 weeks which was much stronger than the four week one. Not much in the way of symptoms yet, a bit tired in the afternoons and bloating mainly. My other children are 7, 5 and 2.

Violet1988 · 21/05/2024 07:27

@anteklego the specialist team someone mentioned is called Family Nurse Partnership. They support you through pregnancy and up until your child is two. They are really good, I'm a school nurse so work in a similar area to them and they give us lots of our training etc. https://fnp.nhs.uk/about-us/what-is-fnp/

Bless you, I know it must be so daunting but it sounds like you have great support around you with your mum. I am 24 and my pregnancy was not planned either, I know this is still quite a bit older than you but I left education only 3 years ago and definitely sometimes feel like I am not ready/don't know enough about being a mum. But I think the truth is that most first-time mums don't know anything about being pregnant or parenting, it is something that we will all learn. Hopefully your midwife will give you lots of advice and support around pregnancy, as there are lots of things that I had no idea about until speaking to her. Sending you lots of hugs, and there are lots of amazing ladies on here who have babies already who I am sure can offer you some great advice and support💓

it just takes me to fb homepage. tried via phone and laptop both. think i'll wait and try again when a new link is generated as you said it cant be generated until few more ppl signup.
thanks for trying though

Lemonyfire · 21/05/2024 10:52

I've had someone private message me their name and I've added them and can add people to group that way! If anyone would like me to. Dont be offended if I unfriend after- I just have a very limited profile!

DaringlyDizzy · 21/05/2024 12:04

@anteklego
Welcome aboard! I am so pleased to hear Mum is being supportive.
It is a scary time and can be daunting - but if its what you want that its the most amazing thing. You have all of us to talk to on here and there is so much support as well. Theres plenty of time to prepare and think through the big decisions. Babies are hard work, yes, but caring for them is simple. Bucket loads of love, milk and bum changes and you are well on your way.

I had my EPU appt today. Depending on HCG levels theyll either retest on Thursday or bring my scan back from 7/06 to next week. The nurse is going to ask doc about pregesterone and get back to me when she calls with results

MooMaeMoo · 21/05/2024 13:12

Tentatively joining - due 25th Jan with our second child if it sticks. Had a Facebook group with my first that started on a thread like this one so I'm hunting around for due date buddies once again! If anyone has any tips on surviving the first trimester with a toddler I'd be very grateful - I barely survived the first time around with nothing but free time to lay face down in bed for months.

Lemonyfire · 21/05/2024 13:50

@MooMaeMoo congratulations!!
We have a Facebook group but it's very hit and miss whether people can join via the link ( see below) so if you'd like to be added just private message me and we can work it by me sending it a different way!

SunflowerDream · 21/05/2024 14:04

Is anybody else so exhausted that they literally can't make it through the day without needing/wanting a nap or a lie down? I work hybrid so luckily 2 out of 5 days I am at home and can have a rest but I cannot seem to make it from 9-5 in the office anymore without hitting a complete wall around 2/3pm. My manager does know about my pregnancy, but obviously most people in the office aren't aware so I am kind of having to pretend everything is okay when I am really struggling to function!!

Ttcagainnow · 21/05/2024 15:22

Can we only join via a link or can the name of the group not be said and we join that way? I am a bit late to this as I haven't checked here in a fee days. I probably won't join til I have my private scan in 2 weeks too due to previous MC.

belleissmart · 21/05/2024 15:51

@SunflowerDream I was so so so tired last week. But I've just turned six weeks and now I'm not at all. I don't really have any symptoms at the moment, it's all v odd! Hope you feel less knackered soon
