Does anyone know, is there generally flexibility with scan dates etc...? I know we are entitled to time off but I'm mix of employed and self employed and have a weekday off each week so ideally I'd have it on a day off so I don't have to lose money.

I was able to reorganise scans in my previous pregnancy, so you should be able to. They generally had to be within the same week though.

I usually found scans ran on time, so I’d only be there for about 30mins. It was the usual midwife appointments which always overran! Sometimes they’d be over an hour late.

@SunflowerDream all was ok thank you. Saw the heartbeat and measuring on track.

I am so pleased all was okay at your scan - I hope it has been some reassurance for you, sending love x

Were you at least referred to an antenatal unit? My GP did that, then when I told them the issues I’ve been having the then implored me to go to an EPU/A&E.

@Lemonyfire That’s great to know and congratulations! I don’t think I am under this hospital’s care yet, I just know they are overseeing this matter.

My experiences here are good so I was planning to self-refer myself to this hospital. Going off what you say, would I have to wait until at least 6 weeks to refer myself? Or can I refer myself now and wait to be accepted later on?

@reimah Hello Reima and congratulations. I’m sorry you’ve experienced this, it must’ve been awfully scary. Did you go to A&E, if not, it may be better to go than to wait for the scan? I hope all is well.

I wasn't, unfortunately, not. But since then the bleeding has completely disappeared so I'm keeping calm and want to think it was some implantation bleeding. I keep having some mild cramping though, however it does seem to be normal? I will definitely try to arrange an early scan for peace of mind.

Is there a WhatsApp group for January 2025 babies :)

CatLady1994 · 16/05/2024 13:00

Hey everyone, would love to join you all. I found out I am pregnant with my second a couple of days ago, due date looking to be around 26th Jan 😊

DS is 18 months old currently and will be close to 27 months old when new baby arrives! Would be great to join the WhatsApp or Facebook group if there is one?

Hi can anyone help I’m probably overthinking or either being to impatient! I took a test this morning as my period is due today but hasn’t yet come, I thought I seen a slight positive line on the first test but now I’m not sure I’ve gone out and brought another 2 different brands which clearly say negative, what are peoples thoughts? Thank you in advance! x

Hi @acX I'm not an expert but from my time on MN I know people say that the line is normally strong if period is due that day. However, a lot can play with this, for example, you may have ovulate later. Are your cycles regular ? Sorry not to give a definitive answer. There's a handy thread on conception that's called something like line eye enthusiasts, there are some experts in there! Worth a try. Good luck and fingers crossed for a positive.

Unfortunately, I can’t see anything I’m so sorry. I would expect the line to be really dark if you are due today. This is my line (bottom one) on the day my period was due.

Lemonyfire · 15/05/2024 11:35

@Mariigolds it depends on your areas criteria, in my area you can refer yourself the second you're pregnant as you'll just be sent appointments for 8 and 12 weeks anyway, but personally I wait until 6 weeks. I've now been referred to EPU due to previous losses and have a scan booked for 5th June when I'll be 7.5 weeks, but stressed as I'm always bleeding before this ( with and without successful pregnancies) so was hoping to be started on progesterone as per advice. I've asked a Dr there to call me. So fingers crossed

Thank you so much @Lemonyfire for all the information. Going off what you’ve explained, I hope they get you started on some progesterone ASAP. The stress is completely understandable; best we can do is to focus on something else, but it’s so hard to as pregnancy is so emotional! In any case, fingers crossed for you and your little one!

@SunflowerDream My hCG is levels are good and the most I’ve had is fatigue, bloating, cramping. It’s worth saying many people don’t experience many, if any symptoms at this stage - there’s still around 8 months to go. So as long as your hormone levels are good and are appropriately rising, the lack of symptoms shouldn’t be an issue.

@Sarahclairee@CatLady1994 Hello and congratulations to both! Yes there was a WhatsApp group chat, but unfortunately it’s now closed/full. I joined late, and was disappointed to see that they’ve decided to cap the group to 50 people. Many people who weren’t active enough got kicked. I believe the admins fairly explained that the cap was made to allow for more personal relationships to be built. They also explained that very private information was being shared, so for safeguarding, they removed people who weren’t participating enough.

However, they suggested those of us remaining could create another WhatsApp group chat. Someone else suggested a Facebook group. I am interested in doing this as it uncomfortable sharing so much on such a public space. This would be next week Wednesday, though.

If I were to do this, would anyone be interested in being a co-admin(s)? The other group have fair safeguarding concerns, though I don’t wish to cap the group, it would be hard manage this alone, without a cap. Also would a Facebook group be better?

Lemonyfire · 16/05/2024 14:49

@Mariigolds happy to help with a Facebook :) and thanks for your kind words.

Out of interest how long do people test for? Can't remember what I've done previously. My last pregnancy I absolutely spiralled and took so many it was obscene but I felt the whole time that something was wrong. This time I'm determined not to. So I've done cheapies and then when I got a line bought a 'proper' test to confirm but have decided not to do the cb week indicators as when they went up it felt good but I don't really NEED to do that and will worry I'll start getting obsessed again. I think once I get past the point where people stop testing in general I'll stop feeling the need to buy one 😂

Firsttimetrier · 16/05/2024 15:12

@Lemonyfire now I’ve got the 3+ weeks, I’m trying not to test again but because I’m symptomless atm, I’m struggling to believe it’s going in the right direction so want to do another test to ensure that the line is still there…

Anxiety is threw the roof tbh!

Troptolate · 16/05/2024 15:31

@Lemonyfire
Hiya, just having a read through the thread and wondering how you got on with requesting the progesterone?
i’m 7weeks tomorrow and started taking progesterone from week 5+3.
I had a MC in 2019, missed MC May 2023 following IVF.
then conceived naturally Feb 2024 which resulted in another MC at 6 weeks.
I have never got over the 6-7 weeks mark before i start bleeding (except from my DD born in 2017)
EPU this time round is scanning me regularly but said progesterone will be given if heartbeat is seen.
if i’d waited until then I possibly would have started bleeding again so I contacted my IVF clinic from last year and they agreed to give me it privately. Costly but would rather know i’ve done everything I can to help.
It’s like banging ur head against a brick wall with the NHS
Just writing it here incase that’s an option for you.

Sarahclairee · 16/05/2024 16:10

@Mariigolds WhatsApp would be perfect for me! I’d be able to keep up to date better!

DaringlyDizzy · 16/05/2024 16:19

@Mariigolds I would happily co-admin whatsapp x

@Lemonyfire I was the same last pregnancy but a bit better this one. I have struggled as line progression was awful last time and I had an ectopic so its made me want to test constantly. I have been V V strict (god knows how) and have done a FRER and a cheapie yday and today. Todays was DEFO lighter with FMU so I feel like crap. Doing a CB digital tomorrow

Lemonyfire · 16/05/2024 16:40

@Firsttimetrier
My anxiety is due to poor line progression last time, but I was such a ball of anxiety the last time, that when it did end badly I'd been expecting it the whole time and it had made everything so much harder, so this time I've said no digital as it won't change the outcome for me

@Troptolate
I did wonder about this, but my situations a little different and haven't been seen privately before. I had my first child in 2012, then second was a mc at 6 weeks In 2014 then had my second child In 2015 then started trying for a third in 2022 and had a miscarriage in Jan this year at 8.5 weeks but didn't develop past 6ish.
The EPU said they won't provide progesterone until I've had a scan, so they booked me at 7.5 weeks, I cried down the phone and they've moved it to 6.5

@DaringlyDizzy don't let this worry you. Lined are not consistent/ valid enough to base anything of, you know this, and if it's going to cause more anxiety then can you step away from the tests?

acX · 16/05/2024 17:45

Thank you so much, they seem to be regular yes always due around the same time maybe sometimes a couple days early, I had a bit of spotting 10 days ago it was one wipe and it was gone but nothing since, been trying for 9 months so I thought it was time! Mehhh! Maybe next month x

Hello!! Utterly utterly shocked to be joining you all 🫶🏻. I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday about (what I thought) was post cystitis issues and she did a pregnancy test and it was negative. But she did tell me to do a Clear Blue one a few days later if my period was still late and well - two tests now show I AM pregnant. Bonkers really. Found out this evening and have spent it mostly crying from shock, though I am excited.

Not sure why I'm so shocked as I'm 32, and we were loosely 'trying' but given I only got my coil out in Feb I feel so so so shocked it happened so soon. Anyway going to read through this thread and get my head around it - very happy for you all.

I feel like it's always a shock! I was totally shocked even though trying 🤣 let yourself have those feelings though and time to process it 🥰

It's mad isn't it 😂. After some pizza and a good night sleep I feel slightly better. It makes me realise how much in my head I'd been convinced I would be become pregnant at the 'right' time and not just a random time but that is not how life works!! Think I'll just try and chill out about it for a week or so and then get into planning mode.

Sarah268 · 17/05/2024 06:42

Hello, another one to cautiously join you! I think I am 4+2 so very very early. Had an early MC at 6+5 in March so the next few weeks I am going to be so so anxious!

Due 22nd Jan 🤞

I had a clear blue 2-3 today though which was nice, never got one of those last time.

As someone said earlier, when do people decide to stop testing?! I’ve tested everyday for 6 days now 😅 I know I need to chill with the tests but ironically doing a test each day DOES make me chill!

Havent had a chance to catch up on all the messages yet but crossing my fingers for you all!

Congratulations! I stopped testing frequently at 5 weeks, but had another one at a couple of days ago to reassure me. (I am 6 week 1 day atm) I will probably do another one around 7 weeks.

Congratulations and sorry for your loss! I too had an EM earlier this year. It was hard!

So this time I did 3 tests on the day I found out (2 cheapies and a proper one) then I did one more at the weekend but since then nothing. I am around 5 weeks 3/4 days now. Hoping to not do another test now as it isn't going to change anything. I'm not bleeding or anything yet so I'm trying to calm myself and say, today I am pregnant. I was tempted to get the clearblue and see if it now says 3+ weeks (my first one said 2-3 weeks) but I figured I don't know how accurate it is and if I still says 2-3 weeks then I'll feel even more anxious.

I'm going to book an early scan around 7 weeks 5 days I hope. We're away for a week before that so it seems the perfect time. Just got to hope I'm still pregnant 🙏

Newhere1993 · 17/05/2024 08:24

I stopped testing on 6 weeks partially because I went away on holiday and partially because the nausea and sickness has now set in
