Does anyone find taking the Pregnacare vitamins makes you feel a bit sicker? 😂 they have not helped my tummy settle

Not good news from my scan unfortunately. I should be 6+3 today based on LMP. They could see a yolk sac but nothing in it, and they’d expect to see something in there at 6 weeks.

They said it looks more like 5 weeks which means it’s likely that it’s not a healthy pregnancy, but to come back for another scan in a week to confirm there’s been no development. They gave us leaflets about miscarriage and everything 😔

The wait is agonising. On the one hand I’m fairly certain this is a missed miscarriage based on the scan, what they said, and their generally demeanour. On the other hand that tiny glimmer of hope is just awful. I ovulated in CD17 but just don’t think that’s enough to compensate for being a full week behind.

We’re both feeling broken hearted 💔

Edited

I got a scan at 6w4 and they saw the sac, the yolk and the tiniest splodge which she couldn't even say was a fetal pole. It measured 0.14mm. Apparently I looked like 5 weeks along. She said this happens a lot and to come back in 2 weeks.

I couldn't wait that long and got one a week later. So at 7w4 it had grown to 0.5mm (Tripled in size) and there was a heartbeat. I'm measuring behind still at 6 ish weeks.

I'm hoping on Thursday that there'll be even more progress - growth and a faster heartbeat. From what I've read - as long as there's growth and progress in the right direction there's hope!

I think some beans just take a bit longer to get going. I've read a lot of stories where this happens too. I hope everything will be ok for you xx

SouthwestSis · 09/04/2024 23:32

@Meatballsandpasta can definitely recommend movicol, really helped in my first pregnancy and you can buy it over the counter so no waiting for an appointment.
It's really worth getting on top of constipation early as there is only gonna be more pressure on your bowels with that growing uterus and it can lead to haemorrhoids and put you at increased risk of prolapse.
Which is a great reminder for me to do my pelvic floor exercises whilst I remember!

Those are almost exactly the same dates as me, although she couldn’t see anything at all in the g-sac other than the yolk sac. I’m so glad you’ve had some progress with yours 💜

I think I’d have more hope if they’d left it more open-ended but both the sonographer and the nurse just really hammered home that this is likely to be a miscarriage. The sonographer said ‘probably not a healthy pregnancy’ so many times.

I wish I’d asked more questions but felt in shock at the time. She mentioned a bruise (assuming hematoma) on the sac. I thought these are usually harmless but her reaction didn’t give harmless. It seemed to be in a place she wouldn’t expect to see one.

So now I don’t know if it’s likely not viable due to dating behind (which could be explained as I did ovulate a bit later), or because of this bruise / the scan just generally didn’t look good. I don’t know why they’d be so emphatically pessimistic if they thought there was even a slim chance everything would be okay 😔

How did you get on in the end @Sparksi ? Last night was the first time I was actually sick this pregnancy, but I felt better afterwards, at least!

muddlingthrou · 10/04/2024 07:38

@Sparksi - I take my pregnacare vitamins last thing at night along with my last anti sickness pill for this reason! Otherwise the fishy burps from the omega pill turn my stomach 🤢

sabretoothtigger · 10/04/2024 08:16

Hi. Very tentatively joining as like many, given previous experiences I'll struggle to believe it until my 12 week scan, but it's a miracle I'm even pregnant (and naturally) so very cautiously yay!

I'm in my early 40s and 6+3 but pretty sure I ovulated early, so right on the cusp of Nov/ Dec.

@Meatballsandpasta fibre is obviously great, but also soluble fibre (oats), and things like chia seeds help keep things moving and more comfortable (think lubrication) - and of course staying hydrated. Hope you find what works for you.

@Sparksi oh goodness yes! Anything with folic acid makes me so poorly with stomach pain, passing out, vomiting. I have to take them after eating. It helps me so much. Are you snacking with the pregnacare?

Fingers crossed for you @purplecolouroffunk that they've just handled things badly, and insensitivity over-prepared you for the worst case.

Hope we all get to relax and enjoy this!

I wasn’t sick! I thought I would be. I’m sorry you were 🙁

piechipsgravy · 10/04/2024 08:38

@sabretoothtigger welcome and congrats!

I feel way less pregnant today- so bizarre! My symptoms haven't necessarily gone (still some nausea etc) but my stomach is much less bloated and I just feel a bit more normal/like myself?? Hoping it's a sign that placenta is starting to take over a bit- I'm 10 weeks today.

y0rkier0se · 10/04/2024 08:55

@Sparksi I couldn’t take the pregnacare vitamins after 6 weeks. I switched to the Healthy Start ones they give you at your booking appointment, they’re so much smaller. They’re just vit c, vit d & folic acid though.

Riverstardust · 10/04/2024 09:23

@Sparksi pretty sure pregnacare are the reason I was so sick yesterday. Didn't take it last night and feel so much better today. Going to look into something else as I just cannot have more days like yesterday!
Hope you're feeling better!

1yearplan · 10/04/2024 10:17

I've heard lots of people say they struggle with pregnacare. I think I must have a stomach of steal 😂 I think I'm in the minority that doesn't get nauseous from taking it.

Has anybody suffered with melasma yet? 'The mask of pregnancy' I seem to be getting it already. I wasn't sure if it's because I'm taking progesterone too or if it's the pregnancy.

Riverstardust · 10/04/2024 10:30

Learnt something new today. You can be sick through your nose. Was not a pleasant experience.

piechipsgravy · 10/04/2024 11:01

How are you doing @Cloclomarie ?

UnravellingTheWorld · 10/04/2024 11:17

Anyone suffering with constipation, make sure the first thing you do in the morning is drink an entire glass of water. It doesn't sound like much but it honestly does help

Foods that helped me last pregnancy were butternut squash soup (bought is fine but it's easy to make - b'nut squash, carrots, sweet potato, and veg stock; blended together), and porridge mixed with an Actimel pot. Super quick to make, and delicious!

Oh no! I've done that before and it was absolutely horrendous! Hope you don't have to go through that again

Cazzy87 · 10/04/2024 11:19

Just introducing myself, i am 7 weeks yesterday and due end of November :) I am 36 so feeling a bit nervous about my appt at Dr due to my age but hope all will be fine and hope all you ladies are doing ok! x

Riverstardust · 10/04/2024 11:21

@UnravellingTheWorld it was horrendous, really hope that doesn't happen again. 😂

@Cazzy87 same as me, 7 weeks yesterday! Think we've been on a chat before as recognise your tag!

strawberrycake12 · 10/04/2024 11:34

Dragged my smoothie maker out from the back of the cupboard and dusted it off today 😂 Anyone have and good smoothie combinations? I'll add them to my shopping list for this week ☺️

SouthwestSis · 10/04/2024 11:38

Welcome @Cazzy87 , I'm 8+2 and will be 36 by the time this one comes, will this be your first baby?

@strawberrycake12 I am loving a combo of strawberries/blueberries/cherries and if you use frozen fruit then it makes the smoothie nice and thick. I'm adding Greek yoghurt for protein but know I probably don't have long before the gestational diabetes develops and I can no longer have fruit smoothies :(

Westy22 · 10/04/2024 11:39

Ah don't be nervous @Cazzy87 I'm 37, had my booking appointment yesterday and my age wasn't mentioned lol even though I'm very aware they class me as old. 10 weeks today 💕

Cazzy87 · 10/04/2024 11:40

yes @Riverstardust think we were on the same conception chat! nice to see you again!
no @SouthwestSis i already have a 10 year old nearly so 2nd baby, but 1st with new partner of 4 years! i will be 37 by time baby is here :)
thanks @Westy22 i am overweight so hope this doesn't cause any problems either but it didn't with my DD, i know i will have to have the GTT test but i had this also with my first and it was ok

waryandbored · 10/04/2024 11:53

My nausea has ramped up to all day nausea plus regular vomiting! I’m being sick at least 3x a day despite taking my anti sickness tablets regularly. I can only take them 3x a day so trying to space them out regularly but they definitely wear off before I can have the next dose. I’m a teacher and back to work on Monday after the Easter hols. Really don’t know how I can go back like this 😔

Hi 👋 another newbie here.
Expecting my third baby, I'm 11 weeks today going my LMP but I think I'm less. My app says due date 30 Oct but I'd put my life on it this will be a Nov baby as I was 12 and 13 days overdue with my daughters. Booking apt and scan are all the one apt for me which is not for another 2 weeks so still quite anxious.
I'll also be 36 when the baby is born.
Feeling like crap atm and just can't wait to move into 2nd trimester and feel like myself again.
Nice to virtually meet you all and look forward to the chats here and on Facebook. Will join the group after my scan.
