@PennySong yes could be that. Or could be ligaments stretching. All good signs I'm sure! Xx

Jellybelly888 · 09/04/2024 07:32

Thank you for your kind words. Best of luck for your babies xx

piechipsgravy · 09/04/2024 08:06

@1yearplan so sorry you've had this added stress. I agree with @Starrysky812 that babies grow and are born in some horrendous circumstances so make sure you focus on yourself and looking after you- your body will look after your baby.

I've got my first scan tomorrow morning, the nerves are really setting in now. I'll be 7+4. I've had lots of symptoms (mostly extreme fatigue, and a constant travel-sick feeling without actually being sick) but the queasiness has definitely ramped up over the last couple of days, so I'm hoping that's a good sign. We've crossed a lot of fertility hurdles to get this far, but I feel powerless at each new hurdle we get to. Please send good luck our way!

Good luck!!

I have my first scan too in a couple of hours and I’m so nervous. I keep thinking the worst to try and keep my expectations low.

Let us know how you get on 💜

taytay2020 · 09/04/2024 09:16

Thanks everyone! My scan was absolutely fine. Measuring 12.9mm (so bang on the 7+4 we were expecting), with a heartbeat of 156 (apparently well within the normal range). I'm so relieved! But I'll also keep worrying every step of the way 😀 Good luck to everyone with their scans coming up! 🤞🤞🤞

Riverstardust · 09/04/2024 09:26

I swear every time I get to a weekly milestone I get new symptoms. 7 weeks today and just been sick for 5 minutes continuously. Feel less nauseated now though so slight bonus I guess.

Should I risk eating something? Or is that just not going to stay down. How do I get rid of the vomit taste in my throat as can't brush teeth for 30 mins!?

I usually have such a strong stomach when it comes to being sick, can literally count how many times in my life I have been. So completely out of my depth!

1yearplan · 09/04/2024 09:31

Being sick is the worst @Riverstardust. You poor thing.
Thankfully I've never had sickness with any of my pregnancies.
Thanks for your kind words @waryandbored and @piechipsgravy.
I've been finding comfort in eating fishfingers this morning. I've had 4 already, but could quite easily finish the box. That's okay isn't it?!? 😂😂😂

muddlingthrou · 09/04/2024 09:31

@Riverstardust - I would try eating something bland like toast or a banana. This is horrible but something that isn't too awful to throw up. An empty stomach will likely make you feel worse as you'll get dehydrated and your blood sugar will drop and you may end up with a headache.

Unfortunately I have far too much experience with this - I have an iron stomach when non-pregnant, and horrific sickness when I am. It will al be worth it though!

piechipsgravy · 09/04/2024 09:42

@1yearplan fish fingers are practically a health food- think of all the omega 3!

Thank you. Glad to hear as horrible as it is for you, that I'm not alone in being sick in pregnancy.

I had plain toast for breakfast as was feeling nauseous. But obviously that didn't stay down. Will try again now as hopefully that was just inevitable and now it'll work!

Riverstardust · 09/04/2024 09:43

@1yearplan it was horrible.
Had veggie fish fingers for tea last night and they so good so I can see the appeal! Baby clearly wants them plus a pretty good thing to crave!!

taytay2020 · 09/04/2024 10:01

@riverstardust oh no, you poor thing! Again, not puked myself (yet) but I find that frequently eating something small usually helps me keep the nausea at bay. A friend of mine swears by dry crackers. DH has been fetching me one from the kitchen every morning before I get out of bed.
I also have acupressure wristbands which I THINK are working. They're incredibly tight (possibly child size? thanks amazon) and leave dents in my wrists if I wear them all day, but I think it takes the edge off.

piechipsgravy · 09/04/2024 10:11

@Riverstardust i have found the only times I end up retching/vomiting is when I don't eat soon after waking up. I keep crackers and biscuits next to my bed and force them down as soon as I feel the nausea start. I woke up at 5.30 this morning to pee and soon as I got back into bed felt it start to rise so had to eat 2 crackers then. Not fun but better than the alternative!

CapricaSeven · 09/04/2024 10:21

Is anyone else on sickness meds? I got prescribed prochlorperazine as I can't keep anything down. Started taking them yesterday and not seeing any improvement. Need to phone GP tomorrow if no change. Tried all the usual bland food, ginger, sipping liquids but open to other options!

Riverstardust · 09/04/2024 10:34

@taytay2020 @piechipsgravy thanks guys, think I'll have to introduce a snack before I get up. Crackers might be a shout, completely off sweet things currently. Still have all my Easter egg left, which is unheard off.

What crackers are you finding working? Like ritz or good old fashioned cream crackers?

Riverstardust · 09/04/2024 10:35

DH is also away on a work trip so having to deal with it all solo is so hard. He'd have to make food and bring me snacks otherwise I just do not have the appetite. Trying to force myself. Plus when I was sick, all I wanted was for him to give me some comfort.

piechipsgravy · 09/04/2024 10:43

@Riverstardust it's horrible going through it alone. I have cream crackers and ritz and mix it up to be honest!

Riverstardust · 09/04/2024 10:46

@piechipsgravy for sure.
Thank you, I'll get some of those and see which ones work! Ritz might be better for me as I've found salty crisps work nicely!

taytay2020 · 09/04/2024 11:15

@riverstardust I've got the high fibre version of cream crackers. I don't need constipation on top of bloating 😀 They're very slightly salty on one side too. I usually have them with a bit of margarine and occasionally some cheese for protein, but dry is fine too.

Yesterday I decided that chocolate chip muffins might be good, but unfortunately cake was pretty much the only food group we didn't have in the house! So we got some this morning before my scan, as I hadn't eaten much and an empty stomach is a nauseous stomach. It did the trick!

I'm learning there's a very fine line between too much food and too little. I think I'll be grazing very slowly all day...

@Riverstardust I agree with this comment above! Having stuff as soon as I wake up (and between meals throughout the day) seems to have totally put my nausea at bay, although I’m now worrying I’m not pregnant anymore because I don’t feel sick. Literally can’t win!

Riverstardust · 09/04/2024 11:42

@taytay2020 that's a good point, I'll grab the high fibre ones too! Thank you! ☺️

@Daisychain27 Already snacking far too much. Luckily come afternoon, the nausea is gone. (Well it has been, we'll see if todays any different)

taytay2020 · 09/04/2024 12:08

@purplecolouroffunk How did your scan go? I hope all is well!

Alwaystalkingaboutpoo · 09/04/2024 14:26

Hello, I’d love the link for the Facebook group please. I’m currently 7 weeks with my second. Thanks so much x

Not good news from my scan unfortunately. I should be 6+3 today based on LMP. They could see a yolk sac but nothing in it, and they’d expect to see something in there at 6 weeks.

They said it looks more like 5 weeks which means it’s likely that it’s not a healthy pregnancy, but to come back for another scan in a week to confirm there’s been no development. They gave us leaflets about miscarriage and everything 😔

The wait is agonising. On the one hand I’m fairly certain this is a missed miscarriage based on the scan, what they said, and their generally demeanour. On the other hand that tiny glimmer of hope is just awful. I ovulated in CD17 but just don’t think that’s enough to compensate for being a full week behind.

We’re both feeling broken hearted 💔
