Hi everyone and welcome to thread 3.
Please ask if you’d like the link to the private Facebook group. It expires after a couple of days so I won’t add it to this post.
If you’re new to the thread, we are a friendly and supportive bunch all in it together and hoping to welcome our new additions in November 2024!

Has anyone had any luck with taking nausea tablets only when needed? I have a prescription but I don't feel I need to take them daily as some days I'm fine. However, if I were to take them on days when it's bad, will it work? Or do I need to have a build up?

Aside from today's surprise nasal expulsion, I've just been taking the cyclizine as needed and that's been fine for me. This morning was a bizarre one - no nausea, just sat up suddenly and wham. So aside from that... for me just taking it as needed has worked fine!

Riverstardust · 27/04/2024 16:03

@Meatballsandpasta ok perfect, thank you. I think I will only take it when I'm actually sick as I'm nauseous most days which is manageable. 🤔

The nasal expulsion is horrific and for me it seems to be every time now! I'm 9+4 so hoping it starts to ease off soon. Week 9's the worst right??? 😂🙏🏻🙏🏻

Everythingzrosie · 27/04/2024 16:18

@sabretoothtigger Thank you for the warm welcome.
Im feeling nauseous 24/7, I’m eating like a horse, my boobs are amazing and my bump is already huge…bloat and my body saying ‘yep pregnant, here’s your bump’ 😂
Im 46 so feeling a bit nervous. All the risks etc. I’m on cyclogest, fragmin, and aspirin at 12 weeks.
Having a scan (private) on Thursday when I’m 10 weeks. Last had a scan at 6+2 and saw the heart beat.

My friend who has a 3 month old & I went to a pre-loved baby sale in York today. I picked up a few little outfits & a baby sling (see pic - they only wanted £2 for the lot! I gave them £5 and I’m absolutely thrilled with my bargain😂) It feels very real now we’ve had the 12 week scan! 13 weeks tomorrow ☺️

@Everythingzrosie welcome and congrats!

@y0rkier0se that is a great haul! I'm planning on taking a few day trips to the affluent SW London area I used to live in to raid all their charity shops...

@Meatballsandpasta that sounds horrendous! I hit a new low today by throwing up in a multi story carpark. Luckily I was still in my car but it was mortifying having to walk to the bin with my bag of sick...

Meatballsandpasta · 27/04/2024 17:53

People who know if their baby's a boy/girl already... how? Is this through a private NIPT or through the NHS scan or something else?

Meatballsandpasta · 27/04/2024 17:56

@piechipsgravy it was horrific. I think I leaned over too much and just out it came 😬 my sympathies for the car park incident. So far I've only vomited at home but considering I've barely left the house lately it's not much of an achievement!

@Riverstardust week 9 was definitely my last bad week tbh! Things are not easy but are definitely easier than then. I'm hoping yours settles down soon too.

Hello everyone!
I had my dating scan a couple of days ago at 13 weeks and the sonographer said his “guess” on gender is that it’s a boy - I wish I’d asked how certain he was but was caught up in the moment! Anyone else had their sonographer manage to know gender this early in any other pregnancies?!
I would love a boy as we have a little girl now and always wanted one of each. I didn’t ask for his guess either.. he had a good look then asked if I’d like to know his guess.

hope everyone’s journeys are going well!!

Interesting! I'd be concerned that they got it wrong that early. I feel the same way about the sneak peeks etc. but maybe that's just me.

I've seen posts (not this thread, I don't think) where some women take some kind of sneak peek blood test as early as 6 weeks! They are around £100. 6 weeks though? Surely not accurate?

I had the NIPT test, the baby's DNA is used to confirm the sex of the baby. I know testing of any kind is such a personal decision, so it's not for everyone.
It can also be a bit controversial too. I wasn't prepared to wait until the 12 week scan for some of the testing.

1yearplan · 27/04/2024 19:55

My post sounded much blunter than I intended it to be 🤦‍♀️ I hope I've not upset anyone x

mrssunshinexxx · 27/04/2024 22:00

@ECH11 I had mine last week at 13+6 and was told definite boy. Plus side is you can pay for early gender scans from 14 weeks so I was far enough long to see the genitals clearly however I was told at my dating scan with my last baby that it I was a boy.. I thought at the time it looked like a girl .. she was a girl. I wasn't convinced last week it was a penis it looked more like swollen vagina BUT the baby it 8cm from top to bottom so tiny so the penis is going to be very small and stick out probably same amount as the Scrotum. So I don't feel convinced even tho we have told everyone it's a boy I'll be on tenterhooks at next scan to double check. We will be thrilled either way I just want to feel definite

piechipsgravy · 28/04/2024 09:53

How's everyone doing today? Happy Sunday!

Welshcake15 · 28/04/2024 10:07

Off to see my in laws for the day, which we're all looking forward to! Just over a week now until my dating scan, and I can't wait to see bub! I suspect I've recently had slapped cheek (blood test this week to check), so I'm hoping everything is OK. Also looking forward to not hiding my rather obvious bump and actively wearing unflattering clothes in an effort to make it look like I've just put on a bit of weight! 😂

piechipsgravy · 28/04/2024 10:23

@Welshcake15 enjoy! Have you told your in laws or are you waiting until after your scan? It's my 12 week scan tomorrow 😬 I was doing fine but the scanxiety has fully hit now! I'm jealous you have a visible bump- I have nothing gong on and it makes me wonder if there's anything in there..

Riverstardust · 28/04/2024 10:40

@piechipsgravy Happy Sunday! Good luck for your scan tomorrow! 😊

Thankfully after spending all day yesterday feeling poorly and being sick. Woken up this morning with nothing and actually feel pretty good. Hopefully this lasts, hopefully going out for lunch with DH and stuffing my face! 😂

UnravellingTheWorld · 28/04/2024 13:11

Today I'm worrying about twins, as they're in my family and my appetite has been beyond ridiculous - I'm sure I didn't eat this much with my first!

Scan is this week, so I'm looking forward to not having to worry about the tops I wear and if they make me look pregnant. Because I'm definitely gaining weight after all that food!

Bratzy · 28/04/2024 14:05

Jealous of the upcoming scans! Best of luck with them.😊A little under 3 weeks left until mine.

Sparksi · 28/04/2024 14:12

Exciting all the scans! Do let us know

Sparksi · 28/04/2024 14:20

I’ve been away for the weekend which has been so wonderful!

But otherwise feeling crap to be honest. I vomited really suddenly last night without a trigger, then was sick another two times. It really wasn’t nice!

Most of you will know and remember I’ve been anxious about silly things so far. No doubt compounded by previous loss, but all the same it wasn’t very rational. I feel more at ease about baby’s health and wellbeing now I’m nearly 11 weeks but I am struggling with my own emotions now; I am unpicking pretty much every element of my life that I used to be happy with pre pregnancy. For example, I’ve always loved my job but now I’m feeling like I would be better in a different role - obviously I can’t move as I wouldn’t get any maternity pay, and the only trigger I can find for it is pregnancy hormones as nothing has actually changed in my organisation. I’m worried about my family’s health and feel preoccupied with the idea that DH could leave (he has never, ever given me any such impression and we love each other very much!).

It’s been a weird old time hormonally. I do have a lot of support- DH, family, friends, but I still feel a bit vulnerable in it because in the moment my anxieties feel really real. Hope this makes some sense and sorry to bring the mood down! Xx

LegoBear84 · 28/04/2024 14:38

Me too @Bratzy mine's not until 16th May!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I'm shattered today after going to Warwick Castle yesterday with a friend and our 2 boys, followed by a 5 year olds soft play birthday party. I've just had a really lovely nap but woken up starving!!

ChocolateSaxophone · 28/04/2024 15:20

@Sparksi sorry to hear you also had a surprise vomit. I think it's normal at this sort of turning point to be assessing everything "pre-pregnancy" and if it's really something you want to continue afterwards - you're right that hormones play a huge part in this!

ChocolateSaxophone · 28/04/2024 15:25

@1yearplan is the NIPT the same as the NHS 12 week scan tests or is a totally different thing?
