Hi everyone and welcome to thread 3.
Please ask if you’d like the link to the private Facebook group. It expires after a couple of days so I won’t add it to this post.
If you’re new to the thread, we are a friendly and supportive bunch all in it together and hoping to welcome our new additions in November 2024!

I finally got my bloods back and I got the all clear 🥳 no evidence of recent infection and I have the igg antibodies so have had it in the past and unlikely to get it again in the future. I feel so relieved!

That’s great news!

piechipsgravy · 25/04/2024 21:37

@Kinsters @LegoBear84 @y0rkier0se @Sparksi thanks! I still have sore throat and swollen glands so will try and speak to my GP about that and try not to transfer my anxiety onto cmv... hope you're all feeling ok today!

@muddlingthrou so sorry to hear about your dad ❤️

MrsS11 · 25/04/2024 21:47

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad @mudmuddlingthrou , hopefully your good news will give everyone some positive distraction in a tough time.
I also get PGP and have hyper mobility @CurlyWurly1991 but I found pilates makes a huge difference, I've never been as sore as in my first pregnancy (before I started doing pilates). It helps with the pelvic floor afterwards too :)

muddlingthrou · 25/04/2024 22:09

Thank you @MrsS11, @piechipsgravy, @1yearplan and @Meatballsandpasta, really appreciate the kind words

sabretoothtigger · 26/04/2024 08:55

@muddlingthrou I'm sorry about your dad. The mind is an incredibly powerful thing, so I hope your little bundle gives him an extra push to get through it. Penny Brohn are an amazing source of support and advice for the whole family.

1yearplan · 26/04/2024 08:59

Morning ladies, how are you all? I've come down with norovirus. I've not had it in years. It's just horrible!! Any tips of how to get through it??

sabretoothtigger · 26/04/2024 10:06

Oh @1yearplan is that in addition to already dealing with nausea? What are your healthcare team saying? Can you stay hydrated at least? No tips sorry, but really hope it passes quickly. How awful 😢

@waryandbored have you found something that works for you yet? Did they prescribe an alternative this week?

@MaryLola aw, congratulations and welcome!

@MrsS11 did your booking in appt go well on Wed?

I got through mine okay, but as I suspected I have to go to the hospital for my bloods. Also I'll be consultant led, which was a given anyway due to my age and other factors.

1yearplan · 26/04/2024 12:34

@sabretoothtigger, I've not had any sickness this pregnancy. I thought it was beginning last night - but it turns out it's norovirus. I'm on water at the moment and am keeping that down, so hopefully on the up now.

Lew157 · 26/04/2024 12:43

Hi everyone

Had a 10 week reasurance scan today and all went well (yay)

I was curious on your thoughts if it possible to use the skully/nub theory so early on.

I already have a little girl and i could never see the difference then. This scan looks so different and ive literally felt so different this time around. I wouldnt mind either boy or girl this time around. Easier if it is a girl as i still have everything.

Just wondering whats everyones thoughts are. So please if you can see anything post away.

Fully understand if its too early, just curious to hear people thoughts.

piechipsgravy · 26/04/2024 13:25

@1yearplan that's so rubbish! Hope you recover quickly.

I'm struggling massively with health anxiety/being a hypochondriac. I've always been an anxious person but never health related so it's new to me. I feel so hyper aware of every twinge/odd sensation in my body and am overthinking everything in relation to the baby. Any tips for how to make my peace with these new, unusual sensations?

Hoppyhops · 26/04/2024 13:43

Hello, I’m hoping I can join on the thread as I’m due around early November (have 12 week scan next week to confirm). It’s a bit of a surprise as we have a 10 month old who took years to get so we didn’t expect a second one, let alone so soon!

I’m a bundle of nerves and excitement now that the shock as subsided a bit but at least everything will be very fresh in my mind 😅

Just sending a hug because I’m the same. I haven’t found a solution other than keeping distracted and reassuring myself with statistics. It’s hard though when you’re particularly worrying about something x

waryandbored · 26/04/2024 15:57

@sabretoothtigger I’ve been prescribed something new - metoclopramide. I’ve freaked myself out a bit looking at the side effects though!

muddlingthrou · 26/04/2024 16:02

I'm a bit frustrated as my GP won't prescribe meds at the same dosage as the hospital. They've said it isn't good for me to be on such a high dose for an extended period, but my nausea has come back with a vengeance 😢

Ah I had that through some previous treatment, and didn't notice any side effects from it. It's really effective for nausea! I hope it works for you. Which side effects are you worried about?

Oh that’s reassuring. I read that it can cause involuntary movements which can be permanent! And bad headaches. I’m going to give it a go as I’m getting cabin fever now and really need to be back at work as soon as possible.

Oh that's rubbish! What do they call an extended period? More than a week or two? Is there anything else they can suggest.
I really feel for all of you who are suffering badly with nausea and sickness 💐
@piechipsgravy after my early viability scan, I was feeling quite relaxed until my booking appt, and although there was nothing unexpected, it started me worrying again. Not sure if it was simply the mention of my age. I've looked at some reassuring stats because I like to be over prepared. But I've also started some short relaxation meditations and visualisations that are helping more than anything.

Westy22 · 26/04/2024 19:52

I'm a massive over thinker @piechipsgravy totally get what your going through. Unfortunately I had an early MC last year with my first pregnancy and trying to shake off the fear it's going to happen again is so hard. Scans relax me for a little while and then it kicks in again and I find myself mentally trying to prepare for the worst outcome. Hoping after my dating scan Tuesday where I should be 13+1 I'll start to really calm down. I take time out of mumsnet/google when it gets bad as I think there's way too much information available to us and read things that trigger me more. I've even had sonographers telling me to calm down and to try and enjoy it....easier said than done. Xx

MrsS11 · 26/04/2024 20:40

Thanks @sabretoothtigger it was all fine, helps it to feel a bit more real. And I've somehow managed to keep my BMI below 30 which I was worried about 😅 unfortunately I'll still apparently need a GTT because my last baby was 10lb5oz, I've always dreaded them because I feel awful if I don't eat breakfast and if I take too long to eat it just now I'll spew.. so we'll see.
I've got my date for my dating scan, and it's when I'm 13.5 weeks which I'm a bit worried about too (given the history of big babies) as I'm always late and don't want an overly early due date. But again I don't think there's much to do about it.

SouthwestSis · 27/04/2024 07:32

Eurgh I've got a cold, and feeling first trimester grossness and having to start night shifts tonight feels like too much:(
Husband is taking the lead with my toddler so I can rest, really need to wash my hair as I haven't managed to in 5 days, just feeling quite sorry for myself right now!

Everythingzrosie · 27/04/2024 08:02

Hello 👋🏻

may I join in with the chat?

Im due 25/11 and I’m currently 9+2
also very old 😂this is my 12th bfp, hopefully my 6th baby. A very surprise BFP as I am perimenopausal.

look forward to getting to know you all

sabretoothtigger · 27/04/2024 13:38

Welcome and congratulations on your little surprise @Everythingzrosie There are a few of us slightly older mums on this thread so you've got some company.
Sounds like your an old hand at this, but how are you finding it this time so far?

sabretoothtigger · 27/04/2024 15:02

@MrsS11 oh glad your appointment went well, and well done on the BMI. How much does that change your antenatal care?
I also have to do the GTT, but I've never done one before, and sounds like ignorance is bliss.
I also have a late scan in week 13, but I assumed they take that into account. Have your previous babies been big early in the pregnancy?

Meatballsandpasta · 27/04/2024 15:33

Do we have a weekly pregnancy bingo card running yet? I can tick off "vomited through nose" now 🙃 so much for morning sickness being gone. 11+1 today.

Riverstardust · 27/04/2024 15:44

@Meatballsandpasta I have also done that twice today, not nice. Sorry you're also having that. I bought a saline nose spray which helps the acidy nose feeling after.
