@mrssunshinexxx @Welshcake15 I used hypnobirthing too with my first child and labour was much more manageable than expected as a result. Will be doing it again too

Sparksi · 19/04/2024 08:33

First time being sick.

I’ve just brushed my teeth and vomited my breakfast a little. I could feel my stomach churning so waited a few minutes and was sick again, much more that second time, thought it was never ending.

I don’t know if it counts as nausea/sickness as the trigger was absolutely brushing my tongue… then again that would’ve never made me hurl before pregnancy!

1yearplan · 19/04/2024 08:45

Another vote for hypnobirthing! Ive got a book by Sophie Fletcher which I highly recommend.

Let's see if this one gets blocked too... previous comment still awaiting review! I went to Boots yesterday and bought a canister of their folic acid + vitamin D and they are TINY and you only need one a day. Picture is on my index fingernail. So that's what I'll be using until I can face the huge ones again.

Anyone else gag at the smell of the kitchen? 😂 swear I can't set foot in there somedays

LegoBear84 · 19/04/2024 07:24

@Cazzy87 I had my booking appointment yesterday too and felt super nervous beforehand, my heart rate was crazy! But once I got in it was absolutely fine despite the fact one of my veins gave up halfway through them collecting blood samples 🤦‍♀️

they had to stab me 4 times (2 on each arm 😫) to get mine! have left a lump and huge bruise now! which is odd because i'm a regular blood giver and never had a problem! pregnancy eh 😅mine was good, had a student midwife but she was lovely! waiting for 12 weeks scan letter now in the post...

Yes. And the fridge. And the bin.

Riverstardust · 19/04/2024 11:14

@Sparksi glad I'm not the only one. Having to evacuate as soon as I get a whiff and send DH to get me what I need! 😂

Daydreamer94 · 19/04/2024 11:26

How are you ladies managing to work?? I have been lucky to have mainly been working from home the last month or so and will need to be back in the office 2x per week from next week and I honestly don’t know how I will manage. I am dealing with extreme hunger, nausea and constant spitting not to mention the tiredness. I was away last week visiting DH family abroad which was lush as didnt have to do much but I am only 8+4 so still another month of feeling rubbish :(

I’m also feeling really lethargic today, and due in the office next week too. I don’t want to go, namely because now I’ve vomited I can’t be sure I won’t on the commute / in the office. Can you have a word with your manager and see if you can WFH? I don’t feel confident enough to do that as I feel they might think I’m taking the mickey.

SouthwestSis · 19/04/2024 12:05

At the moment I'm mainly managing work by doing very on my days off, which is a bit sad.
13hr shifts at the weekend with an hour commute each way nearly broke me :(

Oh no! Sorry to hear you vomited, how far along are you. Fingers crossed it was a one time thing. I have only been sick once its not happened again - but I literally have to carry a cup to spit in at all times. Which is not a good look in the office lol.

tbh I feel like I have already pushed it with half-term and annual leave I haven’t been in for a month. Without telling them I am pregnant not sure if they would understand and I am not sure I want to tell them yet but might not have a choice!

SouthwestSis · 19/04/2024 12:07

Should say *doing very little on my days off

Well as little as I can get away with whilst entertaining a toddler

Oh that sounds tough! Do you have a job that requires you to be there 5 days a week? And 13hrs?! I salute you, hope you manage to rest whenever you can! How has your 1st tri been so far?

Bratzy · 19/04/2024 12:17

I've just had a big shooting pain type feeling inside my vagina! Is this normal?? Something to worry about? Never felt that before. 😩

SouthwestSis · 19/04/2024 12:34

@Daydreamer94 I work 36 a weeks, only about a third of the shifts are 13hrs long but it means I can get my hours into 4 days a week.
About 5% of my job can be done at home so I do get a wfh day every couple of weeks and I had one this week thankfully.
First tri has been hard coping with the fatigue, my OH has been stepping up what he does at home, in fact I think it's 80% him atm!
Not looking forward to night shifts next week though.

@Bratzy welcome to lightening crotch, it's unpleasant but not harmful

Bratzy · 19/04/2024 12:41

@SouthwestSis Lightening crotch 😅I text my friend and she said she's had it a few times, but not in the first tri. Trying not to compare or worry.

Oh gosh. A lump and a bruise? How have they managed that? Hope you get your 12w scan letter through soon.
So do they usually take loads of bloods at the booking in appointment? I fear I might have to disappoint them. I've only got one arm they can use, with messed up veins (from medical treatment). Is it a lot of blood they need?

sabretoothtigger · 19/04/2024 13:00

Ah ha, lightening crotch, that's what it's called. Thanks @SouthwestSis I just assume everything down there is some sort of moving around, stretching, or digestion related something. But I love this 😂

Did anyone else's nausea not really kick in until 8 weeks or more. Mine has been really mild so far, and whilst I'm certainly not complaining if I'm simply lucky, it's also worrying me and giving me a bad feeling.

muddlingthrou · 19/04/2024 13:03

@sabretoothtigger - they took three vials of blood from me, all from one needle stick. It wasn't too bad.

Ah, thank you! That's really helpful to know. Sounds like I'll need a butterfly needle for that much.

3 small vials of blood they took from me, plus urine sample and 50 million questions about mine and dads medical history, only thing letting me down is my weight otherwise she said all was fine, i have to have higher dose from gp of folic acid and a few extra growth scans towards the end❤

strawberrycake12 · 19/04/2024 13:15

@Cazzy87

I had my booking appointment today too! And I've just checked badger notes and my hospital 12 week scan date has already been confirmed on there. Do you have a similar app? You may be able to find out your date sooner

AccountingMummy · 19/04/2024 13:25

Hi all!! Haven't posted since the first thread I have been struggling so much with the nausea and fatigue I haven't been myself this first tri

I'm 10+5 today and got NIPT test results back yesterday. All low risk and found out we are having a little baby girl 🥰 utterly over the moon!

Can't wait for the NHS scan though (happening on Weds so just over 11 weeks) just to confirm if everything is okay.

I have a dinner tonight, wedding tomorrow and parents over on Sunday I don't know how I'm going to cope. The thought of a wedding from 10 am (including travel) to midnight is making me so worried, I'm going to fall asleep at the wedding breakfast. Anyone got any tips for energy during the first tri? Just a short boost! Praying for a miracle here
