Hi everyone and welcome to thread 3.
Please ask if you’d like the link to the private Facebook group. It expires after a couple of days so I won’t add it to this post.

Morning all, Is anyone else breathless? I stood up quickly last night and my vision went funny. My blood pressure reading is on the higher side. I'm trying to decide if it's worth calling the EPU or if it's normal. I've not had this in previous pregnancies.

I think it can be common to feel dizzier and more breathless in pregnancy. I certainly need more breaks when on a walk, struggling with hills and steps at the moment just from being out of puff. Definitely call the EPU or GP if you’re worried though.

Bubble17 · 17/04/2024 10:04

Hi all, I’ve just received this text 😳 should I be worried? Has anyone else had similar?

(First time pregnant after a long fertility rollercoaster so the anxiety is high!! 🙈)

November 2024 Babies - thread 3

Thinking of you today @purplecolouroffunk

I haven't had my bloods back yet @Bubble17 but hope it's all ok!

After ringing the maternity helpline, EPU and GP this morning I finally got a telephone consultation with a doctor at 3.20 today to get referred for some immunity bloods. Then realised it's 10 mins before I am due to meet my (toxic) CEO and can't risk being late for that meeting. So am now back on hold to push the call back or cancel and try again tomorrow. As much as I need to put baby first, it's genuinely easier to move a doctors appointment than expect my boss to be understanding. Also have a banging headache this morning- hope it's nothing to be concerned about.

1yearplan · 17/04/2024 10:18

I think I'll give them a call @Sparksi, it's the high blood pressure that's worrying me too.

Thinking of you today @purplecolouroffunk.

@piechipsgravy I hope you manage to get the appointment changed.

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this so not sure what I’m doing😅

I’m 9+5 and have my first scan(private) next week. I’m a nervous wreck! I don’t have many symptoms and if I do I have been really lucky with the ones I do have, although saying that I have been feeling sicky all day so far so I may be speaking to soon🤢 . Did many of you change your diet and the things you drink(obviously non alcoholic) drastically or you are just more careful?

Meatballsandpasta · 17/04/2024 11:27

Welcome @Sliiim ! Nice to see you over here and welcome to Mumsnet. We're a friendly bunch.

In all honesty most of my diet changes have been because of my food aversions and foods smelling "wrong"! But then again, before pregnancy I was totally vegan so the risky things like soft cheeses / raw sushi / risky meats etc just aren't on my radar. I'm having the occasional egg and dairy now in" "easy foods" like biscuits and yogurts just so I'm eating something but I'm fairly low risk in the grand scheme of things.

Meatballsandpasta · 17/04/2024 11:28

@Bubble17 it's a very neutral text but maybe they just need to know what prenatal you're taking or something boring. It's not necessarily bad news just because they want to call you, I think. Fingers crossed!

Sliiim · 17/04/2024 11:47

@Meatballsandpasta Thank you for the warm welcome! I haven’t been put off food just yet. I am vegetarian and I can’t say my diet is extremely healthy . I do need to get better. I’m also still trying to find a drink I can have which isn’t just plain water(not a fan) I’m finding today I have a really bad taste in my mouth after I drink anything🤢 can’t even get rid of it if I chew gum!

When I was feeling sick one of my favourite things was a glass of iced tea. I get these cold brew tea bags from Ahmad London (I can buy them in the shops where I live but I've only seen them on Amazon in the UK), you just put the bag in cold water and it's so nice. I like the peach passion fruit but the best is the mango lychee. They don't have any sweeteners which is nice.

I haven’t been able to cope with plain water very well either. What about cordial/squash? Then it’s mainly water. Belvoir do some which are just fruit and no artificial sweeteners. Watered down cheapy carton apple juice is going down well for me too

Sliiim · 17/04/2024 12:10

@Kinsters They sound lovely!! Okay I shall have a look at those, is there a limit on how many you can have a day?

purplecolouroffunk · 17/04/2024 12:15

Not good news. No growth since last week, looks like nothing grew after about the 5 week mark and I should be at 7+4 today. The little guy never really took off and it wasn’t meant to be. Going ahead with the D&C this afternoon.

Feeling okay at the moment. It makes it easier that there was never an embryo, and to be honest I have a huge feeling of relief after being in limbo for 8 days. I’m sure emotions will come later.

I’m sending you all the best vibes for your pregnancies 💜

Meatballsandpasta · 17/04/2024 12:20

I'm so sorry @purplecolouroffunk . Wishing you all the best for everything going forward ❤️

meepthebeep · 17/04/2024 12:23

Hi @purplecolouroffunk I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. The same thing happened to me in December (I got to 11 weeks before finding out nothing had progressed past 5-6 weeks).

I also had a D&C and felt so well looked after by the doctors and anaesthetist. Before I knew it, I was awake again in recovery and everything had gone smoothly. There was minimal pain for that afternoon only, and then some bleeding on and off for maybe a week to 10 days, and my cycle started again really quickly, if that’s any consolation.

The really tough bit is the emotional side of things which can take a lot longer to work themselves out. Take really good care, hopefully you have lots of support IRL too. Please do feel free to send a PM if there’s anything else about the D&C or anything you wanted to ask about. Sending you all the best 💐 Xx

sabretoothtigger · 17/04/2024 12:49

@purplecolouroffunk I'm so sorry it wasn't better news. Mine was picked up at my 12w scan, and it also helped me a little to know there was never an embryo. Sending virtual hugs x

How much water do you put in to water it down? Or is it just as much as you want?😂 At work I normally drink squash so I don’t know why I don’t at home.

Just as much as you want! With apple juice I usually just do it so it’s not too acidy on my teeth. Maybe 2/3 apple juice and 1/3 water

I’m so so sorry @purplecolouroffunk. Thinking of you and hope this afternoon goes as well as it possibly can. Sending you lots of love xxx

I don't think so, they have a bit of tea in them but there can't be much caffeine as I'm very sensitive to caffeine and having a glass before bed doesn't affect me. I think the mango lychee is green tea.

So sorry to hear this. I've also been there and found it helpful to know that nothing ever developed.

Look after yourself after the D&C, even though it's a quick and simple surgery it still takes it out of you plus a general anaesthetic can make you extra emotional x

StayingHopefulx · 17/04/2024 18:59

Hi all, hope you’re all keeping well! I’ve tried to read through all the messages to see if anyone has had the same.
I was quite constipated and went to the toilet last night and noticed blood in the toilet and when I wiped front there was pink on the toilet paper! That has been it tho, not entirely sure where it came from (I know sounds so stupid!) I rang GP and A&E they both said as long as I have no severe pain and no further bleeding it should be fine! I’ve done a lot of research and have read straining can cause bleeding from the cervix because it’s so sensitive! I have my scan Friday but my head is gone and I keep thinking the worst! I also usually have severe nausea but nothing today but saying that I do have some good days with that too so hoping it’s just a coincidence! (8weeks +4 days) Thank you so much

If it’s stopped it will more than likely be fine. If it was going to be serious it would have got a lot heavier. The fact it started after the trigger of straining as well suggests it was literally just that. You would have more reason to worry if it had started out the blue, not stopped and got heavier or darker in colour. Symptoms come and go too! I had some days where I felt ok between 8-9 weeks. I then felt great yesterday at 9 weeks exactly. Now back to retching at the smell of food 😂
