What is the latest any if you ladies have been invited for your '12 week scan'. I received mine yesterday for when I'll be 15+1!

I’ll be coming up to 14 weeks with mine. Really frustrated as my booking appt was at 7+6 and I notified them of the pregnancy at 4 weeks. You’d really think they could see us around the 11.5-12.5 mark like they’re supposed to, wouldn’t you?

SouthwestSis · 13/04/2024 17:53

@ThatBloatIsBloating the dating scan should be done before the end of 14th week and if baby's length measures too long because you're beyond that date then they won't be able to use nuchal thickness for your screening and you'll likely be referred for the quad test

This is baby number 3 for me so I know it's too late and i will be calling on Monday to get the scan changed or if that's the earliest possibility then I'll change to another hospital in my trust for the scan. I was just curious if anyone else had had their letter saying they'd be that far past the 12 week point. Seems silly to even offer it really.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/04/2024 18:12

@ThatBloatIsBloating 13+2 but not having screening so think that's why I'm so late

UnravellingTheWorld · 13/04/2024 18:45

@ThatBloatIsBloating Wow! With my first, my scan was 14+4 - but that was in the middle of lockdown #3!

carlymarie24 · 13/04/2024 19:03

Wow is there a baby boom or something 🤣 I don’t know when my scan is yet my booking app isn’t till Friday

CurlyWurly1991 · 13/04/2024 19:45

@carlymarie24 could just be standard NHS struggling with capacity 🤷🏼‍♀️ hope there’s not a baby boom!

Morning all,
Is anyone else really struggling to get comfortable at night? No bump, but bloated which looks like a bump and every night I find myself tossing and turning from side to side.

This is me every night! :( I can’t put my finger on why but I’m just not comfy. I’m waking up my partner as I’m always tossing and turning

LegoBear84 · 13/04/2024 20:05

@Daisychain27 it's rubbish isn't it? sometimes it takes me forever to fall asleep then I'm awake tossing and turning. I'm definitely taking advantage of the odd daytime nap when I'm not at work though if I can.

CurlyWurly1991 · 13/04/2024 21:20

My partner has moved to the spare room as we’re both light sleepers and me waking up 2-3 times a night has been really bothering him. It’s a lot easier tbh as I always feel guilty waking him up too.

Rolly321 · 14/04/2024 05:22

I've not got my booking appointment until 12 weeks, then got my scan the week after. I have no idea why the booking appointment is so late! I'm sure it was about 9 or 10 weeks last time.

My nausea is kicking in about 4.30pm every day. I can feel a bit of it earlier, but from 4.30 I'm absolutely useless. Tried to do a food shop the other evening and that was probably the most horrible thing I've ever done to myself!

Also wondering when I should tell my line manager I'm pregnant. Last time I told him at 6 weeks as Boris announced that pregnant women needed to isolate so had to tell him I wouldn't be in work. I'm a teacher and they never managed to appoint a cover teacher last time so my colleagues had to cover my entire timetable between them. I think it was the timing of November- November that made the job undesirable for applicants so I'm not looking forward to telling him about my second November baby! But I guess I should tell him before he gets too far with planning the timetable for next session.

piechipsgravy · 14/04/2024 06:25

@Rolly321 are you planning on taking a full year again? I'm also a teacher and really would like a year but in my head it seems silly to not return mid July to then get paid for summer holidays. But I am torn!

CurlyWurly1991 · 14/04/2024 07:58

I’m not a teacher but work around school terms, my plan )all being well) is to slow down/take AL and then mat leave around October half term then return in September 25. My first child arrived naturally at exactly 38 weeks last time a good weight etc so I wonder if that is just normal for my body. I was a teacher last time and I think it is a hard job to do in pregnancy and especially restrictive with times, terms etc. However I did do as you mention @piechipsgravy and returned just before the summer holidays to take advantage of that leave. It’s totally fair when teachers aren’t able to choose when they have their leave unlike most jobs.

Rolly321 · 14/04/2024 08:28

@piechipsgravy yes, I plan to. I think I had some PND for the first while with my daughter and I only really started to enjoy it when she was about 6 months. Hopefully it won't, but I'm fearful that will happen again. But if it does I'll get help this time.

Also financially we are in an ok position. For my first I managed to save a years wages because it took so long to get pregnant, but because of covid I didn't spend much so only used about half so still have that left over. I'm the main bread winner but my husband got a new job two years ago and he's paid more too, so between my savings and his extra salary I think we should be able to afford it. We do have nursery fees to consider this time though, although I suppose if I'm off I won't need to send her into nursery every day.

My other consideration is breastfeeding - my little girl was a total boob monster for the first year so all being well I don't want to cut that short for my second. Pumping made me feel horrendous so it's from source or not at all.

Planning to go off mid November (due 30th - last time the October holidays coincided so I just went off then!) although most friends have said they went off earlier with their second because they were exhausted from looking after their first heavily pregnant, so we will see. Back on payroll end of November but take accrued leave in December and start back properly in January.

y0rkier0se · 14/04/2024 09:13

@piechipsgravy have you looked into shared parental leave? I’m hoping to use the three periods to “return to work” during the Easter, May and summer holidays meaning full pay for that time but without actually “returning to work”. My DP won’t be taking the time off but that’s irrelevant, you’re still entitled to it. I’m not going to take the full year - I feel that I’d rather return in September to a new class rather than return after October half term after someone else has had them for half a term.

Hi everyone, just discovered these threads this morning , wish I'd found them sooner. I'm 9+4 with a due date estimated at November 13th. I'm on the older side and with previous miscarriage, I've been in an almost constant state of anxiety. It calmed after early scan at 6 weeks but has started to creep back in. NIPT booked for next Sunday. Without scan. I am now wishing I booked the scan as well!

who should I DM for the Facebook link ? X

muddlingthrou · 14/04/2024 12:10

Welcome ☺️ I share your anxiety even though I had a scan last week and have terrible morning sickness... until I feel the baby kicking I don't think I'll believe there's anything in there!

Welcome and congrats!

Ladies, how are you/did you feel at 8/9 weeks? I'm 8+3 and hadn't thrown up since early last week, and the nausea was fairly mild if I ate a little often. Yesterday evening I went on a date with bf and had a lovely Italian meal. I took it easy and didn't eat as much as I usually would. Under 2 hours later I threw up. Since then the nausea has ramped up. I feel constantly on the edge of throwing up. Of course just in time for going back to college tomorrow. 😩 It's so difficult because I'm both scared of letting myself get hungry, and now to eat as well!! I've been wearing travel sickness bands for a couple of weeks, but not sure if they work or not. I'm also going to swap the pregnacare to folic acid and vit D, just to see if that helps at all.

Westy22 · 14/04/2024 12:38

@Jennie1985 I hear you!! I'm in same situation, pregnancy after miscarriage...no children so all I know is loss 😱 I've had 2 early scans last one at 7+5 but have ended up booking at private one for this afternoon (I'm 10+4) as my NHS scan isn't till 12+6 and I can't go that long without a check in. Hoping the anxiety settles once I've passed my 12 week scan 🙈 I'm also older (37) so totally petrified. X

LegoBear84 · 14/04/2024 13:26

@Bratzy I'm 8+1 and so far I'd just had spells of nausea which most of the time were relieved by a small snack. However from yesterday I feel the nausea has ramped up and I threw up after having a cuppa and a some biscuits. I am still eating normal sized meals but feeling queasy afterwards which isn't pleasant. Think I'm going to try smaller more frequent meals/snacks and hope it doesn't get worse.
Hats off to those of you on medication for sickness and who've been suffering for weeks already.

Thanks, I am now in the Facebook group!
I know what you mean , doesn't seem real!
I've had varying levels of nausea since week 6. I'm also hungry all the time, and tired.
I don't remember feeling like this with my daughter, although it was 10 years ago now!

I'm holding onto hope that second trimester may be easier! I also know I don't have symptoms as bad as many women do, so I try not to complain too much.

Meatballsandpasta · 14/04/2024 17:13

I've had "just nausea" for weeks and after a day on cyclizine I am a whole new person. I actually have an appetite for starters, so we're going out to the pub for dinner to celebrate 🥳 I know it's the cyclizine and not just me being fine because I'm great for 6 hours until it's time for another dose and I start feeling queasy/nauseous/horrible and then within 40mins of taking a tablet I'm back to full speed again. Would recommend, even for "just nausea". Total game changer.

Firsttymmum · 14/04/2024 17:35

Hey guys , hope yous have all had a good day. I have been in bed most of mine as just felt so awful. My first app with midwife is next week 9+5 and scan is 13 +3 madness as normally 8 and 12 but must be a really busy time if everyone is later .

I have requested to join the Facebook group too! 🫶

tempted to get a early scan booked I feel like another 4 weeks and a bit is ages away!!!

I might go to the GP this week. I wonder if it would help my food aversions. Is cyclizine safe to take?
