@Firsttymmum mine is 2.75 and I'm struggling with him climbing on me! He keeps pushing against my chest and it kills me 🙈 Plus he keeps begging to go to the skate park every day. Do not have this kind of stamina!

taytay2020 · 13/04/2024 09:00

Omg everyone, I was so bloated yesterday that a work colleague very confidently congratulated me on my pregnancy 🤦

I was so taken aback, and it was such bad timing (I literally had 10 seconds for this conversation) that all I could do was lie to his face and deny deny deny!

In an ideal world I would have laughed it off and told him I'm just bloated, but I just didn't have the brain space or time to do that (it was a 'literally 10 seconds away from giving a presentation to the whole company' sort of situation). I wasn't going to see this guy again for a few months, so all I knew was that if I let him walk away thinking I was pregnant there was a very real chance that he might accidentally mention it to a lot of other people I know - including MY PARENTS.

🤦🤦🤦🤦

(He's definitely going to find out that I lied, isn't it? He deserves it, foolishly making assumptions like that and saying them out loud, but omg.)

Don’t worry. He shouldn’t have put you on the spot. In fact nobody should ever say that, even if someone is obviously pregnant, you wait for them to mention it! Ffs. Imagine if you’d just got IBS or were intolerant to something you’d eaten. Even worse that it was from a bloke!

mrssunshinexxx · 13/04/2024 09:17

@Firsttymmum fingers crossed they help. I have a 2 and 3 year old x

UnravellingTheWorld · 13/04/2024 09:22

@taytay2020 He had no business commenting!!!

taytay2020 · 13/04/2024 11:29

@sparksi This was a particularly oblivious almost-retired bachelor. Definitely the person most likely to put his foot in his mouth in a whole variety of situations, particularly regarding women. He does mean no harm though and probably (rightly) went home feeling very awkward and foolish! Good to know he's happy for me but omg he needs to learn 😂

@unravellingtheworld haha this is brilliant! So true!

CurlyWurly1991 · 13/04/2024 12:07

Ugh @taytay2020 that man had no business asking if you were pregnant! Unbelievable!! Although little does he know 😜

7+4 and nausea has ramped right up. I’m trying ginger root capsules… hopefully something will help. Previously it was enough to eat regularly but right now all food is just repulsive.

I feel ya. Food has been disgusting to me since 5+6. Worse over the past week especially, and has ramped up today (8+4). I’m eating plain bread, plain pasta, fruit- have you got anything that you don’t mind eating?

Meatballsandpasta · 13/04/2024 12:45

Another low day today. I thought maybe I'd peaked and the nausea was going as yesterday I just felt queasy not properly nauseous or anything, but it's back and I haven't had a chance to pick up the prescription for it yet. Too nauseous to get it today so DW has gone to attempt to collect it for me. I'm back in bed already. So over this part. I'm at the point of pleading with Baby to ease up a little. Apparently s/he's growing teeth right now. Why.

Edited to add I'm 9+1 now. Maybe I'll be over this part soon.

CurlyWurly1991 · 13/04/2024 13:13

@Sparksi cold plain stuff like raw fruit and veg, cereal, salad is all ok. Yogurt etc. I need to force myself to eat.

@Meatballsandpasta hopefully this is the peak week and it will be easier after week 9. I had severe nausea in my first pregnancy and had to be signed off work, hoping it doesn’t get that bad this time. Take care - it will pass!

piechipsgravy · 13/04/2024 13:54

I thought at 10+1 I was over the worst of the nausea but I just threw up in the car 🙃

Oh no🫣🤢 have you been sick many times in total or is it mainly just nausea for you? X

piechipsgravy · 13/04/2024 14:05

@Sparksi it's mainly nausea- this is only the second time I've been sick. Luckily I had an emergency bag for life and roll of toilet roll in the car just in case 😅

Sparksi · 13/04/2024 14:06

I just feel like a slug today. Seriously low in energy and repulsed by every food / smell.
I am yawning sooo much. I said I’d go to the office on Monday (just as a, oh, I might as well come in for the morning) but I’ve not been asked to be there and there is nothing that I need to be there for. But all my team will be there, so I’ll stick out a bit if I choose to stay home. Not sure what to do. I know I might feel better by then but I have almost have this instinct to just stay home and rest 🤣

🙁 that’s rough. At least you were prepared. I somehow always thought it eased off after 8 weeks but it seems 8-11 weeks for all of us is the height of symptoms!

Firsttymmum · 13/04/2024 14:43

I’m still having nausea with the anti sickness so going to try them without tomorrow but working and feeling sick is awful. It gives me some comfort knowing your all feeling the same sorry🙈😂

I can’t wait for I go to my bed tonight 😴

im 9+1 today too @Meatballsandpasta .

Has anyone had spotting before ? I had some spotting when wiping on Fri , I called early pregnancy and they said it was fine as long as it went away which it has ! Was just worried as I never had this my first pregnancy but seems pretty common?

LegoBear84 · 13/04/2024 15:02

@taytay2020 omg yes 100% with the bloated sloshing belly! Is it too early for a pregnancy pillow?! 😆

@Firsttymmum I don't remember feeling like this first time round, later I remember getting uncomfortable but with a genuine baby bump, a wiggly boy who liked to disco dance as soon as I decided to head to bed in the evening!!

I'm off to research pregnancy pillows... I didn't buy one last time as managed to make do with a rolled up thin pillow. This time I think it'll be decent investment.

Firsttymmum · 13/04/2024 15:20

@LegoBear84 i definitely didn’t either I think it’s maybe second pregnancy!

ThatBloatIsBloating · 13/04/2024 15:54

What is the latest any if you ladies have been invited for your '12 week scan'. I received mine yesterday for when I'll be 15+1!

@curlywurly1991 no it was so much worse than that - he didn't ask, he just said "ahhh now I see why you didn't want to do [upcoming] project, congratulations!" and gestured at my stomach, and when I looked confused and said"... what? no?!" he kinda continued as if it was common knowledge and he'd just missed it. I had to literally stop him from walking away and explicitly tell him he was incorrect.

waryandbored · 13/04/2024 17:21

I have been signed off for my nausea and vomiting 😔 I had a different GP who was not keen on prescribing more meds and made his opinion very clear. He asked how much rest I’ve had since the nausea got bad and I said none really, so he signed me off for 2 weeks. I am dreading telling my boss on Monday.

taytay2020 · 13/04/2024 17:29

@thatbloatisbloating woah! But isn't 15+1 far too late for the combined screening blood test?! Are you having that separately or opting out or something? If not I would chase this up.

CurlyWurly1991 · 13/04/2024 17:30

@waryandbored I know it feels like a lot but honestly, that GP has done you a favour. I think tiredness makes the nausea much much worse, so if you can rest as much as possible for the next couple of weeks you will stand yourself in good stead for the rest of the pregnancy. I need to tell my boss about the pregnancy next week and dreading it too, but we are totally entitled to have babies… the human race would die out otherwise! Whatever they think about it we are well protected in law for time off while pregnant. I hope your nausea settles down soon xx

I think rest up, you and baby are priority and work can and will wait xxxx
