Hi, lovlies. Hope you don't mind me joining. I'm due November 24th, 2024. Fifth and final baby. :)

I can already feel the HG creeping in!

Welcome and congrats! We are due date twins haha. This is my second and I am freaking out - not sure how to cope being outnumbered!

Loz365 · 25/03/2024 10:12

Morning everyone and welcome to the new joiners 😊

I've managed to speak to EPU this morning but they can't see me until Wednesday for a scan. I'm still bleeding but only when I'm wiping and not every time so it hasn't got any worse. The cramps are like bad period cramps though, paracetamol isn't always helping and I struggled yesterday so I'm pretty certain I'm having a MC. Just so cruel that I have to wait until Wednesday to find out 🙁

CurlyWurly1991 · 25/03/2024 10:13

Early days here … but I’ve been thinking we might not find out the gender this time (if we get that far). Kind of like the surprise.
Only about 5 weeks and the only thing I’ve noticed so far is feeling a bit more tired and no period… hope nausea doesn’t ramp up in week 6 as it has done previously…
Update from me is I’ve contacted the GP now ti book me in with the community midwife.

Jellybelly888 · 25/03/2024 10:24

@Loz365 I’m so sorry to hear this and that you can’t get an earlier appointment. I know this won’t be any help at all, but when I was bleeding with my DS, the EPU couldn’t tell me anything helpful at all. The baby was still showing where it should be but they said it was a sit and wait job. The waiting is just horrible and I wish I could give you a squeeze.

I’m so sorry to hear that you have to wait until Wednesday for a scan. I had the same last week - saw my GP on Tuesday and had to wait til Thursday for the EPU to see me. Every minute of waiting feels like a lifetime. Wishing you all the best x

shohopeful · 25/03/2024 10:26

Thinking of you @Loz365. Everything crossed xxx

waryandbored · 25/03/2024 10:27

I’ve just had my scan after my HCG levels rose. Only one sac now so not twins! But they could see a yolk sac this time so there’s been progress. Obviously still very early days so we just have to hope the progress continues. I’ve got another scan next week to see if it’s grown more.

Oh also has anyone tried the Chinese gender predictor?? I'm sure it's rubbish but it's been right for all three of mine!

https://www.baby-chick.com/chinese-gender-calendar/

Mine says girl! I tried it for DD and it predicted girl as well which she is. I wonder how accurate it can be. Anyone live in London and can recommend a place to get NIPT done? I didn't have it with last pregnancy but feel like I would like the option with this one

1yearplan · 25/03/2024 10:37

@Jellybelly888 I'll be having the NIPT test done. I had it done at 10 weeks last time. I was going to wait until 11 weeks, but I think I'll stick with 10.

@Loz365 the wait for the scan feels like each day is a year. You're in my thoughts. I hope you get a positive outcome Wednesday.

Sparksi · 25/03/2024 10:49

I rang the EPU today to tell them about the spotting over the weekend (which has now stopped). They have said they will scan me either today or tomorrow but warned that today (5+6) might see a lot less than tomorrow when I think I’ll be 6 weeks exactly. I took her word for it, she said it would be the longest two weeks of my life waiting to go back for a rescan if they didn’t see all they needed to be. How do I distract myself until tomorrow morning?

I’m hopeful everything is ok as I have woken up with fatigue and strong food aversions, and like I say, no more spotting. I wish I’d just said today now!

Fingers crossed for you, all sounds positive xx

Riverstardust · 25/03/2024 10:59

We'll for sure be doing the NIPT, just think it'll give us a lot of reassurance.

Had a look at the Chinese calendar also, according to that, it's a girl! We shall see! 😊

omghavingababy · 25/03/2024 11:00

@1yearplan you know the NIPT test that you had in your previous pregnancy? Do you get to choose whether to find out the gender or not or is it just a given
Weirdly my husband doesn't want to find out! And now I'm wondering on the NIPT paperwork whether it will say or not

I'm so impatient I think I'm going to do a sneek peak aswell!

1yearplan · 25/03/2024 11:22

@waryandbored that's great news! Keep growing little baby!

@Sparksi can you have lunch with a friend to keep distracted? Or have a nap - that will eat up some time. It's great your EPU were so proactive at getting you booked in.

@omghavingababy you can choose not to find out the sex if the baby. I think it was a box I ticked on the form. The email came in two parts too, one with the results from the NIPT and the other confirmed the sex of the baby. Ahh, you'll have to let me know how you get on with your sneak peek. I'd love to do one.

CadoAvo · 25/03/2024 11:29

I've looked at the sneak peek tests however they are the same price as a gender reveal scan at my local private scanning place so thought I'd prefer to do the scan so I could see baby and find out the sex. Right now though I'm focussing on getting to the early reassurance scan then the 12 week so lots of time to decide still. I will find out the sex one way or another, there's no way I have the patience to wait till birth 😂

Bratzy · 25/03/2024 11:57

I'm also way too impatient to wait for birth to find out the sex 😂

LegoBear84 · 25/03/2024 11:58

Tentatively joining...
Had a faint positive Thursday, followed by a stronger one on Saturday. Was going to do a digital today but completely forgot to collect some of my fmu as was half asleep, so will have to wait till tomorrow 🤦‍♀️

Oooh just tried the calculator & it says girl, it’ll be interesting to see how many are correct! My sickness is easing a little now with the tablets, 8+1 today. I have a reassurance scan booked for 6th April, counting down the days, it can’t come quick enough!

CurlyWurly1991 · 25/03/2024 12:33

I’m sorry @fizzyfantatwist i hope you get good news at the follow up scan 🤞
was it transvaginal? I was told by the sonographer that before about 9 weeks ish it shouldn’t be only abdominal ultrasound as not very reliable.

Shroedy · 25/03/2024 12:41

Ooh, I got girl as well - and when I tried with the dates for my son I got boy so clearly it's totally reliable 😁

@fizzyfantatwist that's super hard but your dates can still be flexible even if you're confident on ovulation, sometimes it takes longer for an embryo to implant etc and scans aren't wholly reliable at this point. Whilst that might not be the case I'd hold tight for the moment, appreciating how hard that is.

Daisychain27 · 25/03/2024 12:52

Does anyone else have experience of brown discharge in these early weeks? I’m 5+2 and have noticed quite a lot of it today, but it’s not dark brown, it’s very light as if a smidge of blood has been mixed with my CM (sorry this is TMI!!). I see lots of people on here getting reassurance from the EPU and having early scans etc and I wonder if should be doing the same…

thanks :)

Hey, not exactly the same but I think I got my dates wrong. According the LMP I should be 7 weeks now but when I had a scan on Thursday all they saw was the sac. I was scanned again today and they saw the yolk sac but nothing else. They’re not concerned and seemed to think it’s normal, my dates must be wrong.. I guess if I ovulated later then that makes sense and that’s what I’m holding onto at the moment. As someone else said, implantation can take a couple of days too and at this stage so much changes in just a few days. Try to stay positive x

Does anyone else just have no symptoms at all? I’m 7 weeks 3 days (I think), I’ve had sore boobs occasionally but even that hasn’t been massively noticeable. My booking in appointment isn’t until the 8th & I don’t have my first scan date as yet… I keep forgetting I’m actually pregnant!
