Interesting how we are all so different

I’ve finally found a very weird combination of food that does not turn my stomach. This hasn’t happened in days. Lightly salted tortilla chips and smoked hummus. I think if I get through the whole pot of hummus I’m taking that as a win given I’ve not eaten much protein at all in the last few days… I’ve literally been on a plain pasta and weetabix diet with the occasional glass of fruit juice :(

Mummysparrow · 01/04/2024 16:56

Struggling to keep up with the chat 🤦😂
So bloated at the moment and my bloating goes up to just under my bra. I had that with my last pregnancy and has to move to bras with no underwriting by 20 weeks 🤦 I normally eating fairly balanced foods and go to the gym. At the moment I am only managing to go to the gym once a week due to tiredness and I am eating so much 😩

I got my positive test a week ago today and it’s been on and off since then. Ever so slightly more persistent the last couple of days maybe, but still very light. How about you?

I actually spotted all the way from 2dpo this cycle so was convinced I was out. I even had some fairly red blood at 9/10dpo. I now wonder if that was implantation. Couldn’t believe it when I saw the positive test!

Exactly the same here - I’ve been worried about luteal spotting and sustaining a pregnancy but my GP doesn’t seem to think it’ll cause an issue. I had a progesterone test at 7dpo this cycle and results were normal. I wish I knew what caused all the spotting!!

Ah I see! Mines been going strong since 5 weeks but I had some before then, too! Question, how did you get your progesterone tested, was that your GP or someone else who did it? Mine just won’t seem to do it? ☹️

@Daisychain27 when I used to spot a lot it was caused by a cervical ectropion. It's harmless and doesn't affect the pregnancy. I've noticed I spot a lot less since having DD so I wonder if it's disappeared. I have had a tiny bit of spotting this pregnancy but with DD it was every day for weeks.

I'm almost totally over the nausea I think. For me it started early but seems to have finished early too. Now I just need this bone crushing tiredness to lift. I have zero energy for my DC! Actually running round and playing with them is fine but the incessant why why why phase is even more exhausting than usual.

Scan on wednesday for me!

Thanks so much. I have had cervical ectropion before, this would be the best explanation but the dr who did my exam yday didn’t say he saw any. We’ll see!!

Daisychain27 · 01/04/2024 17:35

Is anyone else experiencing really greasy hair?! Mine normally doesn’t get greasy at all, but now it’s oily the morning after washing?

I’m also absolutely starving all the time but I never fancy anything, it’s like I’ve got food aversion to all food! Anyone experienced this and got any tips? I’m turning my nose up at everything my DP offers me!

Bratzy · 01/04/2024 17:43

Even through the nausea, I'm still hungry and getting cravings. I'm actually scared to have an empty stomach, as that's when I feel worse! Me and baby's daddy just ordered a Five Guys (mine vegetarian of course) and I'm just hoping I don't end up regretting it lol.

I am incredibly bloated as well. I’ve just taken my trousers off after feeling uncomfortable all afternoon and my stomach feels almost bruised. It’s so tender and hurts if I stretch it at all. I don’t remember being this bloated in my first pregnancy 🙁

H20202 · 01/04/2024 17:50

@Daisychain27 im feeling better now but last week was rough with food and it changes all the time. I could manage toast, crumpets, fruit, certain soups / simple sandwiches. I was off sweet stuff for a while but now wanting jellies and fruit. Can’t stomach chocolate.
I’ve been having my pregnancy supplements at night not the morning and eating a ginger biscuit when I get up which may have helped.

Interesting. I’m glad at least someone else is going through that too! I’m sorry though, it sucks.

I phoned the EPU earlier and they were lovely. Said it’s too early for a scan and to call back on Friday if the spotting is still going and that we’ll come up with a plan. She said it’s most likely a hematoma from implantation and didn’t seem too concerned.

For the progesterone test - I had been to the dr a couple of times about my spotting and they just said I was ‘unlucky’. I didn’t really believe that so I did some research and found that low progesterone can cause spotting. I actually had a private female hormone test done with Randox (think it was £40). The result came back low-ish, so I showed that to my GP and she ordered another test for me.

So basically I had to go away and do my own research and get a private test before the NHS tested me. My GP is lovely but I do think it’s kind of crazy that a hormone imbalance potentially causing the spotting was just never something mentioned to me.

Yes I really can’t think of anything that doesn’t make me think, nope. Plain pasta, fruit juice, and now salted tortilla chips are all ok. I really can’t deal with the thought of eating anything else. If I think about some foods long enough I really want to vomit xx

purplecolouroffunk · 01/04/2024 17:54

So interesting to hear everyone’s symptoms!

My main one is boob tenderness, and it seems to fluctuate throughout the day for me too. They also look huge 😂

I only seem to get queasy when I get hungry. I’ve also been waking up with a sore throat and congested nose for about 2 weeks now. Like a cold that just doesn’t get any worse but also doesn’t go away!!

Weirdly I’ve not been feeling that tired. It’s made me worry from time to time but I guess I’m still early (5+2) and everyone is different.

Bratzy · 01/04/2024 18:00

I feel so greedy reading the other posts 🤣 it's so interesting how we can be complete opposites with some symptoms! I also have the congested/mild cold feeling @purplecolouroffunk

purplecolouroffunk · 01/04/2024 18:07

Oh also just wondering if we have a Facebook group? 😊

purplecolouroffunk · 01/04/2024 18:07

@Bratzy glad it’s not just me!!

1yearplan · 01/04/2024 18:09

I'm finally starting to get some symptoms. Boobs are sore, I haven't had any food aversions. In my last pregnancy I could only stomach really bland food. It makes me think this pregnancy might be a girl.
No nausea either, but I do tire easily and I'm suffering with insomnia at night.
It's funny how we are all so different and how each of my pregnancies has been different too.

Jellybelly888 · 01/04/2024 18:29

Hi ladies, interesting about the greasy hair - I’m the same but I’ve also noticed I am getting hairier where I don’t want to be. I was 6 sessions into my 8 session course of laser hair removal and now my bikini line appears to have reverted back to its original self because I’m having to pause it whilst pregnant. Which is fantastic 🙃 Not sure if it’s because I’m on progesterone pessaries that may affect hair growth? Anyone else?

Also, ladies on their second pregnancy… do you feel like you’re bigger this time around? I’m 9 weeks and definitely feel like I’m already showing but seriously can’t be surely? It’s not just bloat either.

@1yearplan my only food aversions so far have been sausages and ramen- weirdly I've been obsessed with both for a few weeks then suddenly can't face the thought of them!

Sparksi · 01/04/2024 18:49

Sorry to whinge about it (of course, I am 110% grateful for this pregnancy and happy that my symptoms are here!!)

but

My queasy feeling is so so horrific this afternoon. I thought it had gone but it’s returned with a vengeance. I haven’t vomited yet but do really feel as though I could at any time. Where do you draw the line with how fit you are to work? I have a hybrid role and could sorta do it from home but tomorrow I have agreed to help out at an event which will be really busy 9am-2pm. My manager knows I’m pregnant but I don’t want to look flaky. I would just hate my first vomit to be in public haha

1yearplan · 01/04/2024 18:52

@piechipsgravy - pregnancy is so weird at times 😂

@Sparksi I'm a big believer in health and wellbeing coming before work.

muddlingthrou · 01/04/2024 18:53

@Jellybelly888 - I found that all my hair grew back after IPL in my first pregnancy, I think it's the hormones (not sure if it's progesterone or something else). I did have the most luscious thick hair on my head while pregnant, but annoyingly that fell out after I'd given birth, but all the body hair stayed put!

Also re showing - I'm almost 9 weeks and swear I can see a little bump forming already! I am eating constantly to deal with my nausea, so am expanding all over, but this has that firm feeling of a bump. So definitely not just you!

shohopeful · 01/04/2024 18:54

My current food aversion is anything sweet. Chocolate is an absolute no go. And I love chocolate! 🤢🥲

whoops2024 · 01/04/2024 19:20

Hey all. Hope all is well. Praying for those of you having scans and check ups.

I have an early scan next week 🙏 and will discuss a CVS with them then too. Met midwife last week who was just so so lovely and understanding (due to my previous pregnancies 1 baby was stillborn)

This is baby number 3.

Nausea is still about! I can't stop eating carbs! So funny to read lots of you eating salty tortillas as I've been demanding them the last few days! I ate chocolate over the long weekend and it makes me sick (I usually am obsessed with choc) but it makes me gag lol.

Exhaustion is still there (but I do have a toddler to run around after too so extra knackered!)

Baby number 3 so I am already showing I almost look half way there lol but I'm only 8 weeks! However a lot of it is bloating especially in the evening!

Totally get the whole no wire bra thing! I'm living in sports bras and by after dinner it's coming off! Saggy boobs all the way in my t shirt! Luckily DH2B doesn't mind the boob sag 🤣

Today had bangers and mash (beautiful) just what baby needed!

I’m also on progesterone and I literally look about 20 weeks pregnant. I’m pretty sure it’s bloat - I’ve been quite gassy too, which is’ delightful’ 😂

BellatrixK · 01/04/2024 19:31

I’ve managed to be so calm and relaxed so far, but I did what I hoped was my final test this morning- a clear blue weeks one. I’m 5.4 so was expecting a 3+, but it seems to be stuck on 2-3. I’m not really anxious as my two previous losses did this but my successful pregnancy didn’t.

I hate how stressful this early bit is- really hoping all is well and it’s just an inaccuracy.
