Guys someone here is my scan twin this Friday (Good Friday) but I've forgotten who it is please let me know who you are and how many weeks you make yourself to be. I'm getting incredibly nervous and my husband is staying home to look after our 3 year old....so I'll be going alone 😵‍💫

@hicketypickety I think this is great news, it's so hard not to spiral though and go into an anxious pit of worry. Heartbeat visibility is FAB and I think it's amazing they've offered to see you every 2 weeks up until your 12 week. Try not to focus all your energy into worry (easier said than done I know!) sending love

And if it makes you feel any better from someone who suffered severe hyperemesis in 1st pregnancy and puking 7-10 times a day from day dot I have ZERO symptoms this time and zero sickness and I'm in shock. I mean also I'm worried but every pregnancy different I guess!

Bratzy · 26/03/2024 20:35

Anyone else hungry and thirsty all day long??

Riverstardust · 26/03/2024 20:40

@Bratzy yep, drinking at least 4 litres a day! Apparently in pregnancy you have 50% more blood in your body so your kidneys are working over time to filter them. Why you need to pee and drink more.

Food wise I'm always so hungry, guess that's just you trying to get plenty of nutrients to grow muscle, bones, tissue, organs etc!

Yes, that makes sense!

Today the sonographer pressed down really hard when doing the scan. Ladies who have already had abdominal scans / pregnant with DC2, is this normal? I am only 6 weeks and maybe that’s why she was pressing hard, to get a better view. I’m just worried it could’ve hurt the baby. Silly worry to have I know!

muddlingthrou · 26/03/2024 20:58

Yes @Sparksi totally normal to get a good view. Baby is super well protected by the amniotic sac, so don't worry! I just hope it wasn't too uncomfortable for you x

Please try to give yourself a break from all the worrying! Perfume, hcg, testing, symptoms, sex, scan pressure, maternity pay - your poor brain must be fried. Is there some nice things you can do to look after yourself xx

Thanks! I don’t think I’m the only one to worry 😊 The nurse I spoke to today says it’s a very common question and everyone wonders why it feels as though they are so rough when it’s your first scan. When you’ve never experienced it before you don’t have any reference point or know what to expect …

Thank you ! It wasn’t the worst thing but they were late to the appointment so I was desperate for a wee 😂 they said there’s no point arriving early in future as they are almost always running late, even at the start of the day !! I value the honesty ha ha

UnravellingTheWorld · 26/03/2024 21:36

@Bratzy I've been eating ALLLLL day for a solid week. Can't stop snacking! I'm trying to find a decent pregnancy snack. Last time I lived on melon and toasties - one healthy, the other not so much! And also, y'know, eating helps keep the nausea at bay.

I made some cupcakes, so at least that's something homemade. I'd love to get melons again, but it's just me in the house who eats them and an entire melon is a lot 😅

How funny I’ve also been snacking on melon when sickness peaks! I get the medley pot from ALDIs snack section x

Ladies, do we have a Facebook group? I had one for my son’s mumsnet group and it was brilliant. Is still really active now 2 years later.

I'm wondering about this as never had a scan before and read another thread on here about curvier women (which I am) saying the sonographer needs to press harder which will probably happen to me as my belly will be more cake and toasties than baby 😂

Random question but has anyone started to find their husband really irritating since pregnancy. I will be honest, he was a little annoying before but now I have no patience for it and I am constantly giving him dirty looks and he is making me cry quite easily (he isn't being particularly nasty but I feel extra sensitive to his sarcasm).
I think I am 6 +6 and I feel time is going very slowly 😂

Everyone and everything is pissing me off right now! I think it must be hormonal.

Rolly321 · 27/03/2024 04:18

@CadoAvo I was shocked at how hard they pressed down on me for my first scan in my last pregnancy. It was quite uncomfortable. On TV it always looks like they just glide the wand thing over the skin!

Yes!! It's the sarcasm I'm feeling sensitive about too. He usually has me in stitches laughing, but I'm just not finding it funny these past few days. Poor guy.

@y0rkier0se @waryandbored I have looked into it but my DH gets 6 months full pay paternity leave from his work in a block so not sure if it's allowed to also do the SPL?

Can't believe it's 4 weeks today since my first BFP! I've been a bit quieter as honestly I'm feeling anxious about fluctuating symptoms. I felt really bad all weekend with nausea but have felt much better the last few days (and way less teary and hormonal) so I'm thinking the worst. Got another scan on Saturday so just need to make it to that but DH is annoyed with me for not being excited about it.

One thing I have been feeling is very cold. I’m not usually a cold person so having a mini heater at work, then a blanket on me on the sofa at night is very new! With my DS I was constantly hot!

Riverstardust · 27/03/2024 07:08

Anybody else having severe period like cramps in the night? Always wakes me up and it's horrid! Having to take paracetamol for it which obviously I don't want to do too much but otherwise it's just excruciating!

y0rkier0se · 27/03/2024 07:26

@piechipsgravy your partner doesn’t actually have to take any - I’ve been reading and found this website really helpful at explaining it https://www.teachersspl.co.uk/how-it-works

hope you’re feeling a bit better about symptoms, they definitely fluctuate, some mornings I wake up and think my boobs are fine maybe I’m not pregnant, then by the end of the day they’re killing 😂

YES! Me! I’m so glad I’m not alone. Every time I think I’m miscarrying but then there’s no blood. It’s totally fine by the morning. Feels exactly like period pains and it wakes me up in the nights

This!! I am absolutely freezing, so strange. I can’t remember what I was like with DD.

Yes I did last night, felt like someone was stretching out my insides which they kind of are I guess but yeah woke me up and then I couldn't get back to sleep also had DD come into our bed which is a habit I need to kick!
