Another progesterone Q, if I can…

I did have a bit of spotting at the weekend after sex. Due to that and my one previous loss, the EPU have said they will write a letter to the GP to say I can go on progesterone but that the choice is really with me. Should I? It’s hard to know what to do.

Jellybelly888 · 26/03/2024 10:48

@Sparksi i would say yes, it’s a good idea to. Progesterone isn’t known to cause any issues but it can help support an early pregnancy. I think if it’s offered, I’d be inclined to take it at least until 12 weeks following spotting.

1yearplan · 26/03/2024 10:54

@Sparksi it's completely up to you, it's not the most pleasant thing to take, but for me it helps me feel like I am doing something to help the pregnancy along.

@Jellybelly888 the injections have been mentioned to me too - family history of blood clots along with other indications it might be helpful to me. I don't know anyone else that's taken them. How do you find it?
With regards to the consultant, I'd definitely question their decision.

Shroedy · 26/03/2024 11:07

@Sparksi I don't think there is any real downside medically speaking. Whilst I'm looking forward to being done with it at 12 weeks (it's always required with a frozen embryo transfer which is why I'm on it), I don't find it that awful either. And I agree it feels like you're doing something. Do you have particular concerns?

Think I'm 5 weeks today. Had a rough 1st week and a nice day yesterday with no symptoms. DH joked that it would be worse today, and it is. Constant feeling like I'm about to be sick. Just about to go on a morning meeting at work so hopefully I don't throw up and announce to them all. 😂

I’m 5+3 and I felt like everything hit me at 5 weeks! Symptoms really ramped up 🙈

@Sparksi congratulations 🥰

Jellybelly888 · 26/03/2024 11:53

@1yearplan i have a blood disorder called APS which contributed massively to my previous losses. I have 1 x injection of fragmin per day in my tummy. It’s not the most pleasant and it does hurt and bruise, but it’s a small price to pay for a healthy baby. They are a preloaded needle rather than a pen type that diabetics use. Fragmin or heparin have no adverse effects on the baby so if it’s not needed, it doesn’t do any harm to them. For me, it’s the thing that makes or breaks pregnancy for me.

CadoAvo · 26/03/2024 12:07

I'm 5+6 today so excited to be 6 weeks tomorrow. Phoned this morning to register with midwife team and gave some details and she said a midwife will phone me in the next week and then my actual appointment will be around 10 weeks. She asked me what hospital I want to give birth at and I was a bit thrown off 😅 just picked the one closest to me, not sure why I'd pick the others unless a problem came up down the line that required specialist care in a bigger hospital 😂 🤷🏽‍♀️

Oh bless you, I see why you're so thrown as to why the consultant wants to stop it.

Hi just wondering when everyone’s booking in app is? and their scan? I’m only 5 weeks just done my referral today

I’m 5 weeks 3 days and referred today also. I think in my area appointments are about the 9 week mark? I’ve got no idea how the booking of first 12 week scan works, whether you need to wait until first midwife appointment until they’ll do that or whether that happens separately…

omghavingababy · 26/03/2024 12:32

@Loz365 I don't know if you're still here but just caught up on days worth of messages I am so sorry and sending huge love xx

You're a day ahead of me according to my app 😊I'm going to the hospital closest to me.

I haven't heard back about booking appointment yet (it'll be a week tomorrow, so I called them quite early) I have a private scan booked for the 11th, when my app says I'll be 8 weeks exactly. Anyone else feeling impatient for a scan??

Elixabeth · 26/03/2024 12:37

@carlymarie24 It seems to vary a lot by area, but I had my booking appointment last week at 7+4 weeks. I got given my booking appointment and 12 week scan dates at the same time, a few days after I referred

CadoAvo · 26/03/2024 13:13

@Bratzy yep I'm impatient too! I also have private scan booked for 8 weeks exactly so appointment is 2 weeks tomorrow and just wishing the next 2 weeks would hurry up. Did you manage to tell your mum/babysitter dad yet?

mrssunshinexxx · 26/03/2024 13:17

Got my booking app in 15 mins Im 9+2

Riverstardust · 26/03/2024 13:34

Booking appointment at 10 weeks. Thought they had to do this earlier as there are tests etc that they want to do first!?

CadoAvo · 26/03/2024 13:39

@Bratzy ignore the babysitter dad lol, I meant babys dad 🤣

We probably all feel the same. Good luck for your scan!

I told baby's dad on Sunday and he was shocked, but said he wants to be in the baby's life. He actually text me not long ago saying he'd like to give a relationship a go again. I'm not sure what to do. The idea of being a little family is lovely, but I just want to do what's best for baby. I don't want to break up while our baby is here. So not sure if it's best to try again with him, or just co parent from the start. Maybe we can date while pregnant and see how it goes. I obviously do like him and very attracted to him. Just want to do right by baby.

I'm probably going to tell mum in the next couple of days. We're going away with family for easter holiday weekend, and will need help with excuses for not drinking etc. Sorry for the rant!!

🤣 love that

luc243 · 26/03/2024 13:52

@CadoAvo I had the same when my midwife rang me! Asking which hospital, and I was like 'umm, do I get a choice?!' 😂

UnravellingTheWorld · 26/03/2024 14:31

@carlymarie24 It varies by area. First time around mine was at 9 or 10 weeks, and my scan was over 14 weeks (thanks, covid).

I've moved now and new area does booking and scan together at 12 weeks. I only referred yesterday (I'm 7+5, maybe), so not heard yet. Feeling more nausea as time passes though!

carlymarie24 · 26/03/2024 12:22

Hi just wondering when everyone’s booking in app is? and their scan? I’m only 5 weeks just done my referral today

I got mine yesterday and have my booking appointment on 14 May and scan on 20 May.

I'll be 12 weeks for both!

Was quite surprised because last time I had my booking appointment at about 8 or 9 weeks.

For my last pregnancy my baby was due at the start of the month, but this one is due at the end. It's a very strange feeling to see posts saying they're 7-8 weeks pregnant already. That seems so far away for me at only 4+3! I'm not convinced I even realised I was pregnant this early last time!

luc243 · 26/03/2024 15:08

By my calculations on when I ovulated (which is about a week after I 'should have') then my booking appointment is 9+1 and my scan I think is at about 11+4. I think they have me a week ahead, as they asked the first day of my cycle but I'm almost 100% sure my cycle was longer this month as we were using clearblue ovulation tests and also BBT tracking!

My friend was just moaning about how skint she is on maternity leave and it’s made me really worry about our finances! Has anyone thought of how long you might want off yet?

I’m self employed so I’ll be lucky if I get an afternoon off! 🤦‍♀️😂
