Hello @SnookyPook @RoseH36 and @Fullofconfusion ! I don’t know if there’s anyone I’ve missed- feel free to add. Just thought it might be nice to have a new space as we’re all fairly similar gestation wise and we’ve been through a fair amount together in the previous thread x

Hello! Great idea, I always feel bad bringing it up in the TTC thread. Hope you're all doing well x

SnookyPook · 14/03/2024 10:44

@Bumblebee413 aw lovely idea - thanks! Like @RoseH36 I don't always feel appropriate bringing it up on the TTC thread.

@smilethrough hello and welcome! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm currently 18+3 and turned 38 last December. I also have a 3yr old DS (turned 35 just before he was born so similar age to you now - had a great pregnancy with him) 😊

smilethrough · 14/03/2024 10:54

@SnookyPook hi and thank you! I had my other children in my early 20s so being pregnant again mid 30s is a massive change for me! im so so so hoping everything goes well, im so nervous xx

hennie222 · 14/03/2024 11:24

Hello! Recognise some of you from the TTC thread. Congrats! I'm 39 and currently 19+3 (ish). It's been a wild ride so far.... Still waiting for that feeling great and glowing moment!

RoseH36 · 14/03/2024 15:57

@smilethrough @hennie222 welcome to you both 😊

Has anyone else been hit by extreme hunger? I didn't have this with DS but its torture. I've had it for a few weeks and it had settled a bit more over the last week but back with a vengeance today. I just can't eat enough to be full. I've had my usual porridge for breakfast, was starving again by 10 so had a couple of biscuits, jacket potato with cheese for lunch then crisps and an apple this afternoon.

A couple of weeks ago I went out for a carvery lunch, which should then keep me going for the rest of the day but nope! Two hours later I had a pizza and still needed toast before bed 🙈

Really hoping it settles after the 12 week mark but given that's next week I'm not feeling hopeful

smilethrough · 14/03/2024 16:00

I have been absolutely starving since saturday (8dpo) and i can’t stop myself either absolutely being a 🐷 i need to curb it x

hennie222 · 14/03/2024 16:48

Yes for the past 4 weeks. But also find I get cramps if I eat too much!!

Bumblebee413 · 14/03/2024 17:02

I’ve been stressing about this today! I’m absolutely piling on the kilos which I know shouldn’t be of concern at the moment, but it’s a little horrifying. Today I’ve eaten two bowls of cereal, toast, pasta, crackers and cheese, chocolates, strawberries and a macaron and I’ve got hours to go before bedtime. But it’s the nausea. I can’t bear it and eating seems to help.

I’m shattered too, so doing absolutely no exercise. I know I can lose weight and get back on track once baby is born, but I’m going to have such a lot to shift if I carry on at this rate!

I'm so relieved to hear its not just me, I just can't stop eating. Wondered if the progesterone had anything to do with it but guess not. I put on loads of weight with DS and worried I'll be worse this time if this doesn't ease up soon. Already in maternity jeans as my usual ones are digging in. My stomach looks enormous today from bloating.

SnookyPook · 14/03/2024 18:10

@RoseH36 yes I've been ravenous. My husband has started fondly referring to my eating habits as being quite Hobbit-like 😂 I too had a big bowl of porridge with fruit and yoghurt yesterday morning, then needed toasted hot cross buns around 10, a decent lunch, mid afternoon snack... Usually need a bowl of cereal before bed even though having a decent dinner. And they say you should only need 200kcal extra a day from the third trimester ..?!? Haha... Try telling my body that! Was the same with my DS and somehow remained mostly bump with him! Hoping for similar luck this time 😬😂

RoseH36 · 14/03/2024 18:30

@SnookyPook haha its a load of rubbish isn't it? Definitely need more than that. I've just had a burger king for tea, first time today I've felt full but now I feel uncomfortable and bloated so can't win. I guarantee in an hour I'll be hungry again 😆

MrsScotland · 15/03/2024 11:26

Hi!

I'm 6+3 and due on my 40th birthday! Having a scan next week with the EPU as I had a TFMR before and will get some extra care this time.

I am feeling low level nausea a lot, I don't think I really had this last time but I am wondering if it's because my HCG was low - an indicator of the Edwards Syndrome.

I am also very very hungry like most of you! I desperately want to lose 4-5lb before I get weighed as my BMI is borderline 35. I was 34.16 last time and told if BMI is under 35, I wouldn't be treated any differently for weight etc.

RoseH36 · 15/03/2024 14:58

@MrsScotland welcome! And welcome to the hunger club 😅 good luck with your scan next week, hope it all goes well x

Elixabeth · 15/03/2024 18:08

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining, I'm 35, 36 in August and 6+6 with my first x

smilethrough · 19/03/2024 14:29

hi everyone, as i said before im 35 and im currently 5+2. I have had little to no symptoms at all, apart from a pain in my left side (above my hip bone sort of) what do you think it could be? because i am so scared of ectopic pregnancy. I rang doctors for the 4th time no appointments, i rang epu they wont see me till im over 6 weeks, community midwives never available and there is no maternity unit in my local hospital. i feel so alone and scared. my bmi is high, ive had chemical pregnancy before this, and my age, i just feel like someone should be helping me and ive literally got nobody. every single little twinge i feel im terrified my tube is going to explode and im going to die. i have major anxiety in general and being pregnant its even worse. my doctors know all this about me yet are doing absolutely nothing i said to them dont you want to check my pregnancy or my hcg or proof my pregnancy they said no its ok we believe you. how can this be? I am absolutely terrified to the highest point of ectopic pregnancy because someone said maybe it could be that. there isnt even an a+e in my local hospital. i booked an early private scan for 8 weeks but im scared if its something bad then ill know before then and it will just wreck me and everything we have planned for our future its my partners first baby after 3 losses and im so terrified something bad is going to happen and this will be a 4th for him. im constantly checking to see if im bleeding. anxiety is through the roof im sorru i sound crazy here, and i should calm down but its so bloody hard with risk factors.. i havent been pregnant since in my mid 20s (with a viable pregnancy) so im scared, any reassurance or just a hug please 😔 xxx

RoseH36 · 19/03/2024 18:06

@smilethrough totally understand your concerns and feel your frustration with it feeling like no one is doing anything. If you look at signs of ectopic pregnancy it includes bleeding, brown discharge and pain in the tip of your shoulder. It's very unlikely to be that from what you've said. When I went in last year with bleeding I kept being asked if I had any pain in my shoulder as that's the most common sign, which I never knew until then.

As you've not been pregnant for so long it could just be ligaments stretching and doing there job. I had SPD in my first pregnancy and have felt the familiar twinges since early on in this one. One of my symptoms is discomfort around my hips so you could be experiencing something similar.

The best thing you can do, and I know it's easier said than done, is to stay calm as you and baby don't need extra stress and anxiety as that's not going to help.

If you're 5+2 and epu will see you after 6 weeks then just sit tight until next week and call them, it's not long to wait until then, you've got this! 😊

Bumblebee413 · 19/03/2024 18:58

Welcome everyone! @smilethrough this is exactly the place to bring crazy- you’re in good company 😊

I’m so sorry that you’re feeling so worried and that no-one is helping you. That must be incredibly worrying and lonely. A lot of EPUs don’t see people before 6 weeks because there can be huge variations in baby sizes on scans and most of the time the answer is to wait a few days until you’re further on and then to come back. Ectopic pregnancies are rarely dangerous prior to 6 weeks too and depending on the size of your baby they may not be able to find them on scan at this point, so could give you false reassurance that it isn’t one or worry you more because they can’t see anything. I know typically you should be able to see something at 5 weeks, but babies vary so very much in size at that point and completely normally too, that it can be the case.

If it helps, with both of my pregnancies one of my earliest symptoms was a sharp, shooting pain just between my hip bone and above my pubic bone, on one side only. Both times I was really wondering whether it was an ectopic, particularly because this time is was sharper, more to a pattern to it and because it lasted around 48 hours. Both times I had no bleeding and it didn’t quite reach the point where I thought I had to get help. But I have quite a high bar for getting help in any form which is problematic on many levels and not a positive thing either for health or general mental well being 😂

So, just to say that it can be completely normal and a good thing too- I think with me it was the placentas burrowing in for the long haul. You’re not alone and you’ve got this. Risk factors are a really good thing for you to have an idea about, as it’s your body, but they aren’t predictive. You could have ten risk factors and have a perfectly healthy pregnancy and smooth birth. You could have none and things go off course. You are the expert in your body and your body has done this before. X

thank you @Bumblebee413 the pain in my side has disappeared but i just have belly ache now like a belly ache down low like in uterus area. maybe its just gearing up and stretching well thats what i hope any way. any slight teinge and i panic. i wasnt like this with my pregnancies in my 20s! i have an aching shoulder now.. and panicking again. i feel so stupid x thanks so much for your message x

RoseH36 · 20/03/2024 13:03

Feeling quite down and emotional today. The whole feeling hungry all the time thing is really getting me down, I'm fed up of hardly ever feeling full. Really hope it eases off. On the countdown to coming off progesterone (a week on Saturday) so if that's contributed to anything then hopefully that will help.

Hope everyone else is OK.

Bumblebee413 · 20/03/2024 20:57

@smilethrough I’m glad you’re feeling better x

@RoseH36 so close with the progesterone! It’s ok to be down- I keep having down moments then realise that actually I’ve not felt myself for several weeks solid. At times I’ve felt pretty damn rubbish too. All whilst carrying all the emotions that you have to juggle in early pregnancy. We’re carrying a lot x

I’m tired of feeling sick because I need to eat and feeling sick because I have done nothing but eat. I think mine might be considering easing. It wonders about it a bit first thing, then sets back in with a vengeance for the rest of the day. But a slight improvement feels promising.

I’ve finally got my scan tomorrow so hoping for good news. Currently 12+2, due 30th September. Let’s see what numbers I have tomorrow 😄

RoseH36 · 20/03/2024 21:38

@Bumblebee413 good luck for tomorrow. Yours sounds just like mine, it's eased off a bit in the morning but as the day wears on it just gets worse then by the evenings I just feel like utter crap. There are days I wish I didn't have to eat as once I start eating it's like it triggers it off and there's no stopping it. You're totally right though, we are dealing with a lot of emotions, given our histories those emotions are heightened more than they would be normally so we should probably cut ourselves some slack. I've definitely not felt like myself for weeks. Here's hoping this phase ends soon and 2nd trimester is a little kinder 🙏

SnookyPook · 20/03/2024 23:04

@Bumblebee413 ooh good luck for tomorrow! 💕

@RoseH36 that's really tough. But yes, emotions are extra high aren't they given what we've been through to get here.

@smilethrough I hope you're doing ok. My last loss before this pregnancy was a pregnancy of unknown location/query ectopic and it was so scary. When I then fell pregnant again I was on tenterhooks and conjuring up shoulder pains and all sorts... Was so relieved when early scan showed little one in the right place. Anyway, you don't sound crazy to this particular audience. We all get it. And that first trimester after losses is particularly tough. I'm almost at 20wks now (!!) and still have moments where I struggle with it all, though can provide reassurance that the nerves do settle down the further along you get! Just take it one day at a time and try and find things to enjoy/celebrate about where you are Right Now. 💕

I have been SOooo mega hormonal today. I started the day with an absolute rage and then I've been alternating between snapping at people and bursting into tears all day. I feel so unbalanced and crazy. It's not been a pleasant day. Hoping this isn't my new norm!! I think my hubby was wondering if I need sectioning earlier 😂😩😂

Bamboo2512 · 21/03/2024 07:00

I'm 35 and 9weeks pregnant with my second, i will be 36 when baby is born. My first born will be 13 2 months after baby is born so a large age gap. Honestly thought I was done at 2, kept saying il be 41 with an 18 year old and alot more freedom to myself etc

Not planned but very happy. I had been feel exhausted the past few weeks so work knew as there was just no hiding it, must have gained what feels like 5 stone already through constant eating!

For the past 5 days I've felt much better though, all my symptoms have gone so didn't realise how bad I was feeling until now. Am slightly worried with disappearance of symptoms but I know it can be normal
