Hello @SnookyPook @RoseH36 and @Fullofconfusion ! I don’t know if there’s anyone I’ve missed- feel free to add. Just thought it might be nice to have a new space as we’re all fairly similar gestation wise and we’ve been through a fair amount together in the previous thread x

Baby is fine and was waving to us 🥰

@Luluem welcome! Haha it definitely does know what's needed, just makes me laugh when we're told no extra calories are required when that's clearly not the case for so many of us.

SnookyPook · 03/04/2024 13:00

@RoseH36 fantastic! I'm so glad! 🥰 How many weeks are you now? X

RoseH36 · 03/04/2024 13:18

@SnookyPook thank you 😊 14+3

Bumblebee413 · 04/04/2024 10:34

Hello @Luluem !

@RoseH36 that’s such fantastic news- love a little wave! 🥰

My GTT results are back and I’ve passed the first test- no diabetes yet!! 🥳 so relieved. May that also be the case at 28/40 🙌🏼

Oh fab @Bumblebee413 !

RoseH36 · 04/04/2024 14:06

@Bumblebee413 thank you, DS never waved on any scans so was lovely to see from this one 😀

Great news on your test. I'm picking up a testing kit tomorrow, called them today and asked for an appointment.

SnookyPook · 05/04/2024 08:29

@MogMogMog85 some of us here are 'graduates' of the other +35 thread and most (all?!) have also been through loss before. 💕

CurlyWurly1991 · 05/04/2024 10:13

@Bumblebee413 great news on the GTT results!!

Is there anything I should/shouldn’t be doing to avoid GD? I know it’s more common in older mothers. I didn’t have it in my first pregnancy but was mid 20s then.

I’m a little over 6 weeks and so blimmin tired. If I give in to it I could easily lie in bed all day feeling rotten. I’m off work this week but have to travel and be busy next week and have no idea how I’m going to manage it. Walking a delicate balance with nausea/heartburn and trying to learn best foods for me. I tend to feel worse as the day goes on.

RoseH36 · 05/04/2024 13:58

@CurlyWurly1991 there isn't really anything you can do. It's all to do with hormones so not linked to diet/exercise at all.

@Bumblebee413 got myself a diabetes kit today so can start testing. Declined the GTT as I said I'm convinced I have it. Told to eat normally over the weekend and see what my results are like. Had a sandwich, crisps and 2 chocolate biscuits for lunch.... 8.8 reading! Knew it would be high as my heart is racing and I feel rubbish.

Bumblebee413 · 05/04/2024 19:08

Well done for getting yourself sorted @RoseH36. I really don’t want it again this time but I do keep thinking ‘At least I know I can do it’ and it would be familiar this time, rather than the daunting straw that broke my mental health last time. Damn Covid pregnancy…!😂

@CurlyWurly1991 Rose is right- there isn’t too much you can do unfortunately and if it does pop up it isn’t any reflection on you or your diet. I keep being told to maintain a healthy, balanced diet and treat carbs and sugar with caution. I have the heart to tell them those food groups are 90% of my current diet…. The other 10% being dairy. I’m about as constipated as you’d imagine 🙊

@Bumblebee413 that's what I keep telling myself too although it will feel a harder slog this time, I was 30 weeks when I was diagnosed last time. My evening meal was 5.6 but I remember last time my evening meals weren't much of an issue, we use a lot of Pinch of Nom recipes and they all seemed great. Having a takeaway tomorrow night so that could be interesting!

That's definitely the key thing for anyone who gets it, don't blame yourself. I did initially until I read it wasn't anything I'd done wrong. I'd been convinced it was because I'd eaten too many mince pies to start with as it was Christmas 😂

Bumblebee413 · 06/04/2024 07:40

Well now I want a mince pie… 😆

feeling pessimistic today. Last time with the MMC it was about this time that the baby stopped developing. I feel similar to last time. I really don’t know how I’m going to get through this, it’s so anxiety inducing going through pregnancy after loss. How the hell fo others manage it? Hard to stay distracted when I’m so tired and anti social I just want to hibernate until it’s all over.

SnookyPook · 08/04/2024 16:58

@CurlyWurly1991 sending a big hug. Its exhausting and draining isn't it. Have you any appointments/scans coming up in the near future? Just remember, this is a fresh pregnancy with every chance of a different outcome ❤️ Unfortunately there is no easy way through. Just keep going one day at a time. X

RoseH36 · 08/04/2024 19:42

@Bumblebee413 haha sorry 😆

@CurlyWurly1991 I didn't realise you'd got this far through last time 😪 I think as Snooky said just remember this is a new pregnancy so there's no reason for that to happen again. Was going to ask the same thing as Snooky about scans. Sending you lots of positivity.

Been officially diagnosed with gestational diabetes too. Had several high readings over the weekend. Just had pizza for tea and got 9.1. Feel quite unwell from it. Shopping on Wednesday so time to stock up on more friendly foods.

CurlyWurly1991 · 08/04/2024 21:17

Oh @RoseH36 I’m sorry to hear that about the GD and not feeling good. Are you being provided a plan?

I was almost 8 weeks when I found out about my MMC, baby stopped growing around 6w2d. Coming up to 7w now, no idea what’s going on in there. I’m reluctant to go for another private scan honestly my experience last time was so bad, I don’t feel safe unless an nhs hospital. I guess if I had a major loss of symptoms or spotting I would call the EPU. I don’t know if it would just fuel my anxiety though to have multiple scans because they are just a snapshot in time… nothing can really change that outcome either way… it’s in the hands of the gods basically, isn’t it.

RoseH36 · 08/04/2024 21:39

@CurlyWurly1991 thank you, feels like there's a lot to take in again. They are sending me some leaflets but have referred me to the gestational diabetes website and Facebook groups that I'd already rejoined when I was starting to feel like I had it.

It is really hard not to worry. I was around 7 weeks when I had my mmc so getting past that stage this time felt like a huge milestone. I do get what you mean about the scans though, the early ones I've had this time have been reassuring but then the worry kicks in again after a few days. Although with each one I've had that worry has now started easing off. Got my final reassurance one this Friday with epau before I'll no longer be under their care. Will be keeping everything crossed for you and just remember that how you feel is totally normal. You could always call your epu in a couple of weeks and see if they'll see you so you're not left wondering until 12 weeks.

CurlyWurly1991 · 09/04/2024 08:30

@RoseH36 from what I’ve heard about GD it’s nothing you have done and can be managed with the advice… I hope you are feeling OK about it. Isn’t it one of the other things us slightly older mums have to deal with… ugh xx

MrsScotland · 09/04/2024 09:17

I've got to 10 weeks today and have a scan this afternoon. As long as I'm measuring 10 weeks I'll be given a NIPT.

Really really nervous we'll go in and baby doesn't have a heartbeat - had a scan at 7 weeks and it was all ok but 3 weeks feels like a long time.

Last time we had private scans at 9 and 11 weeks but got to 12 weeks and the baby had a NT of 8mm and it all unravelled from there until we had to TFMR for T18 (Edwards Syndrome).

I am so so scared it's going to be T21 this time, because I'm 39.

Should have the results of the NIPT next Monday afternoon, it's going to be a long wait x

SnookyPook · 09/04/2024 09:51

@MrsScotland sending a hand hold. These moments are so nerve-wracking but hopefully all is absolutely fine with little one. Also, so many older Mums have perfectly healthy babies - try not to worry ahead of time. I'm 38 and was low risk 🙏🏼💕 Let us know how you get on.

@RoseH36 sorry you got the confirmation but at least you know for sure now and can act accordingly. Hope it won't cause too much faff for you. ❤️

Eurgh these early days where you are so conscious of all the little milestones etc are so so hard and tiring. Just keep going one day at a time and remember this is a whole new pregnancy with every chance of a different outcome. I had scans every two weeks from 6wks with EPU and was absolutely terrified each time. As you say, the relief is also relatively short-lived but it was comforting at the time to know 'at least we've made it X far'. I did find passing the dates of when the MMC had stopped developing and also where I found out about the MMC to be particularly helpful personally as it was comforting to know this one had made it further. Still no guarantee of course but the odds of loss do massively drop after a heartbeat is seen after 8wks. It might be worth calling your EPU to discuss your anxiety and they may offer a scan... Some places are better and more compassionate than others I think! Ultimately all we can do is keep plodding on day-by-day and hoping for the best. 💕

CurlyWurly1991 · 09/04/2024 09:59

Thanks @SnookyPook I think if I can hold out until my booking appointment at 8+3 I will mention it to the midwife, thank you. I had a sleepless night worrying about things and am now away with work for a few days. Just need to keep my mind off it I think.

CurlyWurly1991 · 09/04/2024 10:00

@MrsScotland sending you calming vibes for the scan… that must be very nervewracking after what you have been through. I hope you get positive news and it is all reassuring xxx

RoseH36 · 09/04/2024 17:17

@CurlyWurly1991 @SnookyPook thank you, I had it last time but not until 30 weeks so feels like a long road ahead. Just so unpredictable, had the same lunch yesterday and today. Yesterday's was a great reading but today's was high. I'm not sure if it's more common in older mom's or not, it's all hormone related.

@MrsScotland hope today has gone well for you.

MrsScotland · 10/04/2024 08:50

Thank you for your well wishes, it was great. Everything looking like it should be at this stage, baby did a big stretch and some kicks which was just so lovely to see. Send off the NIPT bloods and should have the results back at the start of next week. I think we will be able to relax a bit after that x
