Hello @SnookyPook @RoseH36 and @Fullofconfusion ! I don’t know if there’s anyone I’ve missed- feel free to add. Just thought it might be nice to have a new space as we’re all fairly similar gestation wise and we’ve been through a fair amount together in the previous thread x

Hello! I’m 36 next month and 14 weeks with surprise DCDA twins. My first is 2. I’m flipping exhausted! Made it back to the gym for the first time in nearly two months but only managing once a week at the moment. Hoping to get a second session in but it’s so bloody exhausting! My midwife said our hospital runs pregnancy yoga so might try that. I’m starting to feel really huge in the tummy area (tbh it wasn’t exactly small before!) but my jeans still fit with space and I haven’t gained much weight at all, maybe a pound or two (unless you count the 5kg I gained after my miscarriage last year 😭) so I’m finding it all confusing. I hold all my weight round my middle anyway - lucky me! - so it’s hard to tell. I’m definitely a ball of hormones though.

RoseH36 · 21/03/2024 12:07

@SnookyPook hope you're feeling less hormonal today, horrible when you feel you have no control over your feelings at all. Getting to the half way mark must be a great feeling. Won't be long now until you start feeling baby move will it? Can't remember at what stage that happens.

@Bamboo2512 welcome! Hopefully everything has settled for you now, I've been trying to ignore the hunger feelings today as best as I can, much easier said than done though. I'll be 38 when this one is born.

Can't wait to get my scan done tomorrow so I can start telling people. A friend has asked if I want to join her at a playgroup next week but I've been starting to get discomfort like SPD starting this week so wouldn't manage sitting on the floor for a couple of hours.

smilethrough · 21/03/2024 16:21

ah thank you. I think I am just hyper aware of everything because i want it so much. i hope to god baby is in the right place but i cant shake the feeling. i wish they wouldnt leave us till its to late for us to find out if baby is right or wrong place i think maybe a 6 week scan should be offered to everyone to just check location 🩷 anyway, i have a midwife now so im going to mention to her how im feeling and maybe i can get some help.. id just rather know now if something is wrong because i dont want to feel liek this until i have my early scan (booked for 13th april at 8+5) i just so hope everything is ok. i have no symptoms at all, apart from the odd pain under my ribs or in my side (both on the same side) i have both if the pains every day.. they arent unbearable - but not very nice either. just wish i could know x

SnookyPook · 21/03/2024 17:13

Welcome @Bamboo2512 and @Allicit ! Aw surprise pregnancies and twins! Lots to get your heads around! 😃🥰

@RoseH36 I'm pretty sure I've felt convincing movements the last few days but still finding it very surreal and not quite believing it! Hoping I feel more convinced by them ahead of my 20wk scan so it's a bit less nerve-wracking going in!

RoseH36 · 21/03/2024 19:00

@Bumblebee413 how did you get on today?

@SnookyPook oh I hope so, everything feels more real at that point doesn't it?

@smilethrough I totally agree, I think 12 weeks is a really long time to wait to find out what's going on and if things are alright. Definitely worth asking them to see if you can be seen early, I'd have been a wreck without an early scan, 7 weeks was the earliest they'd scan me at my trust.

RoseH36 · 22/03/2024 11:53

Back from my 12 week scan, a milestone I wasn't sure I'd ever get to again so can finally start to feel a bit excited. Measuring slightly ahead at 12+5 so end of September due date.

SnookyPook · 22/03/2024 11:59

Ah @RoseH36 that's awesome news! Congrats! A big milestone indeed! 🥰 Nice to be measuring ahead too! End of Sept is a nice birthday time 😊 Do you think you'll get any private scans before the 20wk one now? I've held out but definitely getting impatient now!

RoseH36 · 22/03/2024 12:15

@SnookyPook thank you. Haha well I've just left a message for epau to see if I can get one last reassurance scan 😅 they'll see me up to 16 weeks then triage take over although by that point I think I'll be ok with things. A September birthday will be lovely, not got any others that month so that'll be nice.

SnookyPook · 22/03/2024 12:21

To be fair, I did end up with a scan at 14wks due to a bleed - not ideal but given that the outcome was positive, it was really lovely seeing baby again and also getting confirmation that the placenta had developed well etc. Between that and the Doppler at my 16wks I got a lot of reassurance. Since then time has sped up a bit now. I think I'll maybe ask for another listen in with the Doppler pre-scan but growing bump and likely movements being felt have also majorly helped!

RoseH36 · 22/03/2024 17:48

@SnookyPook it is always nice to see baby again. It still fascinates me how small it is yet so lively and already looks like a proper baby. I'm sure they do the copper much later on now, I thought we had it at 12 weeks last time. Got my 16 week midwife appointment booked in as well as a final reassurance scan and the 20 week one so starting to feel much more real now.

muddlingthrou · 22/03/2024 18:16

Hi, hoping I can join 👋🏽 I'm 36 and just over seven weeks with my second IVF baby. Pregnancy sickness is totally kicking my ass, and the first meds I was prescribed didn't make a dent. I just got a different prescription but the two pharmacies near me are both out of stock so need to survive until tomorrow 😩

Bumblebee413 · 22/03/2024 18:35

Hello @muddlingthrou @Allicit and @Bamboo2512! Very exciting pregnancies! Twins, a surprise and an IVF baby 🥰 Welcome x

I had my scan yesterday and there was actually a baby in there! They were trying their hardest to sleep and definitely didn’t appreciate the scan! My husband didn’t see a single scan with my daughter as it was Covid, so it was our first together and it was really special. I think I’m actually believing that this is going to happen, so I’ve developed a bump overnight 😂 Bodies are weird!

Thank you for asking after me @RoseH36 , I’m so happy to hear that your scan went well after this last year x You’ve overtaken me- my due date is the 1st October x

mrsed1987 · 22/03/2024 18:44

Ahh congratulations everyone. I'm 36 and nearly 37 weeks with my second.

It's been an interesting one, considered high risk due to my BMI and age, then I got gestational diabetes also 🙄 I've managed to keep it at bay with diet so my consultant agreed yesturday I could give birth in the midwife led centre in the pool 🙂

RoseH36 · 23/03/2024 08:02

@Bumblebee413 oh I'm so happy for you!! That's the update I've been waiting for 🥰 so lovely he got to be there this time, I can't imagine how hard that must have been first time going to things like that alone. My son was born 3 weeks before the first lockdown. Still very close in due date! Bodies are weird aren't they? I've definitely got a bit if a bump so have been having to try and hide it. Doesn't help I had a hernia after my son so the area above my belly button has never gone back to being flat but definitely looks more pronounced.

@mrsed1987 welcome and so lovely to hear you're coming to the end of your journey. I had GD in my first too, diagnosed at 30 weeks, on Christmas Eve of all days! I needed metmorfin so we'll done staying diet controlled, it was the morning ones I couldn't control. Waiting on an appointment from the team to start testing again, second time round they make you do 5 days of finger prick tests rather than the drink thing. I wouldn't be surprised if I have it and do wonder if its part of the reason I feel so crap by the evening. Trying to make adjustments to my diet already just in case. Hope you get your water birth, it was the one thing I really wanted but couldn't have.

H20202 · 23/03/2024 08:33

@smilethrough hopefully you’re feeling better now? Is it possible to get a 6 week scan instead of waiting until 8? Just to put your mind at ease?

pains occur all over the pelvis in early pregnancy plus bowel pain from digestive tract slowing down due to hormones. Trapped wind is a big one for me and feels very tight and uncomfortable.

if it’s reassuring the pain from my ectopic was quite severe, and it came with red bleeding and lower back pain. I also got shooting pains around my bum. Neither sitting or standing was comfortable, there was kind of no doubt I needed to go the hospital. I got symptoms at 5w2d and began bleeding a day or so later.

——
also just a note to say bleeding and pain is the most common symptom of ectopic pregnancy - shoulder pain is not and often people only feel that if there has been a rupture and the fluid/blood is aggravating nerves.

xx

Hi 👋
lots of familiar names here…

@Bumblebee413 @RoseH36 Congratulations on your lovely scan news!!

I’m between 4-5 weeks and was on the 35+ conception thread. Very tentatively joining. Nervous about calling the GP and being referred to community midwife. Had a MMC found at 8 weeks last time, baby stopped developing 6-7 weeks. I had covid and suspected my high temp was part of the cause. This time I’m thinking - well if covid caused it last time then this could be a mc for genetic reasons … need to try and reframe - today I am pregnant !
Feeling generally ok so far although fatigued, with the odd wave of nausea. Hope everyone has something nice to look forward to over the weekend?

SnookyPook · 23/03/2024 09:07

@Bumblebee413 yay! Great news about your scan! Aw my DS was a lockdown baby too! At the 12wk scan for this one I couldn't initially work out what felt strange and then I said to my DH - "all the dads are here!" It was so lovely to have him with me rather than having to run out to the car park to update him!!

@CurlyWurly1991 so lovely to have you join us. Absolutely get those nerves. My first weeks I just couldn't quite get my head around it or let myself believe it was happening. But your mantra, 'today I am pregnant' is spot on! The days will creep along and before you know it you will have past those scary milestones 🥰🙏🏼🌈

Welcome to new joiners! X

RoseH36 · 23/03/2024 13:38

@CurlyWurly1991 thank you and congratulations!! I think I've missed your news with the thread getting full. I've not been on as often lately.kwepivg everything crossed this is your time too. I know what you mean, I was nervous about calling them too. I waited around 6 weeks before I called.

smilethrough · 23/03/2024 17:00

hiya everyone 😊 @H20202 im not feeling anything that is severe, im 5+6 today (i think) so 6 weeks tomorrow and starting to feel a tiny bit more hopeful. fatigue is absolutely kicking my butt, i slept for 12 hours last night got up at 9 and was asleep again by 10, slept for another hour went to sleep again at 2 and ive just woke up 2 hours later, i cannot believe how zapped I feel. Im starting to tell myself okay my symptoms are starting to match up with what could possibly be going on this week so maybe its not ectopic, every day that goes by is like another marker to say ok it probably isnt.. i think ok maybe a 6 week embryo would have burst the tube by now?! ah its crazy how i think this time around to how i felt when i had a babe im my 20s cautious beyond belief.. thank you so much everyone for so much help and reassurance. Last night i felt a bit nauseous - my nipples are sore and im just tired beyond tired, i just want to cry all the time im that tired.. im trying to be hopeful.. i have a midwife assigned to me now, and also my 12 week scan came through the post for the 8th may, 8 week 5 day private scan booked for 8+5 if some of you dint know.. all i want to see is its in the right place and has a heartbeat, nervous and scared is an understatement that i wont see those things xx

RoseH36 · 23/03/2024 20:32

@smilethrough everything you're feeling sounds like usual pregnancy symptoms so hopefully that's really good. I'm glad you've got your first couple of appointments booked in. Hope the weeks fly by for you.

My SPD has really kicked in this week and I'm struggling already. Did an escape room earlier and just being on my feet foe an hour has left me in so much discomfort this evening. We've got a holiday booked to Spain in May that I'm going to look into cancelling next week as there's no way I'll manage..I think all the standing around in queues at the airport would finish me off before even getting to the hotel.

CurlyWurly1991 · 23/03/2024 21:06

Aww @RoseH36 I really feel for you with the SPD. I had it too first time and it is really rough. I’m sorry you might have to cancel your holiday, but with SPD it’s just so easy to push too hard and then be done in for days. We have two holidays coming up - one when I will (hopefully) be 13 weeks and another (hopefully!) 22 weeks. I worry about whether I will feel up to either. Wouldn’t get much money back if we cancelled… I guess I need to keep the bigger picture in mind 👶

RoseH36 · 23/03/2024 21:16

@CurlyWurly1991 it's horrible isn't it? I've honestly wondered if something was wrong with baby tonight but I know it's just SPD as if I'm still and resting I'm ok, it's just moving around it's really uncomfortable. In bed watching TV now so I'm a lot more comfortable. I hope you manage to get away for yours. The bigger picture is the thing to focus on, I'm grateful to be having a second and that's so much more important than missing out on a holiday x

LiIacMoon · 23/03/2024 23:23

Hi all, 38 here expecting my first baby.
I'm currently 23 weeks

CurlyWurly1991 · 25/03/2024 11:35

Welcome @LiIacMoon how has your pregnancy been going so far?

@RoseH36 is there anything you are finding helpful
for the spd? I am keen to avoid it getting bad this time. I swim and have already stopped breaststroke. Last time I remember having difficulties with longer walks or standing too long by 20 weeks. Luckily I am in a different job now where periods I need to stand are kept to a minimum.

I have called the GP today and registered with the community midwife so waiting for a callback to schedule the booking appointment.

I had covid last time and didn’t get a jab, I know pregnant women were eligible over the winter but looks like those aren’t happening any more?

RoseH36 · 25/03/2024 17:07

@CurlyWurly1991 just resting so far but its not a constant thing yet. I've been sleeping with a cushion between my legs at night and avoiding sitting on the floor to play with DS, having to get creative with ways we can play things sat on the sofa. He's been quite understanding and seems to get that I can't sit on the floor with him, or not for very long if I do. Walks and standing too long were things I couldn't manage either. I was signed off work for ages and then officially went on maternity leave early at 29 weeks as I just couldn't manage anymore, I was a reception teacher at the time. It's just a really debilitating condition isn't it?

I think they may have stopped the covid jabs, they've not been mentioned to me at any point so far, only been asked if I've had a flu jab, which I did in November. That's something I've been paying for myself ever since having DS.
