Hello @SnookyPook @RoseH36 and @Fullofconfusion ! I don’t know if there’s anyone I’ve missed- feel free to add. Just thought it might be nice to have a new space as we’re all fairly similar gestation wise and we’ve been through a fair amount together in the previous thread x

@MrsScotland fantastic news! 🥰 Hope the NIPT comes back quickly for you too. Will you be finding out baby's sex? X

MrsScotland · 10/04/2024 11:40

Hi Snooky

Sex isn't offered on the NHS test in my area, but I think we want a surprise anyway!

RoseH36 · 10/04/2024 18:45

@MrsScotland fantastic news! So pleased for you. With each scan you'll find you relax a little more.

CurlyWurly1991 · 10/04/2024 20:05

@MrsScotland lovely news 💕 congratulations !!

Bumblebee413 · 15/04/2024 19:17

Hi all, can I join you?
I'm 35 and 9 weeks today with baby number 2, had an early pregnancy loss last year so feeling cautious like lots of you.
We had a private scan at 7+3 where it was lovely to see a little heartbeat (I wanted to hold out until 8+ but just couldn't hold on any longer!)

The reassurance is starting to wear off now but my midwifery team rang today and were able to offer me an earlier booking appointment so I've got that to look forward to next week now.

No sign of a dating scan appointment yet.
I also had GD in the latter half of my first pregnancy, I am dreading having it again, know it probably will happen sooner or later!

Fullofconfusion · 15/04/2024 20:09

I’ve just found this thread!!

@Bumblebee413 thank you so much for creating it, I was thinking a little update thread for those that had fallen pregnant from the TTC thread would be lovely. No idea how I missed the tag. But I’m here now!

I’m now 12+5 according to my scan last week so EDD is 24/10/24. Very exciting!! I did think I was further along initially and still thought they’d say I was a week further on this scan but I’m just obviously rubbish with dates! I’m now anxiously waiting the combined screening results.

I’m also having a really rough time at the moment as I’ve managed to get shingles! I’ve never been in so much pain before other than childbirth. I’ve cried half the weekend. I think it doesn’t help and I’ve managed to get shingles in my groin so it runs right along the crease of my leg (where most of the blisters currently are) and extends right up my bum crack and across the cheek and towards my rather delicate lady bits…sorry for the TMI. There’s no let up so I’m currently feeling incredibly sorry for myself.

how is everyone else doing? So lovely to see some familiar names :-)

SnookyPook · 16/04/2024 00:43

@Fullofconfusion so glad you found us! Great that scan went well! If you've not heard back from combined screening yet hopefully that is good news? In my Trust they ring within 3 business days of high risk, otherwise it's a letter within 2 weeks. So sorry to hear about your shingles though!! That sounds bloody awful!! Hope it clears up quickly for you!! Is there any (pregnancy friendly..?!) treatment/soothing lotion etc?

@SouthwestSis welcome! So glad you've joined us. Glad you've got an appointment to look forward to. Getting through the Booking is a pleasing milestone to pass and makes it all feels more real I think.

@Bumblebee413 thanks for asking lovely. I'm ok. I popped for a listen in this morning with my midwife base as I woke last night and couldn't feel little man and got in a bit of a bad state. Don't think it was a coincidence that someone in my due date group had had bad news and it was also the anniversary of finding out about my MMC last year... So a number of factors compounded. Thankfully little man was sounding good (he was hiding though initially which explained it a bit!!). 23wks now!! Almost at viability... 🤞🏼💕

Hope everyone else is ok? My hubby is on night shifts this week and I fell asleep with my toddler at bedtime 😂 just woken up so going to let the dog out and then get back to bed! X

Fullofconfusion · 16/04/2024 07:58

@SnookyPook scan was Thursday so today will be 3 working days. I was told the same thing so hoping for no phone calls today!

I can use calamine lotion, which does not a lot. And then pain relief but obviously have to be careful what I use. I’ve had to resort to small doses of codeine as it’s so painful.

Sorry you had a stressful time this morning, glad you got the reassurance of listening to baby. I’m looking forward to the stage when i can feel them move for reassurance

RoseH36 · 17/04/2024 07:11

@SouthwestSis lovely to see you on here amd great you've seen a heartbeat 💓. My dating appointment wasn't booked until I'd had my booking appointment so possible it will be the same for you. If they don't offer you early testing for GD chase it yourself. No idea when mine would have been if I hadn't asked for one due to feeling unwell.

@Fullofconfusion lovely to see you here too, looks like a good year for many if us from the TTC thread. Your shingles sounds horrendous, such an awful area to develop it in, hope it goes soon for you. The dates from my scan changed at every one until the dating one, they still don't match up with where I put myself but guess all of it is just estimates really, baby will appear when ready.

@SnookyPook hope you're ok now. It's hard when you've got lots on your mind on top of what is an emotional journey as it is.

I'm now 16+3. Had my first midwife appointment yesterday, I'm sure those are shorter than they used to be, was only there about 10 minutes. She's very kindly writing us a letter to say I won't be fit to fly due to SPD so I can then cancel our holiday. Having to swap a week in Spain for 3 nights in a caravan in Wales 😂. At least then it's closer so if I struggle we can just come home.

Mostly managing to control my bloods at the moment too, only spiked twice in the last week, one was a given as we were out for a pub lunch.

Fullofconfusion · 17/04/2024 09:37

Unfortunately I had a call from the hospital yesterday. Baby’s screening has come back as higher risk. I’m trying very hard not to panic. Everything looked fine on scan and as an older mum I knew it would be a possibility.

Going for a NIPT today. Not the added stressed I needed but I’m trying to remain positive. 13 weeks today

@RoseH36 i got SPD badly last pregnancy so I’m on the look out for signs this time around. I also have a holiday booked for next month so I’m hopeful that it stays at bay until at least after that! It didn’t kick in until the 2nd half of my last pregnancy

SnookyPook · 17/04/2024 09:49

@Fullofconfusion oh sorry to hear that lovely. Not what you need when already a bit anxious is it. I'm sure everything will be fine though. I've heard of so many where the combined screening was higher risk and then the NIPT was normal. Think they're normally quite quick too? Did they give you any numbers? Sending a hug xxx

SnookyPook · 17/04/2024 09:50

@Fullofconfusion definitely a good sign that NT was normal range 💕

No. My badger app shows that the test was taken but no results published. I don’t know if there’s a fault with it. I’m going to ask today.
NT was 2.1 so that is within the “normal” range.

I'm just keeping everything crossed and trying not to panic

SnookyPook · 17/04/2024 10:20

@Fullofconfusion yes not panicking is important but so hard!! So much waiting around isn't there. Hopefully they can give you a bit more breakdown of it all today. It's just horrible when you're hoping to come out of the scan all reassured and something happens that throws you. That's how I've been since my 20wk with the growth concerns. It's been a long wait to our foetal medicine referral. Finally almost there now (next Mon) and I'm just so hoping little man has had a good growth spurt in between. Let us know how you get on today and I'll keep everything crossed that you get great reassurance from the NIPT. 💗

Fullofconfusion · 17/04/2024 11:54

@SnookyPook I hope your appointment on Monday goes well. Hopefully your little one is just taking his time growing to make sure he does a good job of it!

midwife I saw this morning was lovely and very reassuring. I now have a full breakdown of my test.

NT 2.1
hCGb 1.26 (normal range is 1.0-2.0)
PAPP-A 0.49 (normal range is above 0.4)

so I’m in the normal ranges but on the long lower end and I think my age has played a factor.

Now I need to try not to think about it until the results come back in a week!

SnookyPook · 17/04/2024 12:35

@Fullofconfusion ah that's great and I'm glad she was reassuring about it all. Your results look decent then don't they. From what I've seen online, most of the concern seems to be when figures are vastly swayed to one extreme or the other and NT above 4/5. Fingers crossed everything is just fine and dandy 🙏🏼💕

excitedmama2be · 17/04/2024 13:19

Hey fellow 35 year old
currently 24 weeks pregnant

CurlyWurly1991 · 17/04/2024 15:27

@Fullofconfusion I’m sorry to hear you are having to go through that with the high risk business. I think I’ll be flagged too due to age. Do you mind me asking is the NIPT being completed by hospital based on your results? Or is it something you’re doing privately?

RoseH36 · 17/04/2024 16:01

@Fullofconfusion sorry to hear you're higher risk, trying not to panic is definitely the right thing to do, it may not necessarily mean anything bad. None of my results are in badger notes either, everything says not published next to it. At my first midwife appointment yesterday she said all my bloods from the booking appointment were normal but these still don't show on the app.

SPD is awful isn't it? Fingers crossed it doesn't impact your holiday. I'm mostly managing mine ok as I work from home now which I wasn't doing last time so easier to have breaks when I need them.

Fullofconfusion · 17/04/2024 16:23

I was offered it from the hospital when my screening result came back high. I’m 39 so apparently my risk would be 1/148 anyway just due to age and the NHS cut off is 1/150.

I’m just going to stay quietly positive and try not to think about it too much…but we all know how that goes! I suspect it’ll be on my mind until I receive the next call with NIPT results.

@RoseH36 yes, she said that results stay unpublished until they discuss them with you. My booking ones are the same. I think the midwife actually needs to click something to publish them but mine clearly hasn’t done that. Sounds like yours hasn’t either.

I hope you don’t get hit too hard by SPD. It’s definitely very uncomfortable

RoseH36 · 17/04/2024 17:48

@Fullofconfusion ah that may explain it then, didn't realise they had to do that.
Thank you, me too. Was on crutches for it last time so really don't want to get to that stage again. Hope you avoid it as much as possible too.

Papyrophile · 17/04/2024 20:00

If I may be permitted to say, I wish you all a very happy healthy pregnancy, and the delivery you want, and an easy baby -- because there was no MN
when I had my one and only at 43. DS is nearly 25 now. I would have killed for women going through the same experience and ready to talk about it in real time all those years ago. But people, mostly women older than you, will be lovely. They will hold your shopping trolley in a sloping car park and help you manage the buggy up the ramp, with a smile and a "don't fret, pet, you'll work it out attitude". Most people are lovely. I met our vicar in a supermarket car park one day when DS was yelling his head off for 40 minutes, and he just sat and chatted until DS ran out of steam.

Papyrophile · 17/04/2024 20:02

I didn't RTFT BTW.

RoseH36 · 21/04/2024 13:17

Has anyone's bump changed size at all? My friend is saw last weekend has commented today that it's looking a bit smaller than last week. Me being me I've now gone into slight panic mode of is this normal? It does look a little flatter. I'm 17 weeks today. Not yet felt any flutters but longing for that for that bit of reassurance. I last had a scan just over a week ago and it was all fine so hopefully just over thinking for no reason.
