Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

so glad to hear I’m not the only one! But yes are people asking for sweeps? I’m due on Saturday but don’t have my ‘40 week’ appointment until Wednesday so won’t get offered a sweep until then and then induction booked for Sunday!

Amf2508 · 04/04/2024 17:28

I've given up today trying to induce labour after three weeks of awful contractions daily! I went into work (39+6) which involves walking, bending,squatting... done a few house jobs I thought mentally I may be wanting finished. And relaxed and it's led to nothing. Roll on Tuesday and my induction!

Mrsttcno1 · 04/04/2024 19:27

For people who’ve had sweeps, can you tell me on a scale of 1-10 how much they hurt please?! My midwife said I could have had one on Tuesday but I was too scared so said no, wondering if it might be worth a try at my next appointment if we get that far! X

Amf2508 · 04/04/2024 19:30

@Mrsttcno1 I personally don't find them painful at all, maybe a bit awkward and uncomfortable but no actual pain whilst its being done. Ive technically had 4 so far and the one done by my actual midwife was the most vigorous and even that I didn't find painful...Afterwards I almost instantly get period type cramps though.

Mrsttcno1 · 04/04/2024 19:41

Thank you @Amf2508 that makes me feel a bit better about it! If she doesn’t come before my next appointment I will try! X

Amf2508 · 04/04/2024 19:59

@Mrsttcno1 I will add that I didn't find smear tests or when I had the coil fitted and removed painful either though. And I have been through the ringer with speculums and cervix tests this pregnancy! So if you have experienced discomfort before with anything like it I would say it will be on a similar level to that. Also helps if you're relaxed (easier said than done)!

Hopefulfirstround · 05/04/2024 12:44

Had my little girl on the 31st :) labour stalled so had to have a gel and an episiotomy but all things considered doing well , breast feeding but developed mastitis , starting antibiotics today 🤞

Mrsttcno1 · 05/04/2024 12:53

Ahh congratulations @Hopefulfirstround !!! X

Nataliemama · 05/04/2024 16:12

Had the sweep done yesterday. A lot of cramping, finding going to the loo for wee more now. Been for a walk. Didn't get much sleep last night after the sweep. Hoping she be here the weekend but can't count on it.

Cora24601 · 05/04/2024 19:10

After my unsuccessful sweep at 39+6 because baby was still too high. I've spent the last couple of days on the exercise ball to try and get him lower down and it worked and brought baby down enough so that todays sweep at 40+2 was successful. It was uncomfortable but not painful I would say. Not more than a smear. Had a bit of watery leaking earlier but nothing else since. Fingers crossed it worked and I don't need the induction at 41 weeks. Highly recommend the exercise ball for moving things along, so jumping back on that for the forseeable!

sweetdreams23 · 05/04/2024 19:15

I second using the ball! I spent a whole evening on it watching tv last pregnancy and went into labour a few hours later (at 39 was) also did a long long walk that day so that’s another thing that I think really helped!

94kj · 05/04/2024 19:46

@Cora24601 @sweetdreams23 just bouncing on it or any particular movements? Sorry if that'd a weird question 😂

sweetdreams23 · 05/04/2024 19:55

@94kj bouncing, figure of eight and rocking! X

Ttcmumma · 05/04/2024 20:04

I've been using my ball since 37 weeks (39+4 now) bouncing, hip movements back and forth, side to side, figure of eight, circles. Sideways walking upstairs, curb walking, still working (dog walker) and running up hills all day( just about) raspberry leaf tea, dates, sex. Not a single sign of labour and my son was born at 38 weeks so honestly just think at this point that babies come whenever they want no matter what we do 🤣

Cora24601 · 05/04/2024 20:05

@94kj best ones to get baby to engage and move down are alternating circular motions so clockwise for a few and then anti clockwise for a few and repeat. This is the one I could really feel working if that makes sense and then bouncing. This is what I did anyway 🤷‍♀️

94kj · 05/04/2024 20:08

Great thanks. How long have you been spending on the ball each day? Can't find anything online about that

MumDaisy1980 · 05/04/2024 21:44

@Hopefulfirstround many congratulations!! 🥳

Ttcmumma · 04/04/2024 16:58

So jealous of all of you being offered sweeps and inductions. I'm due Monday and next appointment is Tuesday. Mentally and physically need her out at this point 😭

I think I've only been offered sweeps before 40 weeks because I've got gestational diabetes and the placenta can begin to fail.

I'm so worried about going over...I've been done since about 36 weeks! Lol

Cora24601 · 05/04/2024 22:24

@94kj I've probably done 1-2 hours a day max. Today I did about 10/20 mins in the morning and then 30/40 mins before my appt just in front of the tv. I find it easier to do a couple of 20-30 min intervals as it does start to feel quite heavy.

Janeykat · 06/04/2024 10:17

Hi! How are all the april mamas doing? Im 37+4 today and going a bit mad waiting🤯 scheduled in for an elective c-section at 39 weeks so I dont neccessarily want to go earlier but i dont know what to do with the time between now and then😅too tired to clean, too uncomfortable to eat/move much but still need to keep my 4 year old entertained. Also this will be our last child so was hoping to enjoy this last bit of pregnancy but it feels like im wishing it away...aaah!

Pinkstuffs · 06/04/2024 10:20

I’m 37 + 4 as well, finally finished work yesterday which feels very surreal!! I’m struggling to sleep as baby movements are keeping me awake and I have really bad pgp. Not wishing this baby out as I still don’t have a kitchen currently 😅 I have to travel 4 hours and back Tuesday for a funeral too.

Ttcmumma · 06/04/2024 10:28

Have any of you ladies been swabbed for strep b? Is this standard practice? I haven't been offered it but keeping seeing things about it everywhere so wondering if I've missed something important!

Hey! I wasn’t intentionally swabbed but some protein flagged in my urine test so they sent it to the lab and it came back positive for strep B so I’m on 5 days of antibiotics then il need IV antibiotics during birth. To be honest it was complete fluke that they found it so I actually feel quite reassured about it. Also hoping these oral antibiotics should get rid of it before anyway and having the IV antibiotics won’t affect ability to have water birth etc !

Ttcmumma · 06/04/2024 10:58

@sweetdreams23 ah ok maybe as nothing's been flagged up then! Hope it stays a smooth process for you 😊

Pinkstuffs · 06/04/2024 11:09

@Ttcmumma my hospital have started doing it as a trial, although I’m not keen as I’ve read something like 40% of women are carriers and if you are you’ll need to be on an IV drip when giving birth even though less than 1% of those women will pass on to their babies.
