@MrsJ6921 @sashastuck thanks both, I guess all that matters is baby coming safely at the end of the day, certainly makes me feel better knowing you wouldn't have changed your decision now!

I'll see what they say at our scan today and decide, although I feel like I could have some very early labour niggles happening!

FirstT1meMum · 09/01/2024 12:32

Has anyone every had lactulose prescribed for their baby before 1 month?
We have been to see the Dr this morning as DD seems to be in so much pain when trying to go for a poo and hasn't been for over 24 hours now and last time this happened we ended up in hospital. The Dr has given us a prescription for lactulose but has said it's not licenced for before 1 month old but said if it was his child he would give it.
I'm so torn as to what to do for the best. I want her not to be in pain but I don't want to give her any medication that's unsafe 😩

FirstT1meMum · 09/01/2024 14:13

I can't seem to edit my comment above but just to edit to update, we've just had a massive poo so we're going to hold off on giving it her and see how we go! We've hopefully got our final midwife appointment tomorrow to be discharged so will be asking there!

Booklover88 · 09/01/2024 18:39

Ah @FirstT1meMum we’re having such similar experiences! My LG didn’t have a poo for just over 24 hours and I was planning on ringing the doctors this morning when she did a MASSIVE poo at 3am (and it was definitely about three poos in one!) she hasn’t done another one since so I’m going to bring it up with the midwife tomorrow.

FirstT1meMum · 09/01/2024 18:41

@Booklover88 it's reassuring to know we're not alone! Our journeys seem so similar! Yeah her first poo today was definitely more than one!

Is anyone else trying to fill time on maternity leave whilst waiting for baby to arrive? Would love to hear how everyone’s keeping themselves distracted!

@Lilothblos I'm wondering how I had time to work! I've not stopped most days either cleaning or getting things ready for baby. I've been wallpapering today and upcycling some furniture. DD (3) will keep me busy for next few days. Hoping Friday I can relax a bit!

Batch cooking is a good idea, if you've got spare time!

FirstT1meMum · 09/01/2024 19:15

@Lilothblos I didn't actually get to start maternity but what I wish I had done:
Sorted our bedroom more - we hadn't swapped sides or got DDs cot into our room and there's still a pile of washing up the corner that we haven't gotten around to putting away so now there's clean washing piling up downstairs too 🤦🏼‍♀️
Made sure my bag was packed - babys bag was ready to go but our bag was thrown together in the middle of the night. Everything was ready to go in it just never made it in before my waters went.
Made sure all her clothes were washed and organised - her nursery was pretty Sorted but it's a right mess again now!
Cleaned the house more - again, just so that it was a bit more organised when we came home.

HopeAndStrength · 09/01/2024 19:28

@Lilothblos I haven't started maternity leave yet but I have been working a few half days to use up my annual leave. I tend to fill my time by keeping on top of the cleaning, walking the dog (slowly!) and reading books whilst I have the chance.

Inmydreams88 · 09/01/2024 20:45

Noah arrived safely yesterday by C section at 40+5 after failing to progress after my waters broke. Not the birth I hoped for and the trauma may not have hit me yet, but he’s absolutely perfect! Good luck to all the mums still waiting x

Luhou · 09/01/2024 21:05

Huge congratulations @Inmydreams88. Wishing you a speedy recovery

HopeAndStrength · 09/01/2024 21:08

Congratulations on little Noah's arrival @Inmydreams88

Hummusanddipdip · 09/01/2024 23:35

Ahhh congratulations @Inmydreams88

@Lilothblos I actually gave birth on the day after my mat leave started, the first day was ds1's last day of Christmas hols, so we just had a mummy and son day as dh was at work, we boringly went to the local shopping centre, got some last minute bits for my hospital bags and had lunch.

With ds, I finished 2 months before birth because I wasn't coping with brain fog and bullying. I spent the time talking to the mental health nurse at my drs about stress and coping mechanisms (she saw me fortnightly) and cleaning the house top to bottom.

FirstT1meMum · 10/01/2024 00:34

Congratulations @Inmydreams88

IzzyMas · 10/01/2024 07:32

I'm not dumb, I know everyone gets tired when they're heavily pregnant, but it's just taken me an hour to get out of bed. I'm not depressed but I just feel totally emotionally flat & exhausted. I feel like cranky too. Is that normal at this stage?

RG9895 · 10/01/2024 07:33

@IzzyMas not sure if its normal but I am totally feeling the same! Even more so now I am overdue

IzzyMas · 10/01/2024 07:35

@RG9895 I'm not due for a few more weeks yet. I hope I'm not like this till the end. I could cry.

RG9895 · 10/01/2024 07:45

@IzzyMas bless you, is there anyone you could talk to about it? Sounds weird but think I am struggling as im on mat leave, kind of just sitting waiting and doing nothing. Im also a bit poorly so not sleeping well which I think are definitely all contributing factors. I just keep telling myself not much longer, baby will be here and it will get better 🤞🏻

IzzyMas · 10/01/2024 07:49

@RG9895 There is, but I'm alone currently. I'm like you, on maternity leave and just waiting for it to happen. I'm sleeping badly and I feel a mess this morning. I'm suddenly monstrously desperate for a cigarette and I've not had obviously not had one since I fell pregnant. I'm just in a weird mood.

RG9895 · 10/01/2024 07:58

@IzzyMas I feel exactly the same, I am sure it is normal. The end of pregnancy is a lot tougher than I imagined. I try and get myself out of bed, showered and dressed every day that usually helps my mood a lot. I might try and find a series to attempt to keep me occupied...just know you aren't alone and here if you need to chat. We can do this 💖

IzzyMas · 10/01/2024 08:01

@RG9895 thank you, I hate myself when I'm in this mood. I'm usually a very cheerful person ❤

Onedayatatime24 · 10/01/2024 09:53

@RG9895 @IzzyMas I finished work last Friday and today is the first day I've been out of bed before 11am. I've felt so drained, not been sleeping, felt so sick and lifeless and just like an absolute zombie. DH being near me and hearing him breathe was pissing me off 😂 Even when I made it downstairs I'd just sit on the sofa scrolling on my phone until DH made me go on a walk with him. Managed to get 7 hours ish sleep last night (only got up for a couple of wees and managed to get back to sleep which is what I've been struggling with) And feel so much better today and like I can actually DO something. Not sure if its hormones or maybe I was just so busy with Christmas and finishing work that when I finally stopped, it all hit me and I had to actually think about having a baby 😂 exhausting. I just took the sleep as I needed it, tried to get out for at least 10 mins a day, shower, dress etc. take it easy if that's what your body is saying, life will be busy enough soon! And hope you both feel a bit better in the next few days!

MustIthough · 10/01/2024 10:17

Hi girls, not great at keeping up to date but congrats on all the beautiful babies!
im 39+2 ftm. Had a few cramps before bed last night. Woke up to stronger feeling @3am timed a few. 6/7 minutes apart definite tightening and stronger pain than the general ache I’ve been feeling. Thought that was it! Then very little since.. feeling ok now , not sure what to do. Was it gas?? Do I wait it out or ring midwives? Feel silly if it’s nothing. I’m finding it very hard not knowing what the feelings are!

sashastuck · 10/01/2024 10:31

@Inmydreams88 congratulations, lovely name ❤️ it’s so rare that a birth goes completely to plan.
@Onedayatatime24 sorry it took me a while to reply to your question! Yes he did come out on the larger side but not as big as predicted - they said 7lbs11 at 36+6 and he didn’t quite make 9lbs at birth. I was expecting 9lbs+!! I needed suction to get hid head out but his body came right out after. X
