Congratulations everyone. They want me to come in on Saturday for C-Section due to polyhydramnios. I'm fine with that but now coming up to 38 weeks I am feeling incredibly depressed. Worried it might linger after baby. Anyone else?

Luhou · 10/01/2024 19:46

Hope everybody doing okay, had my final growth scan today and all on track. Think first signs of labour starting for me this evening. Started with just feeling off and a headache, since then had a few what I believe to be contractions. Back is really cramping. Waiting to see if more follow.

MustIthough · 10/01/2024 19:48

How many weeks are you Luhou? Joining the wait 😣

Luhou · 10/01/2024 19:50

39 weeks and had enough!

IzzyMas · 10/01/2024 19:56

I feel like I should apologize. I went on a bit of a whiny moan this morning on this thread, but I'm fine now. I don't know what got into me.

Luhou · 10/01/2024 19:59

@IzzyMas sure most of us have used this as a space to vent at some point, personally found the group a great support. No need Appologies. Glad you're feeling better.

IzzyMas · 10/01/2024 20:02

@Luhou thank you 😃

KayakingBex · 10/01/2024 22:03

Had my final growth scan today at 37 weeks. Hospital have handed me back to the community midwives. All well with baby and they reckon he is about 7lbs he’s busy giving me heartburn and pelvic girdle pain. Not long now! Finishing up work next week too - it feels very strange!

KayakingBex · 10/01/2024 22:44

@Luhou - fingers crossed for you and if it has started hope it all goes smoothly.

@IzzyMas - we all need to vent sometimes and here is a good place for it. 😊

My little yellow bump came out pink on the 8th Jan at 8.24pm weighing 6lb 9oz following my induction for pre eclampsia.

Was induced on the 4th day in hospital and ended up having the drip, I know there are horror stories about the drip but for me, wasn’t a problem. Had an amazing midwife and endless supply of ice courtesy of Costa coffee in the main entrance of the hospital!

Had to stay in overnight due to GD and pre eclampsia tests but released on Day 5 of hospital stay.

Back home now and getting used to breastfeeding again. Nipples are sore but sure they’ll calm down in a few days.

Good luck for those still waiting.

Congratulations on your wee one@Redpanda21 😊

TrudyProud · 11/01/2024 06:49

Congratulations to the new mummy's and babies!
40+4 over here and still waiting on little one to show her face - Gaagh, really thought she'd be here by now 🤣🫣

Gremlin84 · 11/01/2024 12:47

congrats @Redpanda21!

39+6 today and had 40 week appt. Induction booked in for 24th just in case baby doesn’t show before then. Also aware I can, if I so choose, ask for increased monitoring rather than induction (I suspect their dates are about a week out based on my cycle length), but I might have had enough by then anyway!

HopeAndStrength · 11/01/2024 13:23

Congratulations @Redpanda21 that's lovely news!

37+6 today, I can't believe we are almost there!

Luhou · 11/01/2024 13:33

Congratulations @Redpanda21 false alarm for me last night! Waiting game continues.

Long time lurker! Im currently 39 weeks pregnant and due to have my planned c-section next week. Bit of a niche question, but wondering if anyone has a similar background. Basically, I work for the prison service and I’m getting in my head about what if I’m sharing a ward with a ex-prisoners friend/family. Im probably overthinking and the likelihood is small but it’s making me feel quite anxious as I know I’ll be feeling extra vulnerable being a FTM. Would it be possible to get a private room on this basis?

MrsJ6921 · 11/01/2024 17:00

@dancingdaisies92 I was in a similar position, I gave birth nearly 3 weeks ago. I’m a Police Officer, it may be possible to put you in a side room but like everything it depends on availability. From my experience I just kept myself to myself and most people had their curtains closed the whole time on the ward and it was very rare I actually interacted with anyone other than a midwife etc

Dannic2018 · 11/01/2024 20:27

God ladies I’ve missed so much on here I’m so sorry!
congratulations to all new mama’s and good luck to all who are still expecting. Rosie is 2 weeks tomorrow and I still can’t believe she’s ours and here safe!

Onedayatatime24 · 12/01/2024 07:47

I really underestimated how frustrated I'd be just waiting around for something to happen. Already cleaned the whole house this week, getting out for a walk everyday, planned meals for next week, watched TV, read 2 books and I'm only 39+5 😩 come on baby!

I'm feeling the opposite - guilty about how much I'm enjoying these last few days of doing nothing!!

Inmydreams88 · 12/01/2024 11:27

Congratulations @Redpanda21 !

Noah is now 5 days old. C section recovery is no joke, it hurts to wee, I haven’t had a bowel movement yet and I can barely stand up from a seated or laid down position. I can’t look after my baby alone really and that has been quite difficult. Especially when he cries at night, my husband has been amazing but I feel guilty I haven’t been able to be as hands on as I’d like. How are other C section mums finding the recovery?

Gremlin84 · 12/01/2024 11:31

I’m with you @Lululumpkin ! Been really enjoying the time to just chill and potter and crack on with things I thought I’d never get around to (like declutter the bathroom cabinet 😂). It helps that I’m not super uncomfortable - I think I’d feel differently if that weren’t the case.
