Hope all goes well today @Mummyme87

Hopefully few more babies this weekend! I keep having really bad tightenings in the evening, feel like something is starting and then I go to bed sleep nd wake up fine. Anybody else found more tightenings in the evening?

Hi @Luhou I'm exactly the same. Evenings I honestly think I'm going into labour and go to bed expecting to wake in the night with contractions, but no nothing. It's so frustrating! X

Luhou · 06/01/2024 08:18

@ndavies22 good to know it's not just me! How many weeks are you?

Hopefully these are early stages with my first DD, when I went in for induction (39weeks) I was actually unknowingly 2cm, so maybe that's happening here.

Inmydreams88 · 06/01/2024 09:44

I feel like I’m in limbo now just waiting to go into labour. It’s crazy going to bed each night not knowing if I’m going to go into labour or not.

I don’t have any appointments booked now till Thursday when I will be 41+1. If I haven’t gone into labour naturally by then I will have to decide between induction, which I don’t want or section, which I also don’t want. I feel overwhelmed, just hoping I go naturally before Thursday.

Gremlin84 · 06/01/2024 12:14

Good luck today @Mummyme87! Hope it’s not too long a process.

Redpanda21 · 06/01/2024 12:35

I’m currently in hospital waiting to be induced due to pre eclampsia.

Came in last night and had a sweep, been having a few contractions but nothing substantial. She could get me to 3cm last night.

They’re going to assess to see if they can break waters and if not I’ll have propess, if so I’ll be put on the list to have waters broken

Luhou · 06/01/2024 12:55

Best of luck @Redpanda21 Xx

Hummusanddipdip · 06/01/2024 12:57

Good luck @Redpanda21 hope things progress nicely and it's easy. Same to you @Mummyme87

Inmydreams88 · 06/01/2024 14:07

Good luck @Mummyme87 and @Redpanda21 i hope you’re not waiting too long! What were your symptoms of pre eclampsia?

ndavies22 · 06/01/2024 14:19

@Luhou oh you're certainly not alone! I'm 37+5 - how about you? X

Luhou · 06/01/2024 14:26

@ndavies22 simillar to me, 38 + 2

Mummyme87 · 06/01/2024 16:17

I had my waters broken at 2pm which was pretty grim, feeling painful niggles

IzzyMas · 06/01/2024 17:13

How usual is it for the size of your bump to really take off in the last few weeks?
I know it's sounds dumb but I've gone from looking heavily pregnant to looking like I'm carrying twins, now I look like I'm carrying twin baby hippos. I know baby puts on weight in the last few weeks but this is madness.

I'm fuming as I've avoided stretch marks until this week - I'm 39 weeks today!! 😭

IzzyMas · 06/01/2024 17:53

@Lululumpkin I'm sorry to hear that, I tried my hardest and avoided them till about month six, then I woke up one day looking like I'd been clawed on my bump by Freddy Kruger 😭

Booklover88 · 06/01/2024 19:01

Hi everyone! I’ve been a bit of a silent follower on here for the last few months as I struggle to keep up with all the threads! Congratulations to everyone who has welcomed new arrivals and hope the wait isn’t too long everyone else!

I had my baby girl on Sunday and have also struggled with feeding. I had a prolonged labour over 4 days so was exhausted by the time I gave birth and a bit shell shocked. I had GD in pregnancy and I have PCOS all of which have contributed to my milk being slow to come in. By day 2, I still wasn’t producing any colostrum and several midwives tried to hand express-nothing. I only started producing colostrum on day 3 by which time baby had lost 8% of her birth weight and we were put on a feeding plan where I was breastfeeding, expressing after every feed (only getting a max of 20ml each time but sometimes barely anything) and topping up with formula. It’s been absolutely exhausting. Fortunately, baby has regained some weight when we saw the midwife yesterday but I fear the damage has been done with the formula top ups and she’s started to just use the breast as comfort rather than for food and because of the formula top ups we were told to do, my milk still isn’t in on day 6. The midwife yesterday was amazing and basically said that we should seriously consider bottle feeding for my mental health as the constant battle to try and get her to breastfeed when I just don’t have enough milk has been getting me down and I’ve become resentful of the lovely feeds my husband has with baby while I’m expressing. I feel the four hours a day spent expressing (especially when there’s minimal output) could be spent bonding with my daughter. We’re carrying on with breastfeeding/expressing/top ups for the next couple of days to give my milk a chance to come in but I fear our breastfeeding journey is coming to an end. I’m sad about it but I refuse to feel guilty. I’ve literally tried everything and we’ve had a feeding specialist out but I feel the first few days of my baby’s life has been spent feeling stressed and upset about my inability to feed her rather than enjoy being her mum. Just wanted to post as your experiences resonated with me @Vikki7 and @FirstT1meMum xx

FirstT1meMum · 06/01/2024 19:24

@Booklover88 thank you for sharing your experience, it sounds so similar to my own! We've got yet another weigh in tomorrow and meeting with the feeding team but I'm now 16 days post labour and I'm still not 100% sure my milk is fully in and I'm expecting them to say to go fully formula fed which will absolutely break my heart as I have loved breast feeding so much but i need to try and not be so hard on myself. I feel everything I told myself during pregnancy has gone out of the window!

KayakingBex · 06/01/2024 19:51

Good luck @Redpanda21 and @Mummyme87 i hope it goes smoothly from for you both.

@Booklover88 - thank you for sharing, you sound like a super woman to me that sounds exhausting. Your mental health is absolutely important too and your midwife sounds amazing. So long as baby is fed - although totally understand feeling sad about the situation. To be honest I’m worried I may struggle with it to due to having flat nipples but I will just have to try and see and if I can’t that’s ok but I think I will be sad too.

Booklover88 · 06/01/2024 20:07

@KayakingBex thank you, it’s been a real internal conflict but ultimately I wasn’t being the best mum to my baby by exhausting myself physically and mentally trying to up my milk supply. Feel so relieved now I’ve taken that pressure off myself and have had such a lovely day with my gorgeous daughter

Inmydreams88 · 06/01/2024 20:40

My waters went a few hours ago, it felt like a heavy period clot when I stood up. I was quite shocked it was pink tinged I just assumed they would be clear so I panicked at first thinking I was bleeding heavy. Went to get checked out but having no contractions so have to go back in 24 hours if no progress. 😬 I’m very nervous!

Booklover88 · 06/01/2024 21:39

Sorry @FirstT1meMum missed your reply! Hope it goes well tomorrow and you’re feeling ok. You’ve done everything you can and there’s far more to being a mum than breastfeeding. I was formula fed and have a cracking immune system and am so close to my mum that she cut the umbilical cord when I gave birth!

Luhou · 06/01/2024 22:11

@Inmydreams88 exciting!

I'm concerned about my movements tonight. It's freezing and I'm in bed, not sure I can face going and getting checked out now but also can't sleep because worried.

sashastuck · 06/01/2024 22:14

Lots happening!! Best of luck @Mummyme87 @Inmydreams88 @Redpanda21 xxx

@Booklover88 really sorry that this is the experience you’ve had. It must be really hard, newborns are tricky enough without the aspect of feeding even in the equation, let alone with it. I think the suggestion of bottle feeding for your mental health is a good one and it sounds like you’ve absolutely tried your best and more! x

Luhou · 06/01/2024 22:48

Thankfully baby having a good wiggle now. Anybody else struggling with sickness at this late stage 🤢

IzzyMas · 06/01/2024 22:53

@Luhou very much so, I'm past the glowing stage and into the please be born stage. I just feel off-colour so much.

Onedayatatime24 · 06/01/2024 23:00

@Luhou yes! I've had no nausea at all the whole pregnancy, then the last 4/5 days I've been feeling so sick at random points throughout the day! I've not been sick but had multiple times where my mouth has filled with saliva like I'm about to be 🤢 how far are you? I'm 39 weeks tomorrow so hoping for not much longer left 🤞 still not convinced he's dropped or anything though!
