Oh my god 🤦🏻‍♀️ i have been so stupid haha 😂
so the bin issue has been solved and i can’t believe it took me so long, i blame lack of sleep and baby brain, so our bin is like the one in the picture, it sits in a corner in our kitchen and all i had to do was turn the bin around to face the corner and she can no longer reach it 🤦🏻‍♀️ i need more sleep haha 😂 xx

Of course it probably won’t be long and she will probably work out to turn the bin but i have some peace for the time being haha 😂 xx

That's amazing! We're renovating and there's a right draft that comes through when it's super cold outside, we have a curtain hanging on the outside of the doorway leading in but last week I had the same 'how has it took me so long to figure this out' moments too - I can get an extendable shower curtain and hand a thick thermal curtain on the inside too 🤯 and in the other door way that's a little more tricky. Definitely lack of sleep and baby brain effecting this realisation lol

Haha we have heavy curtains on our front and back doors, we just hung a curtain pole above each door lol xx

Is everyone back at work yet? im dreading going back if my LG is still having a 3am party lol!

I've been back since September and my LO still doesn't sleep more than 2 hours at a time, at the moment more like 30-60 min 😴

You manage. You have to. My DH has not enjoyed having to share night wake ups now we're both working!

I went back in April, when night sleeps weren't the best and looking back I was still very much sleep deprived. But as @FlyingHighFlyingLow has said, you manage. I find once I'm at work, I'm fine.

I’m lucky in that I don’t go back until January. I’ve done kit days but always been lucky with her sleep the night before. I suppose you guys are right, you just manage don’t you!

my LO is choked with the cold and is literally refusing all food. Just made a chicken curry, rice and naan. Its all on the floor lol

Beans1982 · 27/11/2024 22:30

Also lucky here as I don't go back to work until Jan.

@99SR I hope your LO feels better soon! Ah I hate it when time has been spent cooking a nice meal only for it to be thrown around (it's happened to me a few times).

I may be late to start, but has everyone gone through sleep training with their LO? interested to know which method/s you used. My LO is getting three teeth through at the same time which is impacting his sleep so I'm giving him extra comfort by rocking him until he's drowsy/yawns three times before putting him in his cot to sleep and exiting his room undetected.
It's been working okay but last few days everytime I put him down he rolls around so much before pulilng himself up to reach for me to pick him up.
Tonight I had to hide behind the cotbed until he fell asleep.
He's also cried a few times when I've taken him into his room to sleep. Makes me think there's something he doesn't like in there?

Avie29 · 28/11/2024 06:38

Ive not done sleep training with dd but i did with my eldest 2, i used the ferber method/controlled crying, my eldest i had to do sleep training twice, once at 6 months and then again at 18months at 18 months i done the chair method (but sat on the floor not a chair) lol xx

99SR · 28/11/2024 09:46

@Beans1982 ive not done sleep training as such. My LG has always been quite good at rolling over and just going to sleep after her milk. But it does take her about 10/15 mins sometimes and in that time I do sometimes have to go in and provide a bit of reassurance if she’s upset. Although I don’t let her scream. If that makes sense! Have you looked at blissful baby expert on Instagram? She has a self settling zoom you can purchase. A few of my friends done this. A couple people at my baby group have done the cry it out/ferber method and have said that by day 4 they settle well. Not sure if that’s something you’d do though as I think the first two days can be quite traumatic.

RG84 · 01/12/2024 20:38

I'm due back to work tomorrow 😫 I'm working mon-thurs and having Fridays off as annual leave until April. I work from home but I'm still feel sooo anxious. Not going to sleep tonight 😭

Nclktnntt · 02/12/2024 19:05

Anyone put their tree up yet and how have your little ones found it? I want to put ours up this week and I can't wait to see little man's reaction 😂 xx

OP posts:
99SR · 02/12/2024 19:14

@Nclktnntt i put ours up on Saturday while my LG was at my mums. She loved seeing it when she came home! She’s went over to it a few times and pulled a bauble or 2 off. She’s also pulled the skirt off round the bottom lol but that’s it! She doesn’t seem that bothered by it anymore. Xx

Avie29 · 02/12/2024 20:45

@Nclktnntt we have started decorations but not put tree up yet, takes us a few days to get all the decs up, she has been happily playing with anything she can get her hands on baubles, tinsel, balloons, nativity figures lol her favourite decoration so far is a singing dancing reindeer and gingerbread man, she dances with them lol xx

Nclktnntt · 03/12/2024 10:00

@Avie29 oh that's so sweet! Due to renovating most of our decorations stay in storage but the tree is a must. I have mostly glass baubles though so think I'll be keeping those up high and the soft or plastic ones lower this year. It'll be the first year (of many) that it doesn't look even I think 😂

@99SR that sound promising if she's less bothered by it now ☺️

We don’t have any glass baubles thankfully although silly dad let her play with a bauble while out shopping yesterday and she dropped it n it smashed 🤦🏻‍♀️ lol she has broken 2 streamers haha but we bought a load more this year so wasn’t too worried, we are putting the tree up last this year (normally do the tree first) hoping by the time we put the tree up she will be bored of all the decs n lights n won’t bother too much, my DS pulled the tree down onto himself when he was little, didn’t hurt himself thankfully but always scary xx

Nclktnntt · 04/12/2024 16:29

Oops 😂@Avie29

So I put the tree up and lights on while little one was napping, he woke up and wasn't in the best of moods (has a stinking cold) and didn't really seem pleased at all with the magically arriving Christmas tree. Even seemed a little scared of it 🙈. He's a little more friendly towards it after a bottle and curious but keeping his distance for now 😂.

I haven't put the baubles on yet. I actually don't know where they are. I thought they were in the box with the tree (where I usually put them), but they're not in there lol.

Have just finished putting the tree up and decorating it, will see what her reaction is in the morning lol oh bless your LO, it probably would be a bit scary having a big tree suddenly appear in the living room haha, hopefully my DD isn’t too shocked by ours appearing overnight haha xx

Avie29 · 05/12/2024 18:47

She has pretty much ignored the tree all day haha 😂 she crawled over, whacked a hanging Santa figure and lost interest, apparently clinging to my legs is much more interesting lol xx

Nclktnntt · 05/12/2024 20:42

@Avie29 😂😂😂 my LO really likes the lights and is kinda acting like it's always been there with the odd time he remembers and gestures towards it. But hasn't bothered with it at all lol.

We haven’t got our tree up. Was trying to decide if I should wait till after little one’s birthday. Although my toddler is desperate to put it up so we may do it this weekend. We’ve had first steps this week and honestly I’m kinda sad my baby is growing up. He’s also been really struggling with trapped wind at night. Think he must be having a wee growth spurt as he’s scoffing so much food and also asking for milk constantly. Anyone any tips for wind in bigger babies. Can’t pinpoint any particular food trigger.

Srs12 · 06/12/2024 22:42

Not posted on here in a while so apologies if this has already been talked about but how does everyone get their LOs to sleep?

my 11 month old has always had to be rocked in someone’s arms, he had to be upright and you have to normally be walking around with him but at the very least standing. This has been fine but recently he’s been ill and I think going through a sleep regression at the same time 😭 and so before he even gets close to falling asleep my arms have gone dead and I need to sit down for a second which wakes him up again and we have to start over 🙈.

I did think it was pretty normal until seeing at nursery (I work at the same nursery in a different room) he is the only baby that still has to go to sleep in your arms, all the others they lie down still awake and just rub their backs or tummies to sleep. If I try that with my little boy he just screams at me and crawls off 🙈. He has also gone down to one nap at nursery from 30m-1hr when he definitely still needs 2 (he refuses a morning nap at nursery and then just goes to sleep eventually from exhaustion after lunch) and I think a lot of it is due to him being so difficult to get to sleep. They have said at nursery how difficult he is to get to sleep and now I’m thinking it might be my fault as I never persevered to get him to sleep any other way when he was younger and now it’s impossible 😭😭

sorry for the long post, open to any advise if anyone got this far 🤣
