Hi all! I'm 4 weeks exactly today, due date is 4th August ☺️ This will (hopefully) be DC2!

How is everyone feeling? I've got sore boobs, mild cramps and waves of nausea that I didn't get until week 6 with my DD so I guess it's starting early, lucky me 🥳

Hi everyone! Another one scraping in on the August due dates - I've just found out I am pregnant with our first baby! Predicted due date is 29 August. Very excited but trying to be cautiously so, I've never been pregnant before so need to try and take it as it comes.

Are you all planning to tell your family at Christmas? I think it will be very obvious I'm not having a Christmas tipple so we are thinking of telling our parents and siblings but nobody else. It does feel very early though, I'll only be 4.5/5 weeks!

graceinc22 · 17/12/2023 08:32

I think it’s such a personal decision when to tell people. With our first baby (ended in miscarriage at 11 weeks 6 days back in August), we only told a very few people not including siblings; when we lost the baby, we were absolutely devastated and ended up sharing widely. It was really weird and not very nice telling people “I was pregnant and now I’m not” - both pieces of news at once. After that experience we are now this time round sharing with close friends and immediate family pretty much right from the start - our thinking is that being pregnant is significant news in itself (even if I do end up having another miscarriage), and we would tell them if I did lose the baby again, so why not tell them now? It’s such a personal decision though and I completely understand people who don’t tell anyone until the 12w scan - when things are a lot clearer.

graceinc22 · 17/12/2023 08:33

And @GeographyTeacher so many congratulations!!!!! How exciting!!!! How amazingly exciting - but also a bit scary?? A double blessing ❤️

FirstTimeMumma2021 · 17/12/2023 08:51

This is baby number 2 for is and planning on telling close family at Christmas.
Last time we told our parents at about 4.5 weeks lol but now with a toddler not sure how long it'll keep under wraps. Already been vomiting this morning so he's yesterday when i got a positive, he was saying mummy was crying cos she's happy and then this morning mummy's being sick 🤣

DisneyLady1 · 17/12/2023 11:29

Hope you're okay @fr4zzledmum . You might know this already, or it might not apply, but if you've had a previous loss and start spotting you can request progesterone. It explains this on the Tommy's website. Thinking of you at this stressful time.

DisneyLady1 · 17/12/2023 11:32

@graceinc22 we told people right away too. Our first was a miscarriage so I needed the support from people anyway (I know this is a personal decision).Couldn't imagine going through all that and then feeling like you couldn't tell people. Plus I needed to tell work anyway as I had to take time off for the additional checks, medical appointment etc. Child loss at any stage is the hardest thing :(

brbttc · 17/12/2023 12:24

@Saffie920 congrats!! 🎉

pontipinemum · 17/12/2023 13:02

Hi all, I'm away the last few days and haven't checked in. I am so so bloated. We are at centre parcs and I saw myself in the mirror at the pool yesterday I honestly look at 6 months pregnant 🤣 ah well. Having a great time with our 16 month old though.

Acid is killing me, I'm on the gaviscon big time. Also so so tired

@graceinc22 exactly whatever feels right. I told my mam last time and mc'd a week later. This time I haven't. I just didn't want to. The 2 mc's before DS was the same I had told her about 1 but not the other but told loads of family when I mc'd

Loved seeing all the scan pics 😍 I had 2nd bloods done Friday for comparison but the lab didn't have them back before closing so need to wait until Monday. 1st set looks good though.

I think I'll get a scan on the 27th. According to LMP I'll be 7+1 but my cycle was way off because of the mc, like 5/6 days so hopefully we see something

GeographyTeacher · 17/12/2023 13:17

Goodness! Thanks to everyone for your lovely messages, I’ve read them all over and over. I’m away for a few days so have tried to not be on my phone too much.

It’s still not really sunk in yet, me and DH are still laughing every time we talk about it because it just doesn’t seem real. No one in our families knows but hoping to tell them over Christmas.

There are no twins in either of our families…but I’m thinking it could be because of my age and BMI…or just a miracle! My 12 week scan isn’t until almost 13 weeks so will likely have another scan before then to see what’s going on.

Feeling exhausted, bloated and always hungry. Boobs are also very sore, especially at night and also…my hair is already growing at the speed of light. No sickness apart from a bit of travel sickness yesterday (on a bus full of people) but feeling ok otherwise.

RiverBear · 17/12/2023 13:20

Anyone else switching between days of nausea and days of feeling absolutely ravenous?! I had terrible nausea yesterday and had to force myself to eat 3 small meals but today I'm STARVING 🙃

CurlyWurly1991 · 17/12/2023 13:41

@RiverBear yes i am exactly the same!!

pontipinemum · 17/12/2023 13:49

@GeographyTeacher I knew with age you're more likely to release two eggs, is that right? I didn't know anything about BMI, how does that make a diff? My BMI isn't ideal it was floating around 28/29. DS was a twin but the 2nd one "vanished" it was measuring about a week smaller though. I was 33 at the time and had a "healthy bmi"

winterspinach · 17/12/2023 13:54

anyone get a HUGE burst of energy in the morning that peters out as the day goes on until you get nauseated and so exhausted you go to sleep at 6pm? 😭

EMJL · 17/12/2023 14:06

@winterspinach exactly this 😩😂

winterspinach · 17/12/2023 14:12

@EMJL it’s so bizarre isn’t it 😭 I can’t believe our bodies are just shutting down on us so quickly, but also doing something so amazing on the inside 🥲. Least we’re not alone in this haha

EMJL · 17/12/2023 14:17

@winterspinach it's crazy, and how you can feel fine one day and then awful the next. But there's so much going on inside! I remember feeling like this when pregnant with my son.. roll on the second trimester! 🤢 xxx

fr4zzledmum · 17/12/2023 14:33

Very minimal spotting today so I'm taking it easy and tbh, ignoring it now! I don't want it to marr my experience.

I'm hoping the midwife will be ringing me this week to arrange my booking appt, so I'll mention it then. I'm going to work from home the majority of the week too.

Hope everyone is well.

toomanysausages · 17/12/2023 14:36

I already have horrendous reflux/heartburn. It was one of my first symptoms when I was oblivious for a week. My Mum has said how bloated I am (same as last time). Even though it was only a year ago I forgot how unpleasant the first trimester nausea.
Some lovely scan photos! I've put mine on the fridge 🥰
Anybody WITHOUT sore boobs? That and nausea were my overwhelming symptoms last time but my boobs are 100% fine this time. I wonder if it's because i haven't stopped producing milk yet? Or if it will come later.
Hope you've all had a nice weekend

CharTT33 · 17/12/2023 16:59

@frazzledmum I’m so sorry you are experiencing spotting while wiping, I have it too sometimes when I wipe but it is not loads it’s just a tiny amount… I’m going to having another scan on Tuesday, I’m sooo nervous my symptoms have been fluctuating so much crazy sore boobs to slightly sore boobs to nothing back to crazy sore boobs etc and so on, acid reflux to trapped wind to nothing, bloatinggggggg like crazy at times, tiredness… sometimes I think am I imagining the symptoms too🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ it’s just so stressful tbh…. How far along are you? Xxx

Welshgal85 · 17/12/2023 17:32

Anyone else have stomach ache? My nausea has pretty much gone last day or two but have had stomach ache/pain the last few days instead. It doesn’t really feel like cramping though, feels higher up. Argh it’s so hard not to over think every little twinge!

I’m 7 weeks now and got my dating scan mid Jan

hickorydickory20 · 17/12/2023 17:53

Hi all, joining this as recently found out I am pregnant with #2, due 22 August 2024. I hadn’t planned it quite yet, but still happy. My first is 21 months currently. Can’t believe how long this thread is already too lol. I joined a mumsnet thread back with my first and we still have a Fb group that we talk on and update every now and again.

No symptoms really yet, but had nausea from around 5-6 weeks with my first so not excited for that..

Also had a miscarriage before my first, so that has left me a little cautious about spreading the news too quickly but will definitely tell my MIL at xmas. My 12 week scan will be just before my firsts birthday so will likely announce sometime around then.

fingers crossed for happy and healthy babies for all.

Pixiedust138 · 17/12/2023 18:59

I’m having an early scan tomorrow at 6 weeks 2 days because I’m high risk. I’m really shitting myself and I will be alone as we have no childcare so DH will be with our son. Hospital rules are no children at scans so we've really got no choice usually DH’s Mum looks after our son when needed but she’s having a hospital appointment for results to find out if her cancer has returned 😭 it’s going to be such a scary day for us.

fsr111 · 17/12/2023 20:02

Good luck tomorrow @Pixiedust138 - hard to have to go by your own. Will be keeping everything crossed for you and also for your MIL's news too. I have an early scan tomorrow too. Will be 7+3. Am at the stage now of thinking I'll be glad when it's over so I can just deal with whatever happens.

dg3131 · 17/12/2023 20:28

I've just been to the toilet and when I wiped there was a pink tinge on the paper 😭 barely noticeable but very noticeable to me who has checked every wipe since I was pregnant. Has anyone else had this? I need reassurance. Had an early scan on Thursday and all looked fine 🥺

SnookyPook · 17/12/2023 20:28

@Pixiedust138 @fsr111 good luck to you both for your scans tomorrow. Such a nerve-wracking time. Fsr I know what you mean. I kind of just want to know what's going on now. I was in town earlier and suddenly felt really wet down there and was absolutely convinced I was going to see blood when I went to the toilet but was just discharge. It's just horrible not knowing what's going on.

Pixie I hope your MiL is ok too. What a worrying time 😔 x
