Hi all! I'm 4 weeks exactly today, due date is 4th August ☺️ This will (hopefully) be DC2!

How is everyone feeling? I've got sore boobs, mild cramps and waves of nausea that I didn't get until week 6 with my DD so I guess it's starting early, lucky me 🥳

Early scans - Is waiting till 6/7 weeks recommend for a better chance of seeing a heart beat please? X

NelliePig · 10/12/2023 18:31

Is there a FB page? Not sure if I've missed it in the thread somewhere x

dg3131 · 10/12/2023 18:32

@NelliePig I've just booked mine for Thursday this week- I'll be 7weeks 1day. When booking on the particular companies website it recommends not to book prior to 7 weeks due to fact they may not hear heart beat so would definitely say hold out if you can

EMJL · 10/12/2023 18:32

@NelliePig not yet! I was going to set one up in the new year when we're all a little bit further along 😊

NelliePig · 10/12/2023 18:34

Fab! Looking forward to hopefully joining the Facebook group too!

7 weeks is what I was thinking, I've got some major anxiety this time round as developed an auto immune disorder after my 1st and am on lots of meds and I'm sure a higher chance of m/c. Not sure I'll be able to relax until I see a heartbeat! X

GeographyTeacher · 10/12/2023 19:14

@Pllystyrene Yes! The exhaustion has really hit today and I’ve spent most of it on the sofa.

@NelliePig I have mine this week at 6+6. I would have waited longer but we’re off on holiday and wouldn’t be able to fit one in before Christmas. We’re planning on telling our families at Christmas so wanted to have a reassurance scan beforehand…although we know nothing is guaranteed. The last time we had a scan at 8+2, baby only measured at 6+5. It died a few days later which we found out at 12 weeks.

Feeling very anxious as with my last pregnancy I had no sickness or nausea and this is shaping up to feel similar to that. It’s hard not to compare pregnancies but after an awful MMC experience the fear is very real.

keyboardgirl8 · 10/12/2023 20:14

Hey, late to the party but only found out last week I’m pregnant! I’d felt “off” and done loads of pregnancy tests but all negative, then had my period on 30/11. Tried a dress on because I planned on wearing it the next day and I jokingly shouted to my husband that I was so bloated I looked pregnant! Something urged me to do a test so I did (just one of the cheapy ones) and it immediately showed two lines. I was in disbelief so did a Clear Blue which said pregnant 2-3! Turns out my “period” was implantation bleeding. Who knew?! I had some v v light brown spotting and v v mild cramps but fingers crossed nothing for a few days. I’ve also had to immediately come off strong meds I was taking for anxiety so I felt absolutely awful, but surprisingly I feel pretty good right now at 5wks!

This is my first pregnancy and I have raging emetophobia as well as panic disorder, and a chronic bladder condition, plus no immediate family (though do have DH’s parents). But you know what, for some reason I feel surprisingly chill and relatively well right now 😂 a calm before the storm perhaps!

And hopefully to provide others some reassurance, my implantation bleed felt like a lighter and less painful period than normal, but if I’d known what it was I’d probably have been pretty worried!

Sending lots of lovely thoughts over the festive period and I’ve enjoyed reading through so many posts on here, such a terrifying yet exciting journey, I’m so excited to see my body change and grow ❤️

NelliePig · 10/12/2023 20:17

I had absolutely no sickness or nausea with my entire first pregnancy with my daughter! Some people are just lucky! X

Isthisrealomgwow · 10/12/2023 20:22

I'm on the cylogest and am not having any symptoms. I'm starting to worry.

graceinc22 · 10/12/2023 20:52

@Isthisrealomgwow im on cyclogest with minimal symptoms too. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. In the patient information leaflet, a whole list of side effects were mentioned with the prevelance given as 1 in 10; when my consultant was giving it to me, he just said it might make me feel bloated! People’s reactions to hormones are just so different x

Maybepossibly22 · 10/12/2023 20:53

Also emetophobic with raging panic disorder! Sending love.
I had no sickness with my first. This is my third pregnancy (second was Mmc) and am so nervous about having morning sickness this time. I’m 6 weeks tomorrow 🤞

pontipinemum · 10/12/2023 21:29

@Pllystyrene that must be a shock another baby after 13 years. It'll be lovely though. My DHs sister is 12yrs older than me and doted on his as a baby. They still have a fantastic relationship now.

I am so so so tired these last few days. Last night my 16month old decided to wake up at least once an hour. We were staying with my mam and I think that unsettled him.

Getting blood done tomorrow.

@NelliePig Best to wait until 7 weeks if you can. Last time I got scans super early at like 4 weeks. Then again at 5.5wks, and 6.5 weeks, it just leaves so much uncertainty because they can't really tell until 6 weeks min. I am going to go to EPU at 7 weeks I am sure I ovulated on CD 18 so I don't know what they'd see at 6weeks

Mumof2expecting3rd · 10/12/2023 22:24

Hiya everyone, my EDD is the 13 of August (to be confirmed) but going on my last period that's the date me and my app have come up with.

I'm around 4+5 weeks today. This will hopefully be DC3! My last pregnancy was 4 years ago and I can't remember much about the little things! I had awful sickness with my 2 other children, it was horrific if I'm honest.

This time I don't really have many symptoms, I was really emotional before I got my positive, crying at literally anything, then my boobs were sore, they now are somewhat worse and I've had 4 BFP each line darker than the one before, so that's positive, but I'm not feeling or being sick, and this as been worrying me
In all honestly just because I was so
Sick in previous pregnancies, I know each pregnancy is different but is this usual
This early ?
I'm also having mild cramping and again I can't remember having these cramps with other pregnancies? I guess I'm just looking too much into things!

Congratulations to all you mummies for getting your BFP 😍 here's to me hoping that this is my chance for a little boy. I would love a boy but in all honesty as long as baby is fine & healthy I'll be happy 💖💙

Pllystyrene · 11/12/2023 07:07

@pontipinemum I've forgotten all about sleepness nights! But you're right I can't wait to tell my 13 year old, he's always wanted a little brother or sister.

CurlyWurly1991 · 11/12/2023 08:05

Lots of luck to those having early scans this week…
if we waited until after 7 weeks it would be right at end of Dec and I’m struggling to find a time slot that would suit us. Ideally both me and DH while our existing older child is back at school…
Looked back at my notes from first pregnancy and realise I wasn’t yet experiencing the all day nausea until a bit later, so that is a bit reassuring. Still, I feel relatively normal right now at just gone 5 weeks.

SnookyPook · 11/12/2023 08:40

@CurlyWurly1991 it's hard not to worry isn't it. I think with DS my symptoms hit properly between weeks 6 and 7.. which would be this coming week. However, the fact I've not been feeling much yet has made me feel a bit anxious, especially after three losses this year. I should be 6 weeks tomorrow. My last miscarriage was at 7 weeks and my MMC stopped developing at 7+5 so the next couple of weeks are going to be tough. Just trying to keep calm and take one day at a time. If this is my rainbow baby then all shall be well... And if not, it won't. That's all you can say really isn't it. 🙏🏼🌈

winterspinach · 11/12/2023 09:32

Hi ladies just wondering how you decide where to book an early scan? xx

Olivia2019 · 11/12/2023 09:46

Transvaginal ultrasound vs. Abdominal ultrasound

Morning ladies, just booked my early scan and a message popped up about the type of ultrasound they'll do. 5 years ago when I was pregnant with DS I had quite a few scans early on and they were all abdominal scans.

Why did that change and can I still request an abdominal scan?

@winterspinach I booked my scan through window to the womb. They were referred to me by a friend when I was pregnant with DS.
I really liked them and I've booked a scan with them again.

pontipinemum · 11/12/2023 10:04

@Olivia2019 I looked at a few private places, some said you can request either so I'm sure the choice is your. I have decided I'll just go to EPU, I think they will do internal. They are far more accurate earlier on, they are a bit uncomfortable but not bad. If you go for that option wear a long top, but they also give you a little 'blanket' (cloth thing)

CurlyWurly1991 · 11/12/2023 10:05

@SnookyPook I totally get that. There is basically nothing that will be reassuring except for time passing, basically. I do look at the miscarriage probability decline over time and that gives me some hope. I know that symptoms don’t guarantee a good outcome either. Just trying to be thankful that on this day I am pregnant…

Welshgal85 · 11/12/2023 10:37

Eurgh the nausea is wiping me out! Feeling so sick all the time. Has anyone got any tips for things that may help? Ginger biscuits are helping a bit but probably shouldn’t eat them all day 😂

pontipinemum · 11/12/2023 10:39

Have you given up caffeine? I think I still need a coffee 1st thing in the morning.

I think you can get sugar free ginger biscuits you know - don't think I've imagined it.

You don't need to give it up - just reduce it.

I allow myself one filter coffee every morning :)

SunSparkle · 11/12/2023 11:01

I'm the same as you @SnookyPook - I'm having some scans but they are more for me rather than trying to prevent anything. I think I've got one at 7 weeks (pre-Christmas) and then one at 9 or 10 weeks (my last miscarriage was 9 weeks, discovered at 12 weeks) as I feel that it would make me less scared for my 12 week scan.

I'm just trying to take each day as it comes. I won't be making any other plans really until after 12 weeks.
