Ok I’m back home and all is fine! Baby just decided to be a bit different, I guess.

@thislittlebird great news! I t does happen sometimes. But it is always best to get checked out if you have any doubts.

KG1244 · 13/02/2024 17:15

@thislittlebird really good to hear ❤️

PollywithaP · 13/02/2024 20:15

@thislittlebird you must be relieved. So glad all is well. Had my diabetes test today. Totally disgusting! I really hope i’m clear. Also had 28wk scan a little early and it looks like another girl. I’m a bit dissappointed as I really wanted a boy. Still baby is happy and very wriggly so all good. At least we don’t need to get anything new as we have it all in the loft from last baby.

TheBirdintheCave · 13/02/2024 22:27

@PollywithaP Congrats on your wee girl! :)

@thislittlebird I'm glad everything is ok with your little one :)

CollsR · 13/02/2024 23:02

@thislittlebird very pleased for you! Glad you got checked & brilliant it was good news.

@PollywithaP congrats on your (probably) girl. I had 28 week ultrasound today & asked if they could confirm it was a boy. Took a bit of manoeuvring & the ultrasound tech had to point it out… but saw a tiny penis.

I have my diabetes test Thursday morning. I’m usually calm but dreading it. I hate blood tests & used to faint a lot. IVF taught me hydration & food before helps. Also if have anything sugary I have terrible morning sickness the next day. One Gu pot… or even a small tin of pineapple slices was enough to trigger me. Have figured 8/10 times my morning sickness was sugar related. Now I only vomit once every 10 days.

Feeling very blessed to be pregnant with my baby boy this evening after reading this terrible article. I will never take this blessing for granted. The world is so cruel

@PollywithaP @CollsR congrats to you both!

Ive not heard about this diabetes test from my midwife. Does everyone get it?

thislittlebird · 14/02/2024 07:59

@KG1244 i think GD test is only if you’re classed as at risk, my sisters have type 2 or pre-type 2, for example. I’ve got mine in a few weeks.

@KG1244 omg, I was at Guys for my first round, let me read that now.

@PollywithaP congrats on the little girl!

how come so some of you guys getting 28 week scans? I got a 20 week where they guessed the sex, then nothing until 36 weeks. My work colleague got a 20 week scan and that’s her last one. I find this all so confusing. My sister in law said that where she lives I would be offered growth scans, but I don’t get them in my ccg, I guess.

@CollsR Had they said boy previously?

Looks like I was a few months after that faulty freezing solution, but that’s crazy, there must be some very devastated Guys patients out there.

@thislittlebird I've got scans lined up for 28, 32, 36 and 40 😂 I think for me it's a variety of things.

1: Son measured relatively small at birth so they wanted to do regular growth checks just in case.

2: Son developed an ectopic heartbeat at 40 weeks so they want to monitor this baby in case it has the same thing.

3: I had recurrent miscarriage before this pregnancy (all less than 10 weeks) so I think the consultant has given me those scans for my peace of mind too.

4: I have a low-lying placenta.

@BeDearPeachBird I think you'd be better off starting your own thread as you'll get more targeted responses.

thislittlebird · 14/02/2024 09:30

@TheBirdintheCave good that they’re checking on you. I think I have a low lying placenta but no one seems fussed by this 🤷‍♀️

I am very disappointed in the care really. They told me at the start I’d be referred based on my age, but not ivf because they don’t consider that any different now 🙄, and all I was referred for was an 8th May meeting with a consultant? for an induction to be scheduled. It’s very tiring. I can’t even find the guidance for my ccg, so I have no idea what should or should not be offerered.

TheBirdintheCave · 14/02/2024 09:40

@thislittlebird Really? That's surprising. Mine were very strict that I had to be monitored for the low lying placenta as it could affect how we give birth. If it's not moved by 32 weeks then I think it has to be a c-section.

CollsR · 14/02/2024 11:11

@KG1244 The gestational diabetes screening is only offered if you have 1 or more risk factors. Good you don’t need it. Feel free to check.

For a few reasons I’m classed as a high risk pregnancy so I’m having scans every 4 weeks to track baby’s growth. If I wasn’t high risk I’d just be seeing midwife for her to measure my tummy to roughly check growth.

CollsR · 14/02/2024 11:17

@thislittlebird Such a postcode lottery. Sorry you’re having this stress. In both North London and Kent IVF is a risk factor, but not a big one alone. I’m also overweight, over 40, had 5 abdominal surgeries 5-10yrs ago & have PCOS.

They had said it was a boy before. Nice to have it 100% confirmed before I buy some blue onesies. Though most stuff I buy will be gender neutral.

ASGIRC · 14/02/2024 13:14

Im in a different country, so obviously things are slightly different.
On the NHS you get 3 scans, 12, 20 and 30 weeks.
But because I also have a private OB, and she wants growth scans at 28 and 35 weeks, I am getting 3 growth scans!

Also, in Portugal the GD test is done as standard with the 2T bloods. And it is always the 2h fasting one.

So yesterday I realised I have thrown my folder with all my exams and scans out!!!! I was decluttering, and throwing old papers out, and must have put them on top of the folder, and then when the time came, I just picked it all up and put it all in the bin... Housekeeper came the next day and emptied the bins, so cant even check there! LOL

Fortunately, it shouldnt be too big an issue, as I can probably get copies. I do have the 30 week scan as photos on my phone, and have the pics of the 28 week scan online, just need to ask if they have a copy of the report as well!

thislittlenugget · 14/02/2024 13:19

Hello all! This is my first post on mumsnet... we found out I'm pregnant with our little IVF baby (or 'nugget' as we're calling them) just last week. So it's feeling pretty huge and sooo weird to see close family and friends and not be able to say anything! I'm only just over 4 weeks so VERY early in my journey but just wanted to pop on and say hello!

ASGIRC · 14/02/2024 15:38

@thislittlenugget Congrats!! Hope it all goes well for you! How exciting!

Over here were all in (or about to get into) our third trimester, so we might not be the best resource for your early stage, as we are going through different things now!
But obviously, you can "hang out" with us!
Whens your confirmation scan?

TheBirdintheCave · 14/02/2024 15:40

@thislittlenugget Welcome and congratulations :D

@ASGIRC Wow when you said that I suddenly realised how close we're getting to meeting these babies 😅

ASGIRC · 14/02/2024 15:42

@TheBirdintheCave I have an appointment with my OB on Monday, where Im gonna talk about dates... And if I have my way, I am having my baby in FIVE WEEKS!!!! FIVE WEEKS!! WTF?!??!?!

Currently 33 weeks/7.5 months pregnant!!!!!!!!!! How did this happen?????? (oh, I know how it happened... but the last couple of months have really flown by!)

TheBirdintheCave · 14/02/2024 16:16

@ASGIRC That's just crazy soon! 13 weeks to go for me!

@ASGIRC Oooops I'm so sorry, I clearly posted without really realising which board I was posting in!

I've found 'my people' now over in the October 2024 board, but thank you for welcoming me and huge good luck to you all in your third trimesters!

ASGIRC · 14/02/2024 16:45

@thislittlenugget Im glad you found a thread of people at the same stage!!! It will be invaluable, Im sure!

No need to apologise, though!!! Just wanted to let you know! And thank you!!
