I just think knowing it's in February should be enough. Some people are just too nosy!
Maybe I'm just a naggy pregnant woman today 🤣

Ihatewinding · 31/10/2023 21:32

@CheeseAndCrackersx I would keep your name choices to yourself if you can, people (especially family) seem to think their opinions matter more than yours honestly! We were set on our baby's name very early on, especially as had a NIPT so knew we were having a boy at 11 weeks. Defo preferred holding out like we did with my daughter. The comments and suggestions of alternatives are just getting annoying now Hmm

Thank god we will have a boy and a girl as we are sticking with 2 as my body won't hack another pregnancy, otherwise I'm sure I wouldn't hear the end of trying for a boy if this baby had been a girl😡sorry for the rant!

LavenderSweetPea · 01/11/2023 07:25

I've booked to start NCT baby class in December, they offer loads of face to face options near me and I really wanted that to meet other mums. I'd not heard of bump and baby before, although those classes do look good the one near me is fully booked now anyway. I guess with any class it's just luck of the draw what your group is like and whether you click.

LavenderSweetPea · 01/11/2023 07:29

Also, while we are being naggy pregnant women, @CheeseAndCrackersx I've not had anyone insist to know our baby name (yet) but I am getting frustrated with questions from random people about when we will have another. Like jeez people, I'm still feeling the pressure of trying to get this one here alive and well, and as for the next one since I'm in my thirties, it took years to have this one including quite a traumatic loss I guess the answer might be never. But thanks for rubbing it in 🙄

Whyyyy are so many so annoying!! I've had all sorts of comments too, gladly none yet about the when next one is - though I'm pretty certain as soon as I pop this baby out, they'll flood. However, I've had a continuous stream of absolutely ridiculous unsolicited advice from pretty much everyone that knows I'm pregnant. Horrified how it will be when I won't be able to hide this bump. How do you deflect all these opinions, ladies?

CheeseAndCrackersx · 01/11/2023 12:55

Is anyone here, especially those who have children already, negative blood type?

I am and I have to have some injection the end of this month.

But what I'd like to know is when I was first told I was that blood type I googled a lot and it sort of scared me a little cos if little man is positive blood group then I will have another injection when he's born which is fine but it said it can be a concern when or if I got pregnant again.

Does anyone know much in regards to that?

Or if any of you first time mums are the same and maybe you got told more info from your midwife that I didn't x

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/11/2023 12:56

So ladies had my "26weeks" midwife appointment today only thing is I'm 25+2 so she couldn't take bump measurement which is abit disappointing as I was expecting since I am close but she said she will take measurements of bump on my next midwife appointment which is in 3weeks time! Listening in to our little girls heartbeat was nice to hear, her HR was 142bpm 😊 also currently weighing 72.6kg now so put on just over 2kg since middle of September! Works out to 11stone 4pounds & I'm only 5ft4 🤣 anyone else have an upcoming mw appointment? Or have been? 😊

@CheeseAndCrackersx I am rhesus A negative. Had the anti D injections in both my previous pregnancies however (it’s been 5years since my last pregnancy and so many things seemed to have changed in that time) at my last blood tests they were able to find out baby’s blood group already (which I find mad 🤯) and they’ve said I won’t need the Anti D in this pregnancy.

But going back to your question.. it never caused any issues in my second pregnancy at all 😀

I have mine tomorrow, which is a 25 week appointment and expecting them to measure fundal height….it does seem a bit random depending on the district who does what. For example, my stomach hasn’t been palpated once, but my mum who is a midwife in wales said she would do this every appointment from the start.

I also have my 25 week appointment tomorrow! It's written as 25 weeks so I hope they do whatever needs to be done. Will report back!

Havanalily1806 · 01/11/2023 14:26

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX I had my appointment 2 weeks ago so I'd have been 24.

My bump wasn't measured, that wasn't mentioned, they did use the Doppler for the first time to hear the heartbeat. She said that my "bump looked how they'd expect" but no measurement was taken or anything else used.

She told me my bloods would be taken at my next appointment (28 weeks) and just discussed around reduced movements from 27 weeks and what to do (midwife at my appt before that said from 28 weeks but I wasn't keen on her at all, this one seemed much more personable and informed, my appt before that I just felt like she was going through a tick box). Neither are my actual midwife.

I haven't been weighed since my first appointment and can't think of anything else that happened

Sunshineclouds11 · 01/11/2023 15:13

I had MW today, 25 week app,

All looking good.

Bloods, weight and bump measurement at 28 week app.

Can't believe from 28 week app we are
There every 2/3 weeks!

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/11/2023 17:23

It's strange ladies depending on where you live and what trust they do things so differently don't they 🤔 like here they do bump measurement from 26weeks then it goes onto a growth chart, I was only a few days off so thought she might of still done it but she said they have to stick to the current guidelines which states from 26.. next appointment in 3 weeks she will then start to measure my bump, do bloods & weigh me other than that I don't know what else 😂 but i also have 3 growth scans at 28, 32 & 36 weeks.. @Sunshineclouds11 its crazy isn't it? 3rd trimester from 28weeks we will all be in 😊 then from 30weeks I always do the 10week count down 🤣 although I've only had 1 baby who came @39+6 typically 🤣

Where are you @MummyTo4BoysXXXX ?

Have most of your babies been early?

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 01/11/2023 20:53

@Sunshineclouds11 I'm from/live in York 😊 what about you?.. & no only had 1 son(my 2nd) preterm at 36+4.. then funny enough my last 2 sons both had them at 37+5 (latest son was through induction though due to GD & other complications) all 3 others were spontaneous labours. Going to be interesting when this little lady plans to arrive I think 😂 Have you gone into labour early? x

anony1111 · 01/11/2023 21:32

@CheeseAndCrackersx I also have a negative blood type and had the anti-d injection with my first baby. Back then (6years ago) they gave anyone with negative blood the injection. This time round I have had my blood taken and they can tell babies blood type from that, which blows my mind!
I'm booked in for the injection in December.
I haven't had any problems since the injection or with this pregnancy due to previously having the anti-d injection.
Its much safer to have the injection to prevent rhesus disease if yours and baby's blood cross during birth

CheeseAndCrackersx · 01/11/2023 22:12

Thank you so much @anony1111 & @CharXo 😀 you've both eased my mind. Xx

novamama · 02/11/2023 10:34

Just had my 25 week appointment. Had the regular blood pressure and urine test.
Midwife measured fundal height and we listened to baby. She said baby HR is being only measured from 28 weeks so no counting today. She said my weight isn't taken until the very end. Blood tests happen in the next appointment.

Hope that helps!

DmcinT · 02/11/2023 11:02

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX funny how its different in different parts of the Uk, I’d assume it would be the same protocols.

im not in the Uk but at my GP appointments every 4 weeks she measures my bump with a measuring tape and tracks that it’s growing at the correct rate against a chart. she has a scanner and will sometimes scan me but uses the Doppler to check heart rate at every appointment.

At my Consultant apps she never measures me, she just scans me.

im in for the Glucose test now in a few days, I hear it’s pretty vile 🙈🤢

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 02/11/2023 11:21

@DmcinT hahaha tbh I like the taste of the glucose drink 🤭😂

OP posts:
LavenderSweetPea · 02/11/2023 12:02

My glucose test isn't for another 3 weeks :( I'll be nearly 29 weeks by that point so it feels a little late. I'm worried because at 25 week appointment they did measure my bump which was measuring large, and babys heartrate was knd of fast as well.

redxlondon · 02/11/2023 13:39

I just had my midwife appointment, I’m exactly 25 weeks today. It included:

  • Urine test
  • Blood pressure
  • Palaption to check baby position
  • Measured fundal height
  • Discussed talking to baby now and skin contact post birth
  • Got my MATB1 - which is cutting it fine!! Gave it to HR straight after.

Booked in for 28 weeks where they’ll do blood tests.

My weight hasn’t been taken since booking appointment so I’m tracking myself.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 02/11/2023 13:53

My gd and next midwife appointment is 2 weeks today. I'll be 27 weeks.
I'm not sure whether midwife will measure me then as I am due a 28 week growth scan which I still haven't had through.
Then I think my 32,36 & 38 scans will be with the consultant.

Sunshineclouds11 · 02/11/2023 13:54

Oh I don't have my MATB1 form!

CharXo · 02/11/2023 14:28

Ahh I don’t have my MATB1 form either! My manager keeps asking for it but I don’t see my midwife until my end of the month for my 28 week appointment. I have only seen her twice so far; my booking appointment and then 16 weeks! Such a big gap inbetween appointments but she said it’s because I’ve had previous pregnancies so she doesn’t need to see me as often!
