I'm due 25th June 2024. So am 5+2 today. Very sore boobs and very tired. Also very thirsty. Anyone due around the same time and would like a support thread? This is my 2nd. Dd is 8, will be nearly 9 when baby comes. Let's share stories, symptoms and have a good moan when we need it!

Hi All
I’m 18 + 4 now and I’m so ill! I’ve got a horrible cold, sore throat, ears hurt, the whole shabang! Anyone else suffered a cold they can’t get rid of or have any tips on getting rid?! Suffering so much, can’t breathe as it is without a blocked nose!! Sickness has just stopped thankfully but as some of you have mentioned too, I don’t know where this second trimester energy is as I haven’t found any of it at all. Hope everyone is feeling good :) xx

TeamSpike · 13/01/2024 10:49

Sounds like everyone is moving on from the sickness which is great. I've been having headaches too. Still not feeling very energetic either. DP has gone to aldi this morning so I'm hoping he'll bring back a few bits. Anyone struggling with names? I know we've got ages but it feels like we're not going to agree. My hormones are having fun with me as well. I've been a moody cow for weeks. My sex drive has fallen off a cliff as well. And I keep crying because I feel guilty for being like it 😆 all fun and games isn't it

Oh I will have to check out what Aldi have in!

With names we are thinking Ivy (we've had our hearts set on it since I got pregnant) but it seems quite popular which is putting us off. DH loves Grace but I prefer Gracie. Her middle name will defo be Mary

Suchardchoccy · 13/01/2024 12:17

Sorry *since BEFORE I got pregnant

TeamSpike · 13/01/2024 13:40

We've got too many we like at the moment. Hard to narrow it down!

At least we have plenty of time 😊

Couggstar123 · 14/01/2024 17:08

@TeamSpike i am so chuffed to be having a boy but my god I envy you getting to chose a girls name! Boys names are so hard! We have a shortlist but think I won’t know until he’s here! Change my mind every 5 mins! 🤣

bstar2024 · 14/01/2024 17:32

We aren't finding out babies gender - but have picked a girls name and a boys name for when they arrive 🩷🩵

Hello all, first time mummy to be due 14th June. I’m 18+4 weeks and full of anxiety after 2 miscarriages before this one. This is the furthest I’ve got in my pregnancies before and have my anomaly scan in 10days, but I’m unsure whether I’ve felt baby move and it’s making me so nervous.

I am due around the same time (11th June). This is my second and I haven't had any definite movements yet either - I think it's very common.
I always get scan-anxiety too after previous losses! Try and relax over the next 10 days - I am sure it will fly by.

Couggstar123 · 15/01/2024 13:24

@AprilShwrs i am also due 14th June, also had 2 miscarriages before this pregnancy and also have my scan in 10 days 😂

Not going to lie, I’ve not really enjoyed a second of this pregnancy because I’ve been so convinced something would go wrong. I get such severe anxiety before scans I can’t even let myself feel excited. I’m not even a particularly anxious person but I just haven’t been able to relax at all yet. We have paid for a few extra scans which I have found reassuring but only for a short time.

I also am quite unsure about what is baby movement and what is basically my bowels 😂 sometimes I am so convinced it’s baby and then I start to doubt myself and the worry takes over again. Hopefully we both start to feel movement soon and it helps settle our minds. I keep reminding myself that at the gender scan he was moving so much and kicking me loads and I couldn’t feel a thing so it’s not that he’s not moving, it’s just that I’m not feeling it yet!

Hope the next ten days passes quickly for you and your scan goes well! Sooo nearly half way! 🥰

AprilShwrs · 15/01/2024 14:55

@Couggstar123 oh birth day buddies!! It will be interesting to see who pops first! Congratulations on your boy!! do you have names picked yet?

I haven’t enjoyed much of this pregnancy either, and anytime I found myself even verging on joy and excitement, I feel something that sends me panicking and reminding myself that despite being past “safety zone” nothing is certain.

I wasn’t aware you could pay to have scans done outside of the NHS, and my midwife never mentioned that either when I voiced my concerns regarding the wait between scans and my anxiety about it. Bit disappointing but nevermind.

This is my thing too, I’ve been so constipated the last week or so I don’t know what’s caused by the, what’s left over from the nausea and what might be baby. 🫣 No matter how many times I read that it can be anywhere as late as 20weeks until you feel baby, I wish I could feel something to put my mind at easy whilst I wait for the next scan!

@waster86 10 looooong days and fingers crossed I’ll get to see my little dancer again, and finally find out whether we’re having a boy or a girl! Trying to stay calm and positive. Made my first baby purchases last week to manifest good vibes!

Sandytoes66 · 15/01/2024 15:24

Hi @AprilShwrs @Couggstar123
So sorry you're finding it so stressful and it's totally understandable. I was really stressed during my first pregnancy and it ruined the experience. One thing that I realised what that there's not really anything that will provide long term reassurance (tough but true!) as even with extra scans, or when you start feeling movement, you then start worrying that you're not feeling them enough/too little/not normal, etc. My one bit of advice (not that you've asked, but it helped me) was CBT worked really well - addressing the fear, jotting it down for a later 'worry time', then doing something to keep yourself busy. Try to keep the worry time to 15 mins and once you've addressed the worry, try and put it out of your mind. Pregnancy is so unbelievably stressful, but this time I've really tried to cling on to the fact it's all out of our/my control and we just have to trust things are OK, until they're not. I'm sorry if this isn't helpful, but seeing your messages really struck a chord with me! Sending all good wishes and always up for a chat if it helps!

Mills1991 · 15/01/2024 16:51

@AprilShwrs @Couggstar123 Sorry you are both feeling so anxious and your past experiences. I hope after your scans you find comfort and can try to enjoy the process.

I’m due 11th June so close to you both, my first too. I haven’t felt the baby but I have had a few scans up to now and honestly been told so many times it’s really normal not to feel anything until 20/21 weeks. I’ve also been told it depends where your placenta is placed as mine is in a position where they said I might feel flutters and kicks a bit later than others too. Lots of factors!

Hope you’re scans go well I’m sure they will :) x

TeamSpike · 15/01/2024 17:17

Sending good vibes to everyone. Saw my midwife today. Had some bloods done. And she let me listen to the heartbeat which was lovely. Got my 20 week scan next week even though I'll only be 19 weeks then. I'm under a consultant this time so I'm expecting lots of appointments and blood tests and growth scans.

We also bought a few bits on the weekend from Aldi. Got some comforters, blankets and muslins. Am looking forward to getting some storage and filling it up with outfits and the like ☺️

Is anyone considering hypnobirthing?

AprilShwrs · 16/01/2024 13:15

@Mills1991 I was about to say, oh my another baby so close to my due date- what are the chances? And then realised that this is a June baby thread. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Clearly baby brain is starting to take effect.

@Sandytoes66 I do try not to dwell on the negatives, but some days the waves are hard to keep your head above. Might be something to do with fluctuating pregnancy emotions too 😅 I just genuinely think I’ll worry from time to time for most, if not the entire pregnancy until baby is in my arms. But thank you for your wishes!

@TeamSpike you’re lucky! I saw my midwife last week and she told me there wasn’t any point in trying to listen to baby because if she couldn’t find the heartbeat (which was likely) she didn’t want to panic me and have to send me off for emergency scans. Kinda wish I’d convinced her to try now- at least either way I would have had some peace of mind 😅 If you haven’t already, are you finding out what sex the baby is? I’ve refrained from buying too much until we know what we’re having!

@Suchardchoccy what is hypnobirthing exactly?

TeamSpike · 16/01/2024 13:40

@AprilShwrs yeah I said to her that I didn't think they did the heartbeat anymore abs she said they didn't have to but she liked to so that was nice. Yes we had a private scan at 16 weeks, we're having a girl ☺️

Suchardchoccy · 16/01/2024 14:21

@AprilShwrs from what I have read it's mainly breathing and affirmations. I'm not a believer that I can actually hypnotise myself. But with my last birth I really struggled with anxiety and panic and that's what I really don't want to do this time. I was to be in control and stay focused and calm

Suchardchoccy · 16/01/2024 14:21

*I want to be

Couggstar123 · 16/01/2024 16:47

@Sandytoes66@Mills1991 thanks so much for being so kind. It’s just a worry but I’m managing not to spiral. Trash reality TV is an excellent distraction 🤣 would just be nice to be able to able to relax and enjoy the experience! We actually felt him moving and kicking loads last night which was so nice as I was defo in a worry cycle of am I even still pregnant? My partner could feel him for the first time so that was lovely for him.

@Sandytoes66 i am having an elective section so 14th will be eviction day unless he decides to make an early arrival! 🤣 I feel like the weeks will fly in though and it will be worth all the worry…and a new world of worries will begin ahahha!

AprilShwrs · 16/01/2024 16:54

@TeamSpike my midwife just seemed too busy. I feel like my area is overwhelmed and they have lost empathy for their ladies a little. But that could just be my experience. Oh wonderful, congratulations on your little princess! Lots of cute little outfits on your horizon!!

@Suchardchoccy i don’t think I could make it through the kind of pain everyone says to expect on breathing and affirmations alone 😅 I’ve been asked about water births, but again I’m not really sure what the pro’s and con’s are to make any decisions yet.

Suchardchoccy · 16/01/2024 17:44

@AprilShwrs I absolutely agree 😂 is this your first? I was in the water for my first for a while but I didn't give birth in the water. With my second I gave birth in the water and the water does definitely help! I want to hire a pool for home this time. The problem with water birth is obviously the limited pain relief, but my second came too quickly for anything except gas and air so I'm expecting the same this time too - a bit of calmness and control is what I need this time (If pain relief isn't an option again 😭)

Sorry @AprilShwrs meant to reply to you at the end there! I don’t know why but I think 14thJune is a lovely due date 🤣🤣🤣 right in time for Father’s Day 🩵

AprilShwrs · 16/01/2024 19:54

@Suchardchoccy yeah, this is my first! I have heard some women say that it kinda makes the need for pain relief less? It’s supposed to be very relaxing though? But I certainly need to do more research!

@Couggstar123 no worries! Yes definitely! My partner was the one to bring that to my attention and said to both our dads when we revealed the news, that it’d be just in time for them to spend their first Father’s Day as Grandads!! Knowing my luck though I’ll go over my due 😅
