Hi ladies, I couldn’t find another thread made, so made this as the other one was full. I will try tag a few people … if you can also tag.

Good luck @Onethingiwantfor23. I hope all goes well and you get to meet your little one without too much waiting.

I'm really struggling with sleep the last few days, just seem to be awake half the night unable to get back to sleep 😴

Desperado123 · 10/10/2023 07:42

@Onethingiwantfor23 good luck!

Desperado123 · 10/10/2023 07:44

@Koalawhala same same. It's very boring

GemmaJen · 10/10/2023 08:00

@Koalawhala same, wake up at 2 and if I'm lucky I might get another hour 6-7am. I'm shattered 😴

Had a growth scan yesterday, all looking good and baby boy is engaged 2/5. But no more signs of imminent labour. Section pre op booked in for Monday.

Koalawhala · 10/10/2023 08:09

@Desperado123 @GemmaJen its painful isn’t it. I also seem to manage 6-7am but then the alarm goes off for school! I’m not great at napping during the day but am going to try and get some rest at least today. Hope you can too

Sagittarius25 · 10/10/2023 08:13

Those that have had your babies, is it nice to have your body back to yourself? (Although it is recovering and probably painful in more than one area)

As much as I'm feeling nervous for birth and just wondering when it will all happen and how in the end (no induction or c section planned here - yet) I'm trying to remind myself to look forward to having my body back to myself and just being less large 😂

peonygirl · 10/10/2023 08:27

@Onethingiwantfor23 Good luck! Just know you are not the only one nervous, it is normal and the teams are used to this, they should help you enjoy the experience - meeting your little one!

AlongcameLainey · 10/10/2023 08:28

Hey all. I’ve not posted on here for such a long time but I’m now on maternity leave and have time to catch up!

Congrats to all the mummas who have welcomed their babies already ❤️ Hope you are all recovering well x

I am 39 weeks today. Had to go for a scan last week to check babies position but all good 😊

Struggling with lack of sleep and coping with a 3 y/o 😴

With my first I had acupuncture to induce at 12pm on her date and had my first contraction at 5pm which led to her arrival so I am trying to decide whether to do this again or not. I’m kind of getting impatient now 😅

thecatsthecats · 10/10/2023 08:52

@Sagittarius25 I want to know this too!

I know that once the baby is here I'll still be sharing it in some ways and I'll be knackered etc, but I just want to be one person again (one with a large glass of wine in hand).

Desperado123 · 10/10/2023 09:54

@Koalawhala @GemmaJen also the same, 6 - 7am can get an hour in, though not this morning thanks to the very noisy bin men. Maybe one day will have a full night's sleep!

At least I will know when I next can't sleep that there are other women out there looking at the clock and quietly swearing to themselves

Koalawhala · 10/10/2023 10:24

@Desperado123 i often look at this thread at night when I can’t get back to sleep! It is nice to know other people are in the same boat. and we’ll all be up at night with our babies too.

With a planned c section I was feeling quite good about going into it so well rested 😂

Smiffette · 10/10/2023 10:33

@AlongcameLainey I'm 39 weeks today too, also with a 3 yo! Shes off nursery today though otherwise I would be doing everything I could to induce Labour! I'll have to hope she's ok to go back tomorrow so I can spend the day walking, bouncing, spicy food and tea!!

AlongcameLainey · 10/10/2023 11:22

@Smiffette Ahh yes. I haven’t actually tried anything at home yet. I do have a hankering for pineapple atm but I have new flooring going down in a couple of days so hoping to get that finished first 😅

Summer022 · 10/10/2023 13:04

Hey ladies, just wanted to check in! Baby boy is 10 days old now - he was 4lbs 10oz when he was born and we ended up in hospital for 5 days while he gained some weight - he’s back above his birth weight now!

Just regarding the questions about having body back post birth, I have found it absolutely liberating 😆 Having my baby boy
here and being able to take care of him without having the pregnancy hormones/struggling to do absolutely anything due to the weight of my bump is just the best feeling. I feel like myself again being just one person and being his mummy is just the privilege of my life.

The sleep deprivation genuinely feels less bad than pregnancy sleep
deprivation, at least when I do get sleep
now, I can be super comfy without all the
hip pain/back pain and can sleep on my
back again!!! All totally worth it ❤️ xxx

katherine123x · 10/10/2023 13:18

@Summer022 could NOT agree more with the sleep!
It's like the sleep quality is so much better! Towards the end I needed a nap (2 hour sleep) most days! Like it's hard but I'm not completely and utterly exhausted every second of the day!!

ttcttc · 10/10/2023 14:36

Just seen the midwife this morning... baby has moved and is now back to back 🤦🏼‍♀️

NSx · 10/10/2023 15:04

@ttcttc i was told by the hospital that this isn’t a problem, that you only need the baby to be facing the other way for Labour, as my baby was the same. How far along are you?

It's not a problem and I can still go naturally but it's longer and harder usually in labour. Plus more painful and increases likelihood of epidural because of pressure on the spine. Baby may turn in labour, it may turn before or it may not. Just one of them things. Midwife said try bouncing on the ball but I'm not hopeful lol

38+3

Smiffette · 10/10/2023 17:32

@ttcttc my first was back to back although I didn't know that until after Labour.
I had a water birth and the midwife had his hand on my lower back most of the time which really helped.
I didn't find the Labour that bad, obviously nothing to compare it to and I know all pain thresholds are different. I had about 2 hours of pushing, and felt like it was a bit frustrating as it seemed like the head was right there for ages.

ttcttc · 10/10/2023 17:35

@Smiffette it will be what it will be won't it but ideally baby will turn. They didn't seem too concerned but just another thing to think about. Midwife said to try bouncing on the ball but we will see

NSx · 10/10/2023 20:19

@ttcttc I’m in the same boat 😂😅 … albeit 4 days behind you ….
fingers crossed for both of us !

@NSx anymore luck with the colostrum? Xx

New2thisss · 10/10/2023 20:56

Baby girl was born via forcep delivery in theatre on Monday 9th October @ 09.14am weighing 7lb 9oz 🥰 goodluck to everyone due this month, it’s the most amazing experience 🩷

doeandfawn · 10/10/2023 23:14

@New2thisss congratulations!! Hope you and baby girl are settling well ❤️

Onethingiwantfor23 · 11/10/2023 06:46

Thanks everyone. Baby boy was born at 9:05am yesterday weighing 9lbs 2.5oz (I had gestational diabetes). He had a few problems with his breathing and low muscle tone at birth so I didn't see him properly for the first hour. He was going to Nicu but turned a corner last minute and he's mostly fed and slept and just being perfect. Long may it continue!

Good luck to everyone else xx
