Hi ladies, I couldn’t find another thread made, so made this as the other one was full. I will try tag a few people … if you can also tag.

Is anyone breastfeeding and how are they finding it? My baby has been latched all day. And I mean all day. I've maybe had an hour where he hasn't been on me 😂

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 04/11/2023 16:51

@Esl17 another confirmation by a head midwife at MDU that Spritz for Bits is an absolute nightmare for episiotomy sites! She said that the problem with it is it keeps the area damp so infection spreads more quickly (which we think is what happened to me!) on antibiotics now!

Onethingiwantfor23 · 04/11/2023 17:16

@BeaKind @kingfisher168 @katherine123x Thank you. I've ordered some infacol on Amazon and it'll be here by 10pm tonight! 🤞🏻

katherine123x · 04/11/2023 18:23

@Onethingiwantfor23 let us know how you get on with it .... I ordered two. One for downstairs one for upstairs 😂 anything for an easy life. See how you get on but might be easier. Especially when you have changing bags etc etc

Esl17 · 04/11/2023 20:36

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween we’re all wise in hindsight I guess! What a waste of £20! My antibiotics did kick in quickly and seemed to do the trick - hopefully yours do too!

BeaKind · 04/11/2023 21:40

@ttcttc my first was like this. I vividly remember one day when my husband got in from work and I had not moved off the sofa. I said to him that I only wanted to do one thing that day which was to take some dead flowers to the green bin and I didn’t even manage to do that! I think in hindsight my lb had a dairy intolerance as he fed for ages then 10 mins later was unsettled and had to feed again. He also had mucuosy nappies. Unfortunately due to Covid we had no visits from health visitors and were lead to believe it was normal. He was like this for a few months tbh 😬

Yours could be cluster feeding though, which is very normal and a way that they up your supply before a growth spurt.

This time round it’s going much easier for us and our little girl feeds every 2-3 hours. That could all change though!

How’s your afternoon/evening been?

Midwives think it's all normal but we will see.

It's been ok he hasn't fed so much tonight I'm just feeding him now before I try and put him down. He's only A week old so all new to him too.

I was the same today. all I wanted was a shower and change out of a top before the midwife popped in. I'd have been happy with one or the other. In the end I unlatched him as I needed the toilet, I needed to change my Sanitary as I could feel that (tmi I know) and passed him to dad and said good luck. I had a quick shower too and went back. He was fine just not nice hearing them cry is it

Baby cuddles are the best 🩷🥰

NSx · 05/11/2023 10:02

thanks @peonygirl @cruciverbalista @Koalawhala I’m trying to take it easy but it really is hard when you’re in hospital at night on your own! Hope you’re all loving being in your baby bubbles ✨🤍

@xLMCx congratulations to you too babe can’t believe you beat me 😂😂😂😂 mine really didn’t want to come it seems 😂😂🩷🩷✨✨✨

Hospital nights are tough @NSx, just keep pressing your buzzer! Do you know how long you will have to stay in?

I am loving our baby bubble, although a c section recovery isn’t a walk in the park I’ve actually enjoyed the enforced rest to enjoy baby and be at home. Time is going so fast, our little girl is 2 weeks old tomorrow already

xLMCx · 05/11/2023 10:56

@NSx oh my gosh, I know! I definitely expected to be the last one on this thread but yours turned out to be a little more stubborn than mine 😂🩷

I hope you can get discharged soon so that you can start family life with little one in your safe space!

Also I have been catching up on the thread about the spritz spray stuff. I had an episiotomy with my first child and just used to sit in a bath of warm water for 10/15 mins each night to clear. I had a second degree tear this time around so probably about the same or less damage wise and the nurse was happy for me to do the same thing again to prevent infections to the site. Sorry for those that have had to go on antibiotics - I imagine it's not the most ideal thing to be happening with a newborn in toe! Sending sympathies x

ttcttc · 05/11/2023 11:42

@NSx congratulations!! I found hospital difficult too as couldn't get out of the bed easy. When I was moving the electrics I just ended up sandwiched 😂

Why did you end up with a section? I did too so just curious x

Esl17 · 05/11/2023 12:18

@xLMCx i was told not to have a bath just showers as it would dissolve my stitches too quickly - so hard to know what to do with lots of conflict ion advice. I’ve been dying for a bath, might chance one tonight as baby was 3 weeks old yesterday and episiotomy finally looks like it’s settling down and healing nicely. Which seems easier so far - the episiotomy or the tear? I know neither are pleasant! Xx

OrionNebula · 05/11/2023 15:33

Congrats @NSx!

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 05/11/2023 15:42

@Esl17 same re advice on the bath, was told not to have a bath for 4-6 weeks as can speed up disintegration of the stitches, cannot WAIT for a nice hot one! I have both a second degree tear and the episiotomy and find the tear much less painful (also didn’t need stitches as they heal so much better on their own compared to a surgical cut). Antibiotics are kicking in and I’m already in so so much less pain!

NSx · 05/11/2023 17:42

@Koalawhala to be fair the midwives have been really good with me, so can’t complain, but found the first night with a new born, operation wound and a catheter quite challenging. It’s becoming a bit easier now the catheter is gone 😅😅😅 … 2 weeks can’t believe that. My baby came so late as we were due dates apart (I know you had yours a bit earlier right enough)

@xLMCx haha yes my girl is defo a little stubborn, I’m so glad they both got here in the end; better late than never 🩷🩷🩷

@ttcttc so I was 10 days overdue, they tried to give me a balloon catheter on day +8 which was actually horrendous and was removed 4h later, to which they tried to induce me with the gel! That too knocked me sick I was violently ill and ended up on morphine by midnight and anti sickness injections. They then moved me to the Labour ward another 24h later and basically … started me with an epidural and hormone drip but 12 hours later really not much was happening and I was max 4cm. Me and baby girl were both getting tired so they decided to call to a day and get her out!

thanks @OrionNebula ✨✨

@Esl17 and @FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween ohhh how weird, I asked if I could treat it the same as last time and they had no issues at all. I have the community midwife coming tomorrow so I'll double check with her just incase she recommends something different. Only had two 15 minute baths so far so hopefully not too much damage has been done to them 🤞🏻

@NSx yes, that's all that matters in the end of course. I'm sorry to hear that you were put around the ringer with it all though, hopefully it gets a little easier here on out for you 🤞🏻

ttcttc · 05/11/2023 19:49

@NSx sounds like you've had a tough few days but she's here now. Wishing you a speedy recovery x

Esl17 · 05/11/2023 20:33

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween cant believe you have both you poor thing! Xx

katherine123x · 05/11/2023 20:36

Anyone had a 6 week check yet??

NSx · 05/11/2023 20:46

@xLMCx @ttcttc yea it was a rough ride, but here’s hoping for a smooth part now.

hope both your little ones are doing well 🤍🤍🤍
