Hi ladies, I couldn’t find another thread made, so made this as the other one was full. I will try tag a few people … if you can also tag.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
xLMCx · 05/11/2023 21:55

@NSx yes, I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏻🩷

Yeah Felicity is doing well so far, we have been blessed with a very relaxed baby so far (unlike my son when he was newborn) so I'm taking advantage of it until all hell breaks loose with sleep regressions, witching hours and teething stints 😂😂

Hope everyone is enjoying their baby bubbles too 🥰

Koalawhala · 06/11/2023 10:02

@NSx gosh you did have to wait didn’t you. Mine was a c section 5 days early, I was pretty uncomfortable at that point so can’t imagine waiting another couple of weeks!

Hopefulx · 06/11/2023 11:22

Morning all! Congratulations on the rest of the babies.. has everyone had their baby now? 💙🩷

is anyone else suffering with night sweats? My baby girl is nearly 3 weeks now and every night I wake up dripping in sweat. I thought it might ease off by week 3 but they are still happening. Just wondered if anyone else is having them and when did they stop? It’s not causing any issues but I’m having to keep washing my bedding 😂

katherine123x · 06/11/2023 12:48

@Hopefulx mine stopped between 3&4 weeks but omg I was sweating!!!! It suddenly just stopped!

Hopefulx · 06/11/2023 13:19

@katherine123x I’m glad it’s not just me! That’s good to know, I hope im the same as you as in ready to wake up and not feel disgusting 😂

All, has anyone got their babies heel prick blood test results back? If so how long did it take x

Maya34 · 06/11/2023 13:21

@Hopefulx I got baby heel blood result back in 9 days

katherine123x · 06/11/2023 13:36

@Hopefulx mine was about 2 weeks in the post

Smiffette · 06/11/2023 13:57

@Hopefulx I got mine back in the post yesterday so just under two weeks.

BeaKind · 06/11/2023 15:55

@Hopefulx I’m still having night sweats too. Our little girl is 3 weeks on Wednesday. So horrible! The amount of washing I’m creating and really don’t need right now! 😅

peonygirl · 06/11/2023 16:09

@Koalawhala in regards to the sling - the baby is still too little to effectively slot into a sling but he loved it when we tried. I will give it another go in about 3 weeks when he's going to be a bit bigger. I think it will be a game changer for me so I will be able to keep the baby close and still get to do some work.

Post-csection recovery: I needed to recover really quickly because of all the things happening around us and I am now giving my body some rest. My wound is healing nicely and I am told all is well. I have muscle strength back but generally still wear pregnancy jeans so that the wound is covered with a soft material. Apart from the first day after the catheter was out and the first walk down the hospital corridor which felt like hell, I found recovery surprisingly easy. I also had a very straightforward section with no complications so I couldn't be happier.

After a lot of work, worries, and discussions, I have made a decision today to bottle-feed the baby and keep him on formula. I felt really bad because I wanted to breastfeed so much but it is just not working for us. I will keep offering breastfeeding as a top up, but he is eating around 60ml every 2 hours which is simply too much for my body to produce. I feel better now that the decision has been made.

I had some night sweats last week but they seemed to regulate by now. I am generally really cold at night, keeping the temperature at 19 degrees for the baby is very hard on me, I prefer around 21.

katherine123x · 06/11/2023 17:16

@peonygirl sticking to our theme of being the same. Breastfeeding decision made here too. After tears and talking it through with hubby it makes the best sense for baby me and us as a family. It's just not working out. Bubba has oral thrush now too 😫

Breast feeding is so pushed into us that the guilt is unbelievable ..... quite honestly makes me feel like complete rubbish!!!!

Trying to work out how to express a small amount but not too much to stop production but not get blocked ducts!!

ttcttc · 07/11/2023 20:42

The night sweats! Another thing nobody has told me about and I didn't expect. I also get really cold late afternoon and can't get warm, it seems better today but over the last week has been awful. Not sure if it's hormones or the amount of blood I lost !

Onethingiwantfor23 · 08/11/2023 17:49

So, infacol isn't helping and my 4 week old is waking from sleep in agony with his tummy. It's worse from late afternoon til bedtime (10pm) and today he cried like I've never heard him before (which made me cry as he was inconsolable). I've now bought gripe water to try instead.
Should I be looking out for signs of silent reflux? (I'm breastfeeding)

BeaKind · 08/11/2023 18:05

Aw @Onethingiwantfor23 it’s so hard isn’t it. When I mentioned it to HV before she just said it was normal as their digestive system is developing. I thought “so we’re just meant to leave them to suffer!? 🤷‍♀️”. The Infacol only worked for us after we upped the amount to 2 droppers. Not sure if you are there yet? We also bought Colief as I had read good things about that but when it arrived the Infacol had just started working.

Colief sounds good too but I think a bit daddy if your breastfeeding (we are too) as you have to express some milk first and add the drops to it then administer with a teaspoon 😬

I’m not sure of the signs of silent reflux but know a sign of dairy intolerance would be mucuosy/slimy nappies.

Onethingiwantfor23 · 08/11/2023 19:59

@BeaKind I did 2 today but seeing him so upset this afternoon made me go out and buy gripe water. I probably should have given it a bit longer. He's not really bringing any wind up which can't be helping. He has plenty of bottom burps though 😁

I've not heard of colief - I'll keep it in mind incase the gripe water doesn't work.
The midwife did say the other day that the digestive system is still developing.
It's so sad to see them in so much pain isn't it.

cruciverbalista · 08/11/2023 21:57

@Onethingiwantfor23 have you noticed any relationship between his symptoms and your diet? Have heard, for example, veggies like brassicas can be hard on them to digest.

Onethingiwantfor23 · 09/11/2023 09:22

@cruciverbalista no, no change to diet.

peonygirl · 13/11/2023 09:00

It's very quiet here - I guess we all are just trying to survive :)

On the subject of Infacol - do people give this at every feed? I see massive change when I give it to him but he's feeding every 2h so I also don't want to over do it. Any advice?

@Onethingiwantfor23 my boy also suffers more in the late afternoon and at night time so I suspect there's a change in metabolism at that time. Not sure, but there's a pattern to when he's behaving differently with exactly the same feeding pattern. He's bottle fed so that eliminates any changes to my diet. I have also noticed they go through rapid growth spurs and they need more food - I can spot different cry for food than the one for tummy and I am adjusting the quantity every week.

katherine123x · 13/11/2023 19:47

@peonygirl every feed here ... if I remember !!

Smiffette · 13/11/2023 20:26

My little one is doing well with feeds and isn't having a problem with getting wind out. He does seem to be having difficulty with bowel movements though.... he hasn't had one in a few days and when he does it's so minimal.

I read with breastfed babies as long as they have 3-4 a week that's fine.

He's also jaundice and we are going for a blood test tomorrow. Not sure if it's linked or not but I will Mention it as he seems uncomfortable with it.

I know my midwife mentioned that their digestive system is still quite immature so it can take a little bit of time to settle.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Onethingiwantfor23 · 13/11/2023 23:06

@peonygirl That's good that you can recognise the cry. I went from infacol to gripe water and he's become sicky. He's still screaming out in discomfort but not so bad.

@Smiffette my 5 week old (tomorrow) still has jaundice and is seeing the prolonged jaundice team next week. He also goes a few days without a pooh and then does a small amount. He's actually looked quite yellow the last couple of days so I'm going to call them tomorrow for an earlier appointment if possible.

LWestYorks · 14/11/2023 06:54

Formula fed babies - how much oz are they taking and how often?

My boy will be 6 weeks on Wednesday and is sinking 5oz every 3/3.5 hours…I’m scared to up it to 6oz as he seems so young 😫 he also weighed 8lb 6 at birth and last week was 11lb 6 😬

My little one didn't pop for two days I think day 8-10 and then has been a little shitting machine since! He usually poos every feed .. which can seem monotonous because I'll change him before a feed and five minutes in I hear the eruption 😂. He isn't however gaining weight quick enough and health visitor noticed last week he is tongue tied. They're all different but try not to worry too much... said the mother who worries about everything 🤦🏼‍♀️

Koalawhala · 14/11/2023 08:52

Ok here with our 3 week old. C section recovery going ok, a bit slower than I thought but I’ve enjoyed the quiet few weeks with little one. I have my first outing planned later today so will see how that goes.

No colic symptoms here (yet!) but did have a scary breath holding type incident at the weekend where she seems to startle herself and took what felt like a long time to calm down and breathe properly. It was very scary. Has anyone ever had anything like that?

My baby was 6lb 2oz at birth and is now just shy of 4 weeks. He's taking 3oz of formula every 2h. I top up with breast milk if I have any. We have our last midwife's appointment today and I suspect they will ask me to up the formula feed to 4oz. So considering your boy was much bigger at birth and is 6 weeks now he is on a similar track. You can always call infant feeding team to check with them if you are unsure - I also feel feeding less is easier on his stomach but then if he is hungry and needs constant feeding it is also not good for him. Finding a balance is quite hard but I see him gaining weight and feeding regularly so I worry less.
