Hi ladies, I couldn’t find another thread made, so made this as the other one was full. I will try tag a few people … if you can also tag.

@Koalawhala thank you, that's reassuring as I definitely feel it mainly on one side. Hope you're on your way home shortly and enjoying your little girl.

peonygirl · 24/10/2023 18:31

@Koalawhala huge congratulations! Enjoy your little girl. As for meds - keep requesting it, don't feel shy. Also ask for laxatives!

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 25/10/2023 11:48

How are the other overdue mamas doing? I’m 9 days over today, so glad my induction is booked for Friday, I want to meet this kid! Boobs started properly leaking today - I’d actually stopped collecting collostrum because I ran out of syringes but grabbed a breast milk collection bag and hand expressed into that instead, I feel like my body is absolutely done with being pregnant too 😂

NSx · 25/10/2023 12:10

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween I’m due today, absolutely not a whisper of a birth 😂😂😂😂 very annoying - so can’t imagine how you’re feeling 👀 x

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween not over due (yet) but am due on Friday and again not a hint of anything happening 😂 getting a bit fed up but trying to remind myself to be patient and anything can start at any time!

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 25/10/2023 12:12

@NSx honestly it’s been so frustrating, going for daily walks has helped a bit though (and having regular movie nights!)

NSx · 25/10/2023 12:51

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween I feel you, I’m going for a wee walk later. I have a sweep booked for Friday!
have you tried clary sage oil?

OP posts:
FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 25/10/2023 13:04

@NSx yup, used up a whole bottle of the damn stuff 😂 so far I’ve done literally everything from kerb walking to yoga to eating dates to the tea to expressing to sex and more! And the baby just sits happily in there - I think there’s probably just a lot of truth to ‘they come when they come’ (frustrating as it is for us mums to be!)

NSx · 25/10/2023 13:07

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween 😂😂😂😂 do you just add a couple of drops into your bath? I was going to get some today 😂 … have been eating dates and I hate the tea it gives me heartburn but still drank it 😂 ….
will try the kerb walking later 😂

OP posts:
FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 25/10/2023 13:13

@NSx yup! So I did a combo of it in the bath but also mixed with a carrier oil (like coconut oil) on my belly and wrists - I think walking, expressing and stretches have made me feel closest to going into labour but honestly god knows!

peonygirl · 25/10/2023 13:25

Mamas who are overdue - I wish you all to go into labor soon and cuddle the little ones. But do know everything has its positives: your babes will be fully developed and their lungs and stomachs will be better equipped than if they'd be induced earlier. My little boy is really little, and we are now trying to get his weight up. He's perfect but it is a lot of work to actually keep him fed, his stomach is just tiny. As much as it is painful to wait, those movie nights sound delightful - I think I won't have one until the wee one is ready for a Frozen marathon :D D

Hugs, mamas! You got this.

NSx · 25/10/2023 16:14

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween It’s such a minefield isn’t it really …. Did the midwife mention if your babies head is engaged, when I went last Thursday it was very low but not quite engaged (I know some don’t engage until Labour) but it’s just annoying me 😂😂😂

OP posts:
ttcttc · 25/10/2023 20:30

@NSx I've been 3/5 2/5 2/5 engaged for my last few appointments. Went yesterday and although cervix was closed I was 4/5... progression I thought but soon realised the scale goes the other way! However I have been having cramps all day today. Started about ten minutes apart and now down to six. Not sure if anything is happening as seems unlikely given cervix was closed this morning. I thought I maybe lost some of my plug this morning but then could be discharge.

This is like birthing mind games 😂

ttcttc · 25/10/2023 20:30

Cervix was closed yesterday sorry

NSx · 25/10/2023 21:08

@ttcttc it really is mind games isn’t it 😂😂😂 good luck I hope this is the start of something for you 🤞….
I went for an hours walk, kerb walked 😂 … have eaten dates, now having some raspberry leaf tea, expressed earlier, bounced on my ball. I feel like a crazy person 😂

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 25/10/2023 21:25

@peonygirl thank you, that does help! Hope your little one stabilises with the weight gain soon!

@NSx mine’s been engaged since 40 weeks but nothings really happened apart from that!

@ttcttc sounds like progress! If it helps my midwife did stress how quickly it can all change when I was disappointed my cervix was closed so you never know! X

ttcttc · 25/10/2023 22:42

Just lost my plug (or the rest of it). Was a bit tinged so different to this morning. I'm going to try and sleep. My app says contractions need to be every 5 minutes (I'm at 6) and 60 seconds long (I don't think they're that long will have not monitor). Hopefully a bit more movement by the morning 🤞🏼

It's such a worry really.. don't know if we're waiting too long or should speak to the ward etc.

NSx · 26/10/2023 07:28

@ttcttc if in doubt just call them? There’s no harm in calling them & if it reassures you then it’s worthwhile 🤍 good luck I hope this is it for you 🎉

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween I’m back at midwife’s tomorrow so hoping the baby is engaged this time 😂 although not holding my breath 🫠

OP posts:
ttcttc · 26/10/2023 08:43

@NSx I'm not in doubt just lots to think about. Made it through the night and pains are now spaced about ten mins apart but more severe. Can't believe I slept for around 6 hours 😂.
I've just been in the bath and currently lazing around... I lost more plug. I can't believe how much there is 😳

NSx · 26/10/2023 09:00

@ttcttc I hope you’re feeling ok, but this is so exciting …. 🎉🎉 … please keep me posted of how you get on, I guess it’s just a waiting game now until they get closer, for you to go into the hospital. Not long now 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Good luck to everyone still waiting! Felix has settled well at home and now I’m just trying to learn how to live the rest of my day without staring at him haha. Anything that really helped c section mamas? The right side pain is pretty debilitating even with all the meds.

PrimarilyParented · 26/10/2023 10:53

@doeandfawn i’m sorry you’re still in pain. If it doesn’t improve definitely speak to the midwife so they can get you stronger painkillers if you need them. I was sent home with dihydrocodeine which really took the edge off. Other than that I found a lot of pain was caused by trapped gas/bloating so the peppermint water in hospital helped loads and I bought peppermint capsules for at home to continue helping with it. I’m four weeks post section now and feeling pretty much completely normal. Hope you feel better soon.

Koalawhala · 26/10/2023 12:21

@PrimarilyParented and @doeandfawn i think my worst pain was due to gas too, I’ve been on the peppermint tea and it seems to have improved.

How long were you told to keep your dressing on? I had some pain and weeping on one side and the midwife drew around it to see if it had spread today. Hoping it hasn’t as I really really don’t want to be going back in to have it sorted when I’m enjoying lovely newborn cuddles at home

peonygirl · 26/10/2023 17:25

This year's Halloween be like... :)

@Koalawhala i was told to take my dressing off in hospital after a few days (think it was 4, but I’m not sure). If your midwife is assessing bleeding I imagine they don’t want it removed yet but I was told to remove it in the shower as that made it easier.
