Hi ladies, I couldn’t find another thread made, so made this as the other one was full. I will try tag a few people … if you can also tag.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
doeandfawn · 27/10/2023 02:06

@Koalawhala I was told to keep it on for 5-6 days and midwife will help me remove at closest home visit.

@peonygirl I laughed out loud

AlongcameLainey · 27/10/2023 09:05

Hi all,

just a quick update.

I was due to be induced on Tuesday so went for acupuncture to induce on Monday.

Woke 5am on Tuesday and contractions had started. Still had the pessary at 1pm and send home for outpatient induction at 4pm.

Went back in at 10pm as I was having 5 contractions in 10 minutes so thick and fast.

Straight in to a lovely room in the birthing centre and in the pool at 11pm and pessary removed.

Miley Florence born at 1.51am in the pool. Such an amazing birth experience following my last one which was quite traumatic.

So so in love with her. We were able to go home just a couple of hours later ❤️

I hope everyone is well!

peonygirl · 27/10/2023 10:11

@AlongcameLainey such a joy to read your birthing experience! Congratulations, enjoy all the cuddles. x

Koalawhala · 27/10/2023 10:17

@AlongcameLainey ah congratulations! So glad you had such a positive experience.

Hope those still waiting are doing ok. We’re at home now, baby has lost a bit more weight than they would have liked on day 3 but my milk only just came in the day she was weighed. Hoping for some weight gain when the midwife returns tomorrow

cruciverbalista · 27/10/2023 12:37

Love this @AlongcameLainey
12 days post section and I'm hurting a lot. Think I over exerted myself walking down the road and back yesterday. It's getting me down. Anybody else struggling with the recovery? Baby is doing great but I really just miss being able to use my body.

NSx · 27/10/2023 12:42

@Koalawhala I hope all is well with her weight tomorrow I’m sure it will be, I’ve heard it’s normal for them to lose weight initially - keep us posted tomorrow!
@AlongcameLainey congratulations 🩷🩷🩷 wonderful news 🤍

I went in for a sweep today, couldn’t do it as cervix was high and closed: baby still not fully engaged.

they tried to book me in for an induction on Tuesday which I initially agreed to but I feel like I was a bit railroaded into agreeing to. I basically had a wobble in the car park & so my fiancé called the hospital and managed to change it to Thursday for me, which gives me a bit more time.
what a morning.

has anyone else had a failed sweep 🥹

OP posts:
AlongcameLainey · 27/10/2023 12:47

@NSx thank you.

I also had a failed sweep due to high and long cervix on my due date. Midwife was quite rough too so not a nice experience.

Then she booked my induction for 41 weeks.

x

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 27/10/2023 12:54

@NSx I had three failed! Cervix was closed every time, although I lost my mucus plug after the second. Last one was last Sunday and was in this morning for induction, so currently back home with a foley balloon and headed back tonight at 9pm - insertion of the balloon was much less uncomfy than the sweeps, but the inflation is pretty horrible

NSx · 27/10/2023 13:20

@AlongcameLainey I am booked in for my induction at 41+1 🥹 …. She was a bit rough with me too not very nice!!

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween how come you ended up with 3 sweeps? She tried mine today at 40+2 but couldn’t get it. I’ve not been offered another, straight into induction.
is your cervix a bit open? She said if mine is still closed they won’t be able to get the balloon in?

have either of u tried using clary sage in the bath yet? I’m about to but a bit nervous x

OP posts:
FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 27/10/2023 13:25

@NSx just standard at my health trust I think, so long as they’re each over 3 days apart at the very least-I’m now 40 + 11 so have been able to wait a bit longer and naturally dilated to 1cm today (hooray) hence being able to have a balloon! You can probably request another sweep depending on the rules if your trust? My midwife booked my induction at my second sweep just in case the third didn’t work but left it as long as poss to give my cervix the best chance to open

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 27/10/2023 13:26

@NSx and used clary sage in my bath from 38 weeks with no ill effect! X

PrimarilyParented · 27/10/2023 17:42

@cruciverbalista it’s totally normal to just want to be able to use your body again, I think after after 9 months of pregnancy we just wanted our bodies back and c-section recovery is often harder than pregnancy and that’s a hard reality to face. That being said, I felt like you do for a couple of weeks. It’s been 4 weeks now and I feel a lot better and able to do more, so there is an end in sight.

@Koalawhala try not to worry on the weight front. My first baby lost more than 10% of his body weight by day 5 so we weren’t allowed to leave hospital until I got it back up to less than that by feeding, feeding expressed milk and formula on top. He was fine and gained plenty of weight once I was home and able to slowly

With this baby he had lost 8% by day 6 and it took until day 19 to get back over his birth weight, but he’s now gaining weight like a champ. The midwives on day 10 said ‘we’re not worried as he’s gaining weight slowly and with breast feeding it can take time but if he’s gaining weight then it’s going in the right direction and that’s great’

Desperado123 · 28/10/2023 10:49

@cruciverbalista yes am feeling it. I stupidly thought yesterday that I was "getting better" but last night baby was constantly feeding, and now I am tired and in pain and want to cry.

I have to hope we will both get there! Going outside is amazing, so well done on that. It is a small victory.

doeandfawn · 28/10/2023 12:06

Every day is definitely a learning curve! Still waiting for my bowels to move so walking as much as I can in 10 minute increments 😭 thankfully Felix is an absolute dream. Hope everyone is getting on well ❤️

Any tips for making parent friends?

BeaKind · 28/10/2023 13:30

@doeandfawn oh gosh I had that too. It was awful. I resorted to syrup of dogs which seemed to do the trick. We have a Felix too 🥰 (not this one but our first).

The Peanut app is quite good but I also think baby activity groups are good for meeting people with similar interests. I went to a forest School once a week with my first and all the mums there were like-minded and outdoorsy.

BeaKind · 28/10/2023 13:31

Omg syrup of figs 🤣

NSx · 28/10/2023 15:13

Anyone in here still waiting on their baby apart from me 😂🫠😵‍💫 …. ?

OP posts:
xLMCx · 28/10/2023 15:54

I'm still waiting, my due date is on Halloween so I knew I would be one of the last ones as my last baby went over by 8 days! Sweep is booked for Monday though so she will be cutting it fine to remain and October baby 🤣

NSx · 28/10/2023 17:07

@xLMCx I went for a sweep on Friday, they couldn’t do it as cervix was closed 😂 we might end up with November babies at this rate 🫠

Greetingsfellows · 28/10/2023 18:10

Arrival of my second baby boy was at 3:10 this morning after a very speedy vaginal labour. 1 week overdue. Weighing in at a chunky 9lb 6oz.

Congratulations everyone on your arrivals and good luck to those still waiting. It's been great sharing the journey with you.

Greetingsfellows · 28/10/2023 18:16

@doeandfawn After my first, it took me nearly 10 days to have a bowel movement. Lactose was my saviour!

Greetingsfellows · 28/10/2023 18:30

Lactulose- stupid autocorrect!

xLMCx · 28/10/2023 19:11

@NSx ahhh I'm sorry to hear it wasn't completed! Are you scheduled another sweep or booked straight in for an induction? Ngl, I have also popped myself on the November babies thread just in case BUT there are a few ladies on there that have already had their babies so I'm definitely feeling like I'm waiting for the days to just pass by now with babies coming on 2 threads 🤣

NSx · 28/10/2023 21:40

@xLMCx no, didn’t even offer a second attempt at a sweep 😂😅 they wanted to induce me on Halloween, I declined. So now they’re inducing me on the 2nd November as they are full 1st 😂😂 … I’ve just had a lovely warm clary sage bath 😂😂 so hoping the baby comes on their own, however I’m not going to hold my breath. Might go for another long walk tomorrow 🥹…

I can’t bring myself to go into the November thread .. 😂 I’ll just hang around here and see what happens 😂😅 xx

Congrats to everyone who have had their babies, I'm very jealous!

I was induced earlier today so I'm just waiting for something to happen. Hopefully the pessary works its magic and this baby won't keep me waiting too long. I hate hospitals but I know it'll all be worth it when I hold him in my arms.
