Baby Isaiah 💙 arrived on 10/10 - 38w +1 by elective C-Section due to Gestational Diabetes and a predicted big baby.
Had a scary first hour of them working on him to stabilise him but, he's an absolute dream.

We were kept in for 3 nights as he ended up under the NICU team for an infection.
We've been home a week and I can't put him down (me not wanting to, not him not letting me)
I'm loving being a Mummy but I'd love for him to go a bit longer than 1hr 30m between night feeds! 🐼😂
Good luck to everyone waiting for their little miracles to make an appearance 🥰

doeandfawn · 20/10/2023 23:41

@Onethingiwantfor23 congrats on wee isaiah! ❤️

Desperado123 · 21/10/2023 07:19

@Onethingiwantfor23 yay! Congrats

BeaKind · 21/10/2023 13:36

@Onethingiwantfor23 congratulations. Beautiful name too 😍 totally agree with the 1.5 hours. Our is feeding on and off from about 11 - 3 then she has a good 4 hours! And sleeps basically all day.

Anyone that’s had stitches, how are you getting on? I tore in 3 places. It all looks fine so I’m not concerned about them but omg I’m so uncomfortable despite the painkillers and I’ve packs. When do they start getting better? 🙏

ES1986 · 21/10/2023 15:52

My induction hasn’t worked so far, so they’ve sent me home til Monday morning when they’ll see if there’s been any progress and try to break my waters again. They’ve already tried twice though and I’m so sore now 😣

I’ve signed the consent forms for a C-section and hoping it goes to that now to be honest. My body just does not feel ready for a vaginal birth.

Every since the pessary and gels though I keep feeling like I’m going to pee myself when I sit up or walk, and then I go to the toilet and there’s barely anything. I’m so fed up.

Sagittarius25 · 21/10/2023 15:56

@ES1986 that doesn't sound fun at all ☹️ if you're hoping it goes to c section now why don't you just request that when you go back Monday? I clearly asked my midwife if you could stop an induction process (for whatever reason) and request a c section instead. She said absolutely and has had many women do it before. She said granted you may have to wait a few hours but you are entitled to request it and have a discussion with a consultant.

Obviously if you want to keep trying induction on Monday then go for it but wanted to let you know you don't need to wait for the midwives/consultants to action a c section.

ES1986 · 21/10/2023 16:03

Thanks @Sagittarius25 I will have a think tomorrow. My cervix is soft apparently, and baby’s head is right where it should be, but the cervix isn’t open for a sweep. Maybe that will change in the next 36 hours or so.

I’m just so peed off cos I knew full well that an induction wouldn’t be straightforward yet - I’m 39 weeks but I know my body and I really think spontaneous labour would be a couple of weeks away.

However the last scan showed the baby’s abdomen is getting big, so I don’t have that time to wait.

Sagittarius25 · 21/10/2023 16:06

@ES1986 yeah it's tough when it sounds like your body just isn't quite ready. Maybe see what happens over the next 36 hours and then have a plan of which way to go depending on how they examine you on Monday. Can imagine it's mentally exhausting - sending hugs x

doeandfawn · 21/10/2023 17:29

@ES1986 sorry you’re dealing with that. At least the process has started but I know that doesn’t make it more comfortable! For what it’s worth, making the decision to have a section has made the remainder of my pregnancy so much more positive, so if you go that way you’re not alone in that choice being right for you.

Smiffette · 21/10/2023 17:44

Congratulations to the latest arrivals!

I've been waiting all day for the doctors to do rounds so I can go home and they still aren't here ☹️ I'm desperate for my own bed tonight and a room that o my has the sound of my baby boy in it! ward life is not fun even with headphones

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 21/10/2023 18:14

40 weeks + 5 today, and having my third sweep tomorrow as no sign of labour 😭so fed up! Past two sweeps cervix has been posterior, soft but closed so midwife gave it an aggressive massage but apart from losing my mucus plug on Tuesday there’s been no change. Have an induction booked next Friday but really don’t want one, every person I know who’s had an induction has had complications! Anyone got any positive stories post failed sweeps?

Delahays · 21/10/2023 21:50

Hi ladies i had my little boy today at 39weeks🩵 after 4 days of induction it ended with a c-section today, as the induction just wasn’t working out. Good luck to all you ladies who’s babies will be arriving shortly.

doeandfawn · 21/10/2023 22:46

@Delahays congrats on meeting your little one! ❤️

peonygirl · 21/10/2023 22:54

@ES1986 ask for elective section. Trust me. I can't write right now I am in hospital with the little one and just had a cry bcos they make me beyond exhausted. I was on wards for days now, heard of failed inductions and you said you know your body is not ready. Listen to your body. Your recovery will be faster after elective than after an emergency section.

doeandfawn · 22/10/2023 18:26

Tips on how to sleep night before section? “Get plenty of rest” feels impossible!

I've no idea but it's the same as when they say get plenty of rest, but plenty of exercise. 🤔 what? Haha 😂

Good luck !

Esl17 · 22/10/2023 21:43

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween my baby came at 41 weeks on the dot- I was booked for induction 2 days later, hang in there!

Koalawhala · 22/10/2023 22:01

I’m the same @doeandfawn, early start for us tomorrow for our section and not sure how much sleep I’ll be getting.

Good luck tomorrow, it won’t be long until we’re holding our babies 👶🏼

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 22/10/2023 22:19

@ES1986 thank you, I’m so hoping they come before Friday! Today’s sweep was unsuccessful too as cervix still closed so really hoping something changes!

peonygirl · 23/10/2023 00:47

@Koalawhala and @doeandfawn maybe just think it is time to meet your babies? Good luck and I will keep you in my thoughts.

cruciverbalista · 23/10/2023 09:58

How is everybody getting on? Can't believe baba is 8 days old already. Combi feeding is going brilliant and my milk is fully in. Still haven't made it out of the house post-section but hoping to get a walk around the block in later today. Thinking of those who are still pregnant and the other new moms Flowers

doeandfawn · 23/10/2023 13:56

Baby boy arrived at 11:45am. Gentle C section was an absolute dream and he’s feeding like a champ. Very in love.

ttcttc · 23/10/2023 19:39

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween were you not due at Halloween? I was due 21st but no signs, I think I'll be Halloween too!!

I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow (40+3) will she offer me a sweep or do you get referred to the hospital? I thought she'd do it but my friends thinks not!

Is anyone trying to get colostrum still?

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 23/10/2023 19:46

@ttcttc nope, on the 16th! Depends on your health trust, mine offers from 40 weeks and I had my first at my 40 week midwife apt!

NSx · 23/10/2023 20:15

@ttcttc I saw my midwife at 39+1 last week and she booked me in for a sweep on Friday when I’ll be 40+2 😂😅 …..

I am also still getting colostrum as I don’t think I’ll be breastfeeding after birth
