Hi ladies, I couldn’t find another thread made, so made this as the other one was full. I will try tag a few people … if you can also tag.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Checking in from my epidural! Been at hospital almost 4 full days now but we're in the home stretch and I'm feeling positive x

Hopefulx · 15/10/2023 18:00

@cruciverbalista best of luck!

for anyone that has had induction or is booked in for an induction - did you have pessary or dilapan rods? My hospital said I’ll be given rods but not sure if I have a choice and which options is better?

peonygirl · 15/10/2023 18:08

@cruciverbalista oh my, good luck!! Not long now.

@Hopefulx why don't you ask them why one over the other and make a decision based on that? you are in control. If you don't want one way of induction you can speak against it.

doeandfawn · 15/10/2023 18:41

@Glitterb exciting news! Sending baby dust your way.

@Hopefulx amazing to meet the wee one sooner! There’s been some great induction stories recently, seems like a good season for positive experiences ❤️ good luck for Tuesday!

Was in triage today with reduced movements, think he’s just out of space and not shuffling as much but a few sections of decels below 100 so going back in for more monitoring over next 2 days.

Desperado123 · 15/10/2023 18:51

@Hopefulx @doeandfawn - sorry if bad question but honestly so confused about this - I don't know if I have reduced movements or its just tight in there for baby. I am swinging between panic and being zen about it. What made u go get it checked out?

peonygirl · 15/10/2023 19:08

@Desperado123 when I went in to check reduced movements it was because I was having a very busy day and it felt he wasn't moving so much as usual. My little one is a wriggler so I notice if he's not active. You would have noticed your baby moving pattern, when they are most active and if one day they are not, you should get checked. It is quite possible they are just sleeping but any discrepancy from the pattern should be checked. It is really important because if your baby gets into distress you will not know in any other way than with reduced movements.

Esl17 · 15/10/2023 19:10

Had my little boy at 2.37am on Saturday morning after he decided to come naturally at 41 weeks on the dot. Beat my induction which was booked in for Sunday. Did end up with an episiotomy though which is v sore! But I would still do it all over again!

Hopefulx · 15/10/2023 19:13

@peonygirl I will ask on Tuesday when I go in but just wondered what others in the group had experienced or whether different trusts offer different methods…

@doeandfawn thank you! Will keep everyone updated.. I agree so far the births have been positive :) sorry to hear you have reduced movements as well! Glad that they are monitoring you. Keep us updated

@Desperado123 I had a really active baby all week and then on Friday I hardly felt her so I called triage and they said to go in. If you have any doubts or worries i think definitely call triage and get checked out. They are really good and will be happy to see you and check baby… and it will give you a peace of mind too x

Hopefulx · 15/10/2023 19:14

@Esl17 congratulations on baby boy 💙

peonygirl · 15/10/2023 19:16

@Esl17 Congratulations!! Welcome to the world, little boy 💙
I hope your healing will go smoothly.

Sagittarius25 · 15/10/2023 19:18

@Desperado123 was also in for reduced movements yesterday so wanted to give my input too. My baby is really active most of the day everyday, and I usually feel him almost on a subconscious level, and it's not something I have to be aware of consciously. By late morning he was moving less enough for it to come to the front of my mind and was monitoring actually how much I was feeling him. By late afternoon I wasn't fully reassured as his movements were defo less than usual so triage said to go in. If you're ever unsure they would rather see you than not.

doeandfawn · 15/10/2023 19:37

@Esl17 congratulations on your wee one making their appearance! You’ve done so well ❤️

@Desperado123 baby is very active at particular times of day for me, so when he was only kicking once in those periods rather than 20 big movements I was a bit worried. Did all the recommended things like ice and sugar and lying down and didn’t help so called triage. Normally he’s really active in the car and he only moved once on way there so glad we did! Likelihood is just reduced space in there but better to be safe and get checked; if it makes you feel better the midwives were super lovely and told me I’d done the right thing coming in.

Desperado123 · 15/10/2023 21:45

Thanks everyone for the advice xx

cruciverbalista · 16/10/2023 02:55

Baby boy finally came out at 9:14 pm last night via emergency section. 41 weeks even. They tried me on a water breakage and hormone drip to induce, @Hopefulx, but ended up with obstructed labor and both of us weren't doing well, including my epidural not working well, so we went for the section. Everything was incredibly dramatic and not according to plan, but bab is a massive 8.6lbs and just perfect. So I'm feeling positive in spite of not having slept or been home in several days and currently being cathed up and inpatient. Xxx

peonygirl · 16/10/2023 03:28

Oh @cruciverbalista well done girl. What a journey. Another boy who had it cosy in there didn't he? Take your time with recovery, don't rush it. It's time for cuddles and snuggles with your perfect boy. Congratulations. X

RAP08 · 16/10/2023 04:00

39+4 update. Contractions started at 11.38pm and are still occurring. No real set rhythm. Also noticed my bloody show the last couple of times I've been for a pee. And more emphasis needs to be put on how often and frequently your bowels will move in the lead up to labour! Just chilling in bed just now, maternity aren't really interested until contractions are about three times in 10mins. But will head in before 7am probably to get the hood parking Grin. Anyone else awake with the pregnancy insomnia??

doeandfawn · 16/10/2023 05:04

@cruciverbalista congratulations! What a journey he’s put you on coming, you’re a star. Enjoy the first day with the wee man ❤️

@RAP08 exciting! Keep us updated. I’m always waking up at this time these days haha

GemmaJen · 16/10/2023 05:16

@RAP08 Always awake! Sounds exciting! Good luck for today.

More Braxtons for me... After our labour ward jaunt two weeks ago we've had so many BH, mucous plug etc... But no actual contractions since, looks like we'll make it to our section on Wednesday after all. Slightly disappointed but hey, at least he'll be here, and I'll be awake for other reasons, not this damn insomnia!

Finished work on Friday so heading out today with 4yr old dd for a mummy daughter day, she's very excited... I'm not sure I have the energy! I really should try and get back to sleep!

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 16/10/2023 05:49

@RAP08 congrats! Hope it all goes well! Yep, 40 weeks today and off for a sweep at 11 and just laying here thinking about how our lives are going to change-such a weird and exciting time!

AlongcameLainey · 16/10/2023 07:37

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween hope all goes well. I’m 40 weeks tomorrow and was wondering if midwife will do a sweep or not so thank you for answering my question 😊

Smiffette · 16/10/2023 08:55

@AlongcameLainey same as you, 40 weeks tomorrow but appointment with MW not u til Thursday.
At my last appointment she said we would discuss a sweep then, so I'm not expecting it on Thursday. That said I'm tempted to text her today and ask to have the sweep at the appointment on Thursday if baby boy is not here by then. Really don't want to have to wait another week for it.

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 16/10/2023 13:59

@AlongcameLainey just back now from mine, was absolutely fine, effectively just a slightly rough smear test-just relax as much as possible, it’s the tension that causes the discomfort more than what the midwife does

AlongcameLainey · 16/10/2023 14:06

@Smiffette ahh yes my appointment is on Wednesday. Yes I would probably text as well but I know my midwife won’t get back to me before my appointment anyway 😅

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween ahh thank you you for letting me know. I am usually okay with smear tests so should be fine in that case. Let us know if it triggers anything 🤞🤞

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 16/10/2023 14:09

@AlongcameLainey so far a bit of spotting and some cramping! We shall see!

RAP08 · 16/10/2023 15:06

After 8hrs of contracting at home we headed to our maternity for some reassurance and although baby is perfectly engaged the exam and sweep were unsuccessful as cervix was too far back! So back labouring at home with the yoga ball, waddling around and baths! No pain relief for me yet as really trying to push through trusting my body! How is everyone else doing today? Any niggles?x
