Hi! Just had a BFP after a MC at 8 weeks last year, and am looking for folks to breathe through the next few weeks with. I am in an age bracket where MC risk is high and I’m trying not to get ahead of myself!

@CamdenQueen A friend of mine had COVID in early pregnancy and gave birth to her daughter 2 weeks ago xx

PurpleIsTheColour · 10/11/2023 07:15

From what I’ve read Covid is the most dangerous in later pregnancy (after 28 weeks) as it puts the mum on higher chance to need to be ventilated and obviously the baby to be born premature. Your immunity is weaker during pregnancy so some mums struggle with recovery from Covid and might end up needing help (i.e oxygen). When I had my daughter 2 years ago pregnant women didn’t have to self isolate and we were only advised to limit contact with people after 28 weeks but self isolation was not necessary. I would speak to the midwifes rather than your GP and if they are concerned they’ll send you to EPU.

DevonMum2Be · 10/11/2023 08:03

Had my first antenatal appointment yesterday 😊 I’ll be 8 weeks tomorrow, so just waiting for our 12-week scan date to come through on the app now.

Apparently I’m ‘nice and normal’ 😄 or low-risk, which sounds reassuring.

I forgot to ask at the time, with the bloods that are taken, I know they’re testing for HIV and syphillis (I think?), but do they also look at HCG levels? I should’ve asked at the time but it totally slipped my mind what with all the information and booking questions!

CamdenQueen · 10/11/2023 08:06

@PurpleIsTheColour thanks this is really reassuring. I have done a bit of googling and it does seem the risk is very low which is great. I just couldn’t believe when the antigen came back positive, although I am feeling completely floored with it so makes sense that it’s not just a standard cold. There’s so much to worry about in these early weeks isn’t there! It’s hard not to get consumed by it

Wheeeeee · 10/11/2023 10:02

8 weeks on the dot and started vomiting this morning 😬 roll on second trimester!

Catson · 10/11/2023 10:40

@DevonMum2Be no they don't look at hcg. They don't test your wee either. They just take your word for it

cosymama2020 · 10/11/2023 11:47

11 weeks tomorrow and I can’t believe how quickly it’s started to go by now! My last EPU scan on Monday then my dating scan the week after. Then officially into 2nd trimester if all goes well!

FINALLY over the sickness thank god. It was debilitating.

I’m still a bit bloated but not uncomfortable and starting to show already 😊 I know it’s early but does anyone have a vibe or a feeling whether they’re having a girl or a boy?

Stephy1024 · 10/11/2023 11:53

@KMM87 been thinking about you. How did things go with the second scan?

KMM87 · 10/11/2023 12:18

@Stephy1024 Thank you for thinking of me. I actually have a scan at 1pm!! 😬 I'm feeling weird and nervous for it.

How have you been getting on the past week?

Stephy1024 · 10/11/2023 12:40

@KMM87 it's no problem, I have everything crossed for you. I think that's understandable. Its the not knowing which way its going to go.

I'm good thank you. Have my 12 week dating scan at the end of the month. I'll actually be 13 weeks but hey ho.

KMM87 · 10/11/2023 15:11

@Stephy1024 There was two heartbeats this time!! 👶🏻 👶🏻 They have both grown in line with the last scan. It still doesn't feel real that I'm having twins and I don't think it will sink in until they're both here and I'm losing my mind 🤣

Ah its better to be past 12+4 if you're interested in the nub theory though so it could go in your favour if you are 😄

I've been taking cyclizine for sickness since Tuesday and it seems to be helping.

Stephy1024 · 10/11/2023 16:16

@KMM87 that's amazing news! I'm so happy for you. No I wouldn't be able to get my head around it either. But my sister had twins and you know about it with how big you get lol.

Oh that's good. I've been pretty lucky with the sickness. Never really had it bad with any of my pregnancies. I hope your feel better.

Bubblesandtroubles · 10/11/2023 16:51

@KMM87 great news! I think I've just read your post on BC about two conceptions and due dates?! Fascinating! Xx

GeeinItLaldyX · 10/11/2023 18:01

Has anyone got any tips on social occasions and feeling uncomfortable in changing body? It is my brothers wedding next weekend and I am a groomswomen and was going to wear a cool suit, the trousers I originally bought now dont fit and im struggling to find an alternative I like. I just feel so uncomfortable with my body already I dont think I will feel good in anything! Im ok day to day when I can just lounge around in leggings and sweatshirts but getting dressed up is making me feel awful!

GL2021 · 10/11/2023 18:22

@CamdenQueen i had covid the week I found out I was pregnant on my little girl and she’s 10 months now and as healthy as can be. I was terrified at the time and convinced I was going to miscarry just try keep up fluids and rest

VJFord · 10/11/2023 18:48

Anyone who has suffered with morning sickness, what's it like? I've had three pregnancies before with no living children and I've never had morning sickness before. I'm 6+5 now and the last few days I've felt mildly nauseous and just now got a very brief but quite strong feeling that I might be sick. I feel like this must be morning sickness but I just don't know if this is normal or not 😂 for me it seems to get worse in the evenings, too

Suchardchoccy · 10/11/2023 18:51

@VJFord the best i can describe it is feeling constantly hungover, but I'm sure there's women out there who have had it much worse than me!

KMM87 · 10/11/2023 19:26

@Bubblesandtroubles yes that's me!! 😄
The last sonographer wasn't that surprised but this one today put the willies in me a bit the way she was acting. She said 'just leave them now to grow for a few weeks' like I have any other option?!!? 🤣 My first hospital appointment is on 12/12 so I will just wait and see what that brings now. How are you getting on?

@VJFord that is how my sickness started and it is horrible. I got cyclizine from the dr on Tuesday and it has helped so don't suffer if you are bad. Weird things are turning my stomach, I forgot to make my sons lunch last night and nearly threw up on his ham bagel this morning 😭

VJFord · 10/11/2023 19:51

@Suchardchoccy @KMM87 thanks, both! After the horrid luck we've had with trying to start a family, to actually have some pregnancy symptoms feels really reassuring so for now I'm definitely not complaining about feeling a bit queasy!! I'll see if that's still the case if it lasts for a few weeks, though...

Senso21 · 11/11/2023 15:52

Had a private scan yesterday as part of NIPT test and all was looking great. Dated me a week further along than I thought so am 11+2!

woke up feeling head coldy this morning and have been achy and shivery throughout the day - just dug out a covid test and it’s glaring positive😭

what do I do now? Anything I need to look out for? Not sure what risks are in early pregnancy! Is paracetamol ok if needed? Usual dose? Do I need to inform midwives?

I feel so upset and deflated!

CamdenQueen · 11/11/2023 20:20

@Senso21 im in the same boat! Tested positive 4 days ago. I feel absolutely exhausted with it, totally flattened. Im 7+3 and definitely think pregnancy is exacerbating the fatigue

I spoke to my GP and she said there isn’t much you can do beyond rest and paracetamol if you have a high temperature. She said there were no risks and that baby is well protected. Hard not to worry though, I know. I’m not linked with a midwife yet but if I was I probably would have got in touch for the reassurance.

hope you don’t feel too unwell with it!

LavenderJoy · 12/11/2023 12:25

I'm just over 9 weeks now! Is anyone else constantly hungry and eating? I honestly feel like I can't stop eating and it's the only way to get rid of the nausea, any tips? I think I've put on a stone already since I began ivf 😩

G7X · 12/11/2023 13:24

@LavenderJoy I'm the same, I feel sick unless I’m eating. In my last pregnancy I actually lost weight in the first trimester as I felt sick if I did eat. Comparing pics I’m 9+3 now and quite bit bigger than I was last time 🙈 Hoping the nausea stops soon it’s horrible.

LavenderJoy · 12/11/2023 14:41

@G7X I'm the same, my clothes are uncomfortable already, I'm too hoping the nausea passes soon, trying not to complain to much as I know it's a positive sign but it's not nice.

Goldie1234 · 12/11/2023 22:46

@LavenderJoy could have written this. I feel awful until I eat and then I'm starving again within an hour! No tips, I'm leaning into it haha already excited for the almond croissant I'm hoping to get tomorrow morning 😅
