I think we might get weighed again at 28 weeks according to google, but with my daughter I defo only remember getting weighed at booking and then 36 weeks - I think as it factors into birth plan decisions, e.g. if beyond the safe limits for birthing pool, etc. and whether might need a specialist anaesthetic review ahead of labour to plan for emergencies, etc if very high. Also for blood clot risk I think as well 🤔

@Musicalitymum both times I've been to my hospital appointments they have been offering flu and whooping cough jabs with no appointments. Could you check if yours is the same?

Personally I'm not having any jabs at all whilst pregnant.

anony1111 · 03/10/2023 20:47

Anyone else struggling with constipation? Im in so much pain with it this week 😫 im drinking plenty of water and eating well but it doesn't make any difference

LavenderSweetPea · 03/10/2023 20:52

@anony1111 yes me! I'm so confused, I didn't have this for the first trimester at all, but the last week has been bad. I've not changed my diet or anything. What's going on?!

novamama · 03/10/2023 20:58

I had my covid vaccine today, this is the 4th one for me. I booked via the NHS website.

My workplace offers the flu vaccine for all staff, so I booked that one in a couple of weeks' time.

Regarding whooping cough, I called my GP and had my whooping cough booked a few weeks ago, but then the nurse called in sick and I could not have it. I have to reschedule it, I will probably do it 2 weeks after my flu vaccine, so when I am 27 weeks.

anony1111 · 03/10/2023 21:49

@LavenderSweetPea I struggled in my first pregnancy with it too but I think it's a mixture of hormones and less room inside with baby growing.
It's awful isn't it 😫 was hoping someone may have some good tips.
Last time I tried prune juice and dried apricots but they didn't help at all if I'm honest! I think I might have to get in touch with the GP as had such bad belly ache today from it.
I hope you aren't struggling too much

Cheetocat · 03/10/2023 22:58

Kiwis and decaff espresso have really helped me with digestion x

Shrillwaffle · 04/10/2023 00:26

@Musicalitymum i think some offer it and some you need to chase it up 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk why I think it’s pretty stupid every trust should offer it and arrange it but I called and booked in for a few weeks cause I believe you have to have it before 26 weeks? But I’m not 💯 on that exact date

Does anyone mind sharing how much weight they have gained so far?

I have gained 2.5kg (20w+3) and midwife said today because I was already overweight anyway, they won't want to see more weight gain! Wtf!

I had a hungry phase for a week or two in the first trimester but now I'm not eating more then previously and quite healthy to be honest!

Today was...
breakfast - protein smoothie
lunch - tuna sandwich
dinner - chicken , salad, rice
snacks - yogurt and one biscuit
(Nighttime where I am so almost time for bed!)

they keep pushing a dietian but I don't want to start a diet. My bloods are all coming back really good , including the early gd , bp great and I'm generally having a healthy pregnancy . Feeling abit down after the convo!

I’ve gained about 3kg, which I ain’t think is a lot but after all the vomiting and loss of appetite I didn’t expect to gain so much. I’ve only just started eating again and most of it is junk food!

Mangotango39 · 04/10/2023 09:54

@Clueless13 I didn't think it was a lot either - especially as I have had no sickness at all :/

I think it's just the fact I started at a higher wait but not sure how that means I'm not suppose to bloody move an inch but grow a whole person lol!

Nemo145 · 04/10/2023 10:48

I’ve only gained 2kg but with all the stress I’m just eating for baby to survive. I’m not really eating anything for enjoyment and I’ve probably got a lot of anxious energy.
im actually speaking to my GP today about possible medication, I don’t know what’s worse for baby, my daily grief and anxiety or some short term medication.

Has anyone else had night sweats? I woke up shivering last night and then realised my PJs were slightly damp. So must have been night sweats which when I’ve cooled have caused the shivers. I’ve not had that before in pregnancy.

amyg1985 · 04/10/2023 11:09

@Nemo145 - I hope your GP can help you. You've been through so much.

I am having trouble regulating my temperature at night too - often feeling hot and sweaty.

Cheetocat · 04/10/2023 12:02

I'm finding it very hard to regulate my temperature too, I'm sweating way more than usual.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 04/10/2023 12:08

@Nemo145 I hope the GP is able to give you something to help.

Is anyone else having difficulty breathing a bit? Or getting breathless when not really doing much? I'm not sure if it's not just everything getting squished up. I'm taking supplements so hopefully not low iron.

LavenderSweetPea · 04/10/2023 12:36

It's been a slow day at work so I though I'd update our gender list, keep adding yourself if you're missing! But currently we are at 19 girls, 11 boys and 6 surprises!:

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes! I’m getting soooo breathless! I climb one flight of stairs and have to stop to catch my breath!! I’m normally pretty fit too so it’s a bit worrying to me 🫣🫣

Cheetocat · 04/10/2023 13:03

Just had an appointment with my family doctor, a bit like a GP where I live. She weighed me, measured the fundal height, checked my blood pressure, tested my wee and we got a good long listen to baby with the doppler. Everything was perfect. In pregnancy you go every month for a check like that and I love it, it's great peace of mind.

This is my MIL's first grandchild and she's over the moon, she's already knitting some little cardis for baby. We're thinking of doing a private scan so she can come along and see baby properly. I know there's a trope about MIL's being crabby but I love her, she's like a mother to me. 😍

AmyA64 · 04/10/2023 14:29

@LavenderSweetPea I’m not sure how I edit the list, but we’re team surprise too!

For those suffering constipation, I had it terribly in my first trimester. Loads, and I mean loads of prune juice and fibrogel (it’s safe in pregnancy as no senna) sorted me out, but I’ve been on a high fibre diet since. I really sympathise, I was in tears I was in so much pain.

Meeting · 04/10/2023 15:03

Has anyone else got a really crap midwife?

I first tried to contact her in my first trimester when I had terrible constipation, she finally called back 8 days later after I'd already given up waiting for her and been (well over the phone) seen by a GP.

I called last Thursday about hip pain that's crippling me and still nothing. I'm honestly considering looking into private care.

When I have been for appointments they feel rushed and completely uninformative. So frustrating, especially when this is my first baby and everything is unknown.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 04/10/2023 15:24

@Meeting
I feel exactly the same in regards to the rushing and not being given much info.
Exactly the same as you, my first baby too.
I felt the same at my 12 week scan.
It's almost like they're robotic cos I wasn't told absolutely anything, no baby is looking fine nothing. Not even what they were measuring, I had to find that in my notes after and I was asked oh is that good and I was like I honestly don't know.

I understand it's nothing new to them but bloody hell be about kind and informative especially if first time mum.

And I can't help but see that's why people pay private and have private scans cos they're a lot bloody nicer.

The lady who did my 20 week scan was lovely and talkative.
But certainly not my 12 week scan or my midwife.

Meeting · 04/10/2023 15:56

@CheeseAndCrackersx So sorry you're having the same experience. Totally agree with you! When I went for a private scan I was in there roughly the same amount of time but feel like I came out so much better informed

redxlondon · 04/10/2023 21:39

Hi there, I’ll be 21 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and expecting a boy. I have uterus didelphys so taking each week at a time but staying ever hopeful and optimistic. Fingers crossed for a safe and smooth delivery, which will be a planned C section. I’m having scans every 2 weeks or so to monitor cervix, and have extra growth scans booked. Lovely to join the February crew.

Wow, that's super rare, is this your first baby? I'd have a scan every week if I could, do you enjoy them? I'm 21w4d do just a tiny bit ahead of you, also having a boy.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 04/10/2023 23:00

@Meeting in regards to your hip pain, have you tried a maternity belt?

Kelb79 · 04/10/2023 23:30

@Meeting and @CheeseAndCrackersx me too!! First baby and really quite slack midwife, never answers my messages at all and rushes through appointments!!
I had my booking appointment with the most lovely student midwife but then my 16 week with my actual midwife and I was soooo disappointed!
12 week scan team were pretty good at least but had another student there who was really keen!

I’ve got my 20 week in the morning!!! I’m sooooo nervous!!!! 🫣🫣🫣 pregnancy after loss and a 4 year infertility/IVF journey is so bloody hard!! 🫣🫣🫣
